- Join us for an incredible flounder netting adventure in Kawhia! In this video, my friends Joel, Iti, and I set out with a dragnet and come back with an impressive haul of flounder. We were able to catch enough to share with our friends and families.
Watch as we take you through the entire process, from setting up the net to the excitement of pulling in our catch. To top off the day, we head home for a delicious catch and cook session. It's a day filled with fun, friends, and fresh flounder straight from the sea to the plate!

Nice haul there . Brought back some good memories. I grew up in Pirongia , so went flounder netting at Kāwhia and Aotea Harbour quite a bit . Dad and myself on the net and the younger bros chasing the flounder down to us ! Good times .
We are blessed in New Zealand with such a bountiful coast
At the moment but it's slowly getting worse especially our rivers due to intense dairy farming geez down south they are farming right along side the rivers now they are stagnant pools and you can't harvest anything from them. It's the end for an old kiwi tradition spearing eels and flounder also.

Used to live along that bay, set the net many times, pātiki, parore, kahawai, and walk right across to those rocks for oysters, such a Beautiful place is Kawhia.
