Zee needs to put up a video on his "favorite 51st state expansions and strategies." Do you play with New Era and/or Winter? IF you play with two or three of the actual 6 expansions which would you put together? What is your favorite way to start? A real deep dive now that the Ultimate Edition is delivering!
Have you noticed the fact that none of the 9 cards in the No Man's Land map allow you to activate the East outposts? The Northeast card says activate the Central outposts. The entire rest of the map is symmetric except for that. It feels like a misprint but I've read that Portal says it was intentional asymmetry... I can't figure out why anyone would choose that corner to start since you are placing an outpost on a map tile that will never let you score that outpost as opposed to the other 3 corners that when upgraded all let you score the outpost on that corner. Additionally, the Southeast corner is hampered as well since it can only be triggered for one direction (south only) where the Northwest and Southwest corners can be triggered in 2 cases (North/West and South/West). I guess I'm just very skeptical that this was intentional and, if it was, I can't see the rationale for how this works/makes it more interesting or doesn't negatively impact the balance of the spots....??? Interested to know if Zee or Camilla have a comment about that based on having played this expansion??
Is there a typo in the North East territory card? It says you can activate it to gain points for all central locations, but it isn't a central location and there's no card that gives points for controlling east locations..

Ah that's a damn shame. But I've heard repeatedly that being a bg dev doesn't pay great money so I guess it makes sense. She was a biochemist or something before I think?
Due to Life Happening I put my master set up. But want to start getting back into it. I also knew I had the watch the Zee Videos. I was not disappointed. There are some games where Zee is the go to Guy, I was pleased to see a lady here as I was wondering if 51st state is a good game for ladies.
51st still swinging and dinging it out of the park after all these years. The master set was and is a great deal. i love the cheap decks coming out and keeping the game fresh for the price of a McD's combo!
I agree that this was an excellent review. For those who have just the master set, is Allies then No Man's Land before adding new factions like Texas & Mississippi as well as before all the smaller promos? Or do you think Three Cities/Arena/??? bring enough to consider before Allies or No Man's Land? Thanks!
I think adding all of the factions (9 total) would be my first move. After that I would pick the expansion based on the number of players I typically play with. The 3 cities/arena is not much of a game mechanic addition and I hardly use them.
when is the ultimate edition review coming out? can't wait! really love both imperial settlers and neuroshima hex, so just need your confirmation to get the ultimate! :D
The Ulimate edition is just the existing content (the main game and expansions) plus some extra promos and bits plus a combined rulebook (inc solo mode - seperately available as a PDF) and insert, you could probably watch the individual reviews of the base game and expansions to get an idea if you'd like it (as there are no real content changes). Personally Moloch is my favourite expansion so far, is worth noting that you can only mix in one expansion at a time, so although it comes with several you may find you only play with one or 2 of the them. If I didn't own all the content (aside from the odd promo) I would have got the Ulimate Edition. 51st State is similar to IS in a lot of ways, I'm not sure you'd need to own both, to me I like 51st State more, I think Zee does as well.

Did either of you try this solo? I cannot see how this works in the solo game, which is the way that I play it exclusively.
