I wonder if there is a difference in the harvest of growing from seed vs kitchen scraps. Which one yields the better harvest and flavor?

Great question! One thing that you know for sure is that if you're growing from the root of the onion, the new onions will be exactly the same. However, if you are growing from seeds and the onions are a hybrid variety, you might get a completely different variety of green onion.
I grew my muscadine plants from some muscadines from the grocery store and we ended up with two different varieties. Apparently they were hybrid but fortunately both varieties taste great!
