hi marshall do you use brown or yellow mustard?
It looks amazing! Keep on keeping on lol
I've been sampling my mustard as it was growing. Very strong and unpleasant until the leaves get to this wavy/big stage. Now...they are delicious! Im glad i planted a TON of them!
@@lukeswain1752 this is the second time that I've grown mustard greens and it always amazes me how much better they taste compared to the varieties in the grocery store. Are you able to grow them in the fall too?
@@farmermarshall I've never eaten them from the store. Or at all 🤣 no idea if they'll grow in the fall. I'm sure they'll last til at least first frost. This is my first time growing them
Thanks for sharing, very good tips.. New friend here from Growing My Own.
Thank you! Stay connected!
I really enjoy your videos 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Glad you like them! You might not realize how much that means to me!
Well said
Sound track please
I’m enjoying your videos. Thanks!
Reading comments like this make my days so much better! Glad you like them!
Thanks, I was waiting until they got black. Glad I saw your video 😊😊
Glad to be helpful!
Those are all brown ( carbon) materials, easy to get. It's the greens that are difficult to find
for some reason habaneros go crazy i planted a couple n had magical results
Yes, I was completely shocked by how many I had! They grew so easily!
@@farmermarshall try to over winter them, they do wonders after a couple
Wait.....not a recall
I don't recall...
Shout out to amazing boxes
Careful with that cardboard, it's usually high in boric acid to prevent cockroaches from eating it.. If you use a lot of cardboard in your compost or burned in your ashes, you will end up with a buildup of boron in your soil.
Yes, I have plenty of browns so I only use a little cardboard.
Chevere!!!
Turning more frequently to increase air and aerobic bacteria helps too. Anaerobic bacteria make more smelly compost. But greens eat up air faster hence it turns smelly fast as anaerobics take over.
It's funny that you mentioned that because I have a short coming out today based on that thanks for commenting!
❤
Thanks for watching.
There isn't a consensus on what is the proper green/brown mix. I seen 30-1, 3-1, and 1-1. Mostly, I use 1-1. My main point is that if it smells then your ratio is off. You probably need to add more brown because your level of green is too high.
There isn’t consensus on what is the ideal ratio of browns to greens because there is a wide variation in the Carbon and Nitrogen content of different ingredients. It is known through decades of scientific research that the ideal range for the Carbon/Nitrogen (C/N) ratio for composting is between 25-30/1. Greens are defined as materials with a C/N ratio below 25/1 and browns are defined as those above 30/1, while those items which fall in the ideal range are already balanced. If you use sawdust, which can have a C/N ratio as high as 500/1 you will need a higher proportion of greens to balance that Carbon content then if you used old dry hay which can have a C/N ratio that is already much closer to balanced. Also, eggshells are not a green as they contain little to no Nitrogen, whole eggs, however, are highly Nitrogenous owing to their high protein content. Smells can come from an imbalance of C/N, but they can have other causes as well. A well balanced pile can still go anaerobic if it is not actively, or passively aerated, which will result in smells, or adding greens in large pieces that have a low surface area to volume ratio can restrict aeration within the material resulting in localized anaerobic conditions. In such cases the addition of more browns can help to mask or absorb the smell, but will lead to an imbalance later, and Increasing the surface area of the materials being composted will be the better fix.

Oh she’s beautiful. I don’t often see the giant type bees like that in Australia but i do so love their fuzzy fat booties
Fortunately, this type of bee is pretty common here. Hopefully, that won't change. Thanks for watching
Yes Sirrrr! ❤ Glad to see 👀 you're growing your own. 😊😊😊
Thanks. I don't know how I missed this comment. Growing as much as I can!
Well done.

That's a carpenter bee. Yes, all our bees need help!!!

Little heroes
Yes, a gardener's best friend!
shops are becoming to greedy
They make it tough on everyone!
Please show us the whole process
The video explains the entire process. Just cut a decent size piece off. I used 8 - 12 inches. Put it in some water & wait for the roots to grow. You can also remove the lower branches/leaves. It works. Hope this helps!
You got some good information.
Thanks so much!
A REAL farmer! So refreshing.
Thanks. The best food is always home grown!
I do this every year, it works great!
Glad that it works for you! Eventually I want to grow everything from seeds
