The Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon which was airing during the making of these movies does offer some hints to the direction of the films. For instance, Mary Jane in the show bares a strong resemblance to Shailene Woodley’s version who was cut out. In 2016, the show’s title was changed to “Ultimate Spider-Man vs The Sinister Six” Which is the same year the Sinister Six film was supposed to come out, the lineup of the team being the same as the one hinted at the end of Amazing Spider-Man 2. The show also introduced the idea of Dr. Connors having a shock beacon on his neck that forced him to become the Lizard, which does seem like it would fit with how he was being set up in The Amazing Spider-Man.
Great video, as usual. I loved the Sam Raimi directed Spider-Man movies (well, the first two) and am really looking forwards to seeing what he's going to do with Doctor Strange.
The body language shift at 12:24 - you can tell Avi is overbearing, controlling and frustrating to work for. Explains an awful lot about Spider-Man at Sony Pictures over the last 15 years in particular.
I remember seeing a video talking about a proposed script for Spider-Man for where his life finally does go to hell, him and Mary Jane have a kid he cheats on her and then they leave him as he sits by himself in his apartment by himself and the movie ends
interesting. I think the 'tug of war' over spidey as of late is quite the subject with all these ideas and characters and plots going all over when at the end of the day the fans want a good story a classic that can be watched again and again with tiny details maybe added for the life long fanboys. That is where i want to see these superhero genre go is a place where the minute details could feature many nods and mentions but at the same time the moviegoer has to be prepared to delve into the expansive world of marvel. For every hero arc that is memorable thete are five or six that need to be tucked away so you are not exposing the lackluster ip. Its a complex y topic most movie goers and makers have the tiniest of knowledge. The franchises are a double edged sword. thank you for presenting the backstory and teaching us the complexities of hollywood.
Never let Alex Kurtzman or Roberto Orci near another superhero film ever. I love how The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was in such a rush to set up the Sinister Six that they just had all the villain's shit in a backroom. No unique origins or interesting ideas about how they came about, they're just a bunch of Oscorp backpacks.
Despite the issues with these two movies and the Sony crews' odd ideas for spin-offs and sequels, the TASM movies are my favourite live-action portrayals of the character and I do wish we got to see them continue as a part of the MCU, with Kevin Feige overseeing Sonys' plans.
It’s bewildering how surprised people are that these movies don’t get made when these scripts are so poor. Why would they follow up the mixed results of TASM 2 with straight up junk? I would have loved a TASM 3 (NWH further cemented that Andrew was always the best Spider-Man) but Holland turned in a wonderful performance in his trilogy. But to be fair. It seems like Sony may have figured it out judged by the critical and financial successes of the spider verse and the mcu. Also. Opinions may vary but the Venom movies are fun. The story told in NWH has opened up new possibilities. It seems to me that audiences would take a Spider-Man 4, TASM 3 and another entry with Holland. (which if they were smart, they would call The Spectacular Spider-Man) I most certainly would. They just need to keep that Goddard guy far far away. Lol.
the amazing spider man 2012 was my childhood man...I was 7 years old when that movie came out. I really hated how people keep giving it crap...I mean it has its flaws...but director Marc Webb vision is perfect for this character and all the actors give an excellent performance...it's just the direction that sony wanted this movies to go that ruined it.
The first one imo has just as many flaws as the raimi films. No one really picked on it or showed hate towards the first one until the 2nd one came out which confused me. It still to this day has a decent rating on popular critic sites... yet people still talk shit on it. Amazing spider-man is literally one of my top spider-man films... and I grew up in a time where I'd go to a video store and rent the punisher movie with Dolph Lundgren, and the captain America movie which that dude from revenge of the nerds. I watched the first raimi film when I was 14 or 15 in theaters. Still prefer the amazing spider man movies.
Gooderd definitely seemed like he cared about this spiderman project a lot. I would love to see the MCU let him work on something in the future (without the meddling of Sony to boot)

Avi arad was responsible for the downfall pf Spider-Man movies he demanded venom in Spider-Man 3 and wouldn’t give creative control to Marc Webb when they were making The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Sony got the WORST of the deal they should have pushed for the Amazing Spiderman or even classic Spider-Man to be the one used. It would only raise the stock value of a Sony Spider-Man franchise and crossovers with Disney's Avengers Universe. With the reset Disney pretty much has all the power and even with the Colombia logo playing Disney can say this is ours and the audience already believes that. So if Sony does make more it'll be hindered by comparisons to what "Disney's Spider-Man did".
Fun fact, TH-camr ComicBookCast2 got a copy of an early sinister six script, and….sweet Jesus. He made a video outlining the script and got a cease and desist from Sony, confirming its accuracy. But hot damn it was a disaster.

Man, I would take this over what we got. I don't like Tom Holland's Spiderman because he is barely a character. The MCU takes these characters and turns them into jokes. I actually liked Garfield's Peter Parker and Spiderman, TASM2 might be a messy film critically but as long as the characters are potrayed correctly I'll like the movie. I hope NWH could possibly birth some of the movies mentioned here. I don't want Spidey in the MCU, he isn't handeled well at all.
Drew Goddard was like a diamond in the rough in that team that team they assembled. I'm actually very grateful that Sony made the deal with Marvel and these films never happened because Kurtzman and Orci are terrrrrrrrrrrrrible writers and I know they would've butchered it.
Look at the logic here, there is one big universe with all the Marvel characters, including Spider-man. And there is a small universe with only Spider-man side characters and no other Marvel characters. Sony is obviously trying to cash in on Marvel's success, they been doing so since they pointlessly rebooted Spider-man with The Amazing Spider-man films. Sony is already sharing the film rights with Disney, they even keep all the money and it's still isn't enough. On top of that, they are even doing a Spider-man animated film series as well; they may be great and amazing to look at but it still shows how desperate Sony is just to hold on to the film rights. It took 8 years just for Spider-man to join the MCU, they should have all the characters together in one shared universe. The fact that so many people are expecting the cheap, lazy, wasted, cash and grab so called cinematic universe Sony is giving us is baffling. The only reason you people are even seeing Venom, Morbius, and Kraven is just because it's Marvel. If Sony really wanted to start their own cinematic universe, they should have used someone like Miles Morales since he's from another universe but it's too late to that since they already confirmed Miles exists in the MCU when they mentioned him in Homecoming. Think about it, Sony still owns the rights to Spider-man; they forced the MCU to change Mary Jane's name, made Aunt May young, they hardly even mention Uncle Ben yet, and most of all, they haven't even used the famous great power quote. Sony forced these changes which caused some people to question if MCU Spider-man is even good, they are trying to make it look like they do Spider-man better. They should really just suck it up and give the film rights back already.
This is a big spoiler for No Way Home but: The Sinister Six are the main villains of the movie. They will be comprised of villains from the Raimi and Webb films (hence Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx's confirmed casting in the film). How this happens is these villains are from other universes (movies), which is supposed to tie into what happened in Loki
lol pascal's convo with Raimi should have gone like this: Raimi: I cant do this movie, the script sucks! Pascal: What do you need to move forward on the movie? Raimi: a new script Pascal: we'll get started on one right away, we'll postpone the movie until we have a better script and we'll announce the movie is delayed from the initial release date.
I'm STILL a little surprised that Peter isn't more honked off at Tony; he's smart, so why can't he see that Iron-Man USED him as a ringer?! Capt. America was his hero! =)

*Hey,**#SupervoidCinnema**! Cool cancelled Spider-Man/Sinister Six films video! :D I bet already saw the official trailer of thebrand 2021 third Spider-Man MCU film! I have a theory for the movie The five villains shown in the trailer ,Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman, Electro, and The Lizard are actually all illusions created by the villain Quentin Beck aka Mysterio, who actually faced his death and framed Peter Parker aka Spider-Man of his crimes as well reveal his secret identity from the awesome 2019 Spider-Man: Far from Home MCU film and is disguise as Doctor Strange, tricking both Peter Parker aka Spider-Man and the audience alike via high tech illusions and a hallullengien! However, the true blue heroic Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme probably used his Eye of Agamotto and sensed that Peter Parker aka Spider-Man is in trouble! Doctor Strange saves Peter Parker aka Spider-Man, inspires and reminds him of that with great power comes great responsibility, a philosophy taught by by his late and great father and mother, Dr Richard and Mary Parker as well as his late and great Uncle Ben, (played by actors from previous Spider-Man live action films)defeats Mysterio, and eventuallyproves his innocence, and true heroic worth as well as protect his secret superhero identity as Spider-Man! The five villains shown in the trailer may be illusions, but it could be indicating that we will get a MCU film reboot, recast, reinvention, revitalization and reintroduction of iconic archenemies such as Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman, Electro and The Lizard for examples for our beloved benevolent intelligent bright-eyed hopeful, spunky, winsome, web-slinging friendly neighborhood Marvel superhero and superhuman Peter Parker aka Spider-Man to fight in future MCU films, including future MCU film sequels of Spider-Man! In the Ultimate Marvel comics, our heroic webslinger Peter Parker aka Spider-Man and his rogues gallery such as Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman, Electro, Kraven the Hunter and The Lizard are genetically engineered by a miracle compound/mutagen called Oz! What do you think of my theory, guys and gals! Please reply and comment of this theory!* 😀
I feel really bad for Drew Goddard. He was one of the few working at Sony that actually had an idea of what to do with a Spider-Man universe and could've changed the superhero genre. As much as I like to have MCU Spidey and the 3 actors together on screen, I have to say Sony lost a big shot at having their own Spider-Man focused business. They should've invested more in it if it was supposed to grow to MCU size levels, but they were greedy and lazy by shoving everything in one movie. Spider-Man lore has the potential to surpass any other cinematic universe. Spidey's rogues gallery are some of the most famous around the world, they could make big film pieces with very little while exploring beyond the superhero formula. Drama, horror, science fiction, action, suspense, you name it. I'd love for Goddard to return to continue the 'TASM' universe plans by tying into the Venom movies. If Sony truly wants a cinematic universe, they need to let him do what he wants though.
@@SupervoidCinema oh thanks man yeah the sinister six thumbnail looks so much better the yellow and green looks so good it's very pleasing to my eyes 😂

Erin Fitzgerald is always independent, But she depends on one man which is Fred Tatasciore All that Erin Fitzgerald needs is love and compassion and she got what she deserved by meeting Fred Tatasciore for the first time
Man how many childish Producers are their? Including Avi Aard he’s the evil old movie producer that destroyed a really great franchise and across if Tobey did got a Spider-Man 4 and Andrew Garfield a 3rd one. But when Marvel and Disney came to Sony to reach a deal on how to put Spider-Man in the MCU. The one played by Tom Holland who appeared in Captain America Civil War and three Spider-Man movies and two Avengers. With Tony Stark, Nick Fury and Doctor Strange as Peter Parker’s mentor and add some villains like Vulture, Shocker, Mysterio and getting the original villains back from Sam Rami and Marc Webb’s universe
I’m just really glad the Sony Spider-Man is over. The two movies they managed to make were so boring and pretentious, no one was passionate about the characters nor the story, they just wanted to steal the character from marvel to make a shit ton of money.
Tom Holland's Spiderman is terrible and the films are banal and monotonous. They made a joke of spiderman and peter parker. I dont even want to talk about what they did to Mysterio.
@Snehil Shrey I think what Insomniac has done with the New video games is better than any of the movies, at least the o es with Peter Parker. Dont get why hollywood doesnt Just hire those guys to write the movies
I think you could have it be from both perspectives. Remember the scenes in Spider-man 2 where you'd see Doc Ock planning, talking to Harry and so forth? Replace those scens with Sinister 6 but you've got the angle of sympathetic people like Electro, Rhino, and Sandman, contrasted with the bloodthirst of Scorpion, the creepiness of Mysterio, and the threatening malice of Doc Ock, who would be in charge. Scenes where Electro and Rhino talk to each other, Max saying he needs money for his sick sister, and Rhino saying he's on the run from the Russian government, who already ruined his life with the rhino project (also rhino is basically retarded so that could be put in a sympathetic light). Then you've got Doc Ock being super creepy and threatening them for failure and these kinds of things. Funny dialogue showcasing casual fraternizing. Very much like Reservoir Dogs. You'd get a scene where Spidey kicks ass in classically heroic fashion, only for the next scene to show Electro getting mauled ny Doc Ock for failing and now you feel bad for him. At the end, Rhino could be killed by Doc Ock, and Electro helps spidey. Sandman becoming glassman like in the comics could be played like Doc Ock subjecting him to torturous experiments for his own sake.

Even Sam Raimi ruined the opportunity to put a Sinister Six in Spider-Man 3. In SM2, Dr. Octavius' character went downhill after Sam Raimi *killed him off and shoehorned Venom in the threequel!* Otto and his machine were supposed to be stopped by Spidey and his ending shows him being locked-up in an Area 51-like prison like Max and Harry in TASM2. By SM3, Doc Ock breaks out of prison and takes a chosen handful of fellow supervillain jailbirds with him such as Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Vulture (John Malkovich), Lizard (Dylan Baker), Mysterio (Bruce Campbell), and later on New Goblin (James Franco) to form a SINISTER SIX™ together against Spidey.

“Ultimate Spider-Man vs The Sinister Six”
Which is the same year the Sinister Six film was supposed to come out, the lineup of the team being the same as the one hinted at the end of Amazing Spider-Man 2.
The Sam Raimi trilogy is one of the most iconic trilogy, that really is good part of a lot of people's childhood, truly great
Jesus H, Avi is freakin' nuts. I can only imagine how the interview went UN-edited. Oof.
The body language shift at 12:24 - you can tell Avi is overbearing, controlling and frustrating to work for. Explains an awful lot about Spider-Man at Sony Pictures over the last 15 years in particular.

Goddard’s casting sounded pretty good tbh
I'm not sure about Matt Damon as Doc Oc. He is too much of a pretty boy and not the nerdy, mad scientist type the villain is.🤔
If Sony doesn't get rid of AVI ARAD

He's already gone, but they have to put his name on all Spidey movies.

They're never going to have the balls to do that dark a Spider-Man story. Hollywood refuses to let him mature past late teens/early 20s

I really think they should give Goddard the next trilogy of Holland films the ones that will most likely set when the character is in college.
I love these videos and I am real glad I found this channel.
Drew Goddard pitch for Tom Hardy as Sandman was just _amazing_
No kidding. I would have loved to see that CGI skyscraper scene. It could have been superior to the Giga Sandman scene from Spider-Man 3.

interesting. Its a complex y
topic most movie goers and makers have the tiniest of knowledge.
Or any film, really. Star Trek: Into Darkness or the Transformers films are an example.
10:35 We get it, you "LIKE" Spider-man. I'm surprised he didn't outright wear the Holloween costume during the interview.
Gooderd definitely seemed like he cared about this spiderman project a lot. I would love to see the MCU let him work on something in the future (without the meddling of Sony to boot)
Without the meddling of Disney and Marvel as well. It's no secret directors have refused to do MCU movies because they want a strict fórmula followed and If You don't follow it, you're out
Oh my gosh! I think you read my comment I left on another video of yours! I asked for more Spider-Man movie videos lol. This is such an amazing video. Thank you! So much lost potential. The Sinister Six probably would have been a great movie but at the same time, it may not have been a great movie. The Spider-Man movies that have more than one villain had failed.
Avi Arad is the reason The Amazing Spider-Man series failed.
I find it funny how executives over at Sony thought sandman a B level Spider-Man character was more interesting and had cooler powers than Doctor Strange such idiots
Awesome Job On This Video Big Time ✌️😍
Fun fact, TH-camr ComicBookCast2 got a copy of an early sinister six script, and….sweet Jesus.

Yeah imagine if Universal was going to do a Cinematic Universe with the Immortal Hulk

Any time you see Kurtzman and orci, you need to run away. Fast

For some reason I don't see how a Sinister Six solo film would make sence? Like who would be the protagonist in that film Spider-Man?
@@Frogman1212 honestly pal the idea of that actually sounds not that bad I can see something like that play out in a Sinister Six movie. I just kind of thought the idea of them in savage land is a bit cheesy
