I'm 70 years old and my least favorite tool has always been the shovel but I have learned to just set your mind to digging to big of a hole over to small of a hole to begin with ! Great job and I would have used many bad words on this job !
I dont mind using a shovel, as long as there aren’t a ton of rocks. Sometimes got to get the pickaxe out for that. But if you keep your shovel harp with a file, it makes digging so much easier.
I once had a plumber get stuck at my place in our storm drain. Cost him an hour of time and digging and it was their big camera stuck on a double 90 turns. They didn’t have a small one at that time. The following year we had the same plumber back to tend to our sewer and he had a different camera, we noticed and he went on to tell us a story of when he got his other camera stuck once and had to dig at a particularly hard to dig site where the earth was solid as a rock and it was so hard he had decided to get a second camera so he could see what was happening to get the first one free more easily. He had no idea he was at the same house till we were like “yeah thats this house” and he looked around shocked. We then walked him to the other side of the house (where he had got stuck) and the look on his face was hilarious as he knew the spot without question! Apparently our plumbing had been the final straw in him getting $7000 worth of camera. The spot he got stuck was about 1m into the pipe (if that) and only about 300mm down. Again it took him an hour to dig it (and he WORKED for that full hour to dig, it was like concrete dirt!) and thats coz our ground was just THAT hard.
Nightmare? You mean gold mine. Ollie will be out there jetting that pipe for the rest of his career and put Mouse Boy through college on the periodic maintenance.
My mother's bathroom sink is draining slowly again. I have to clear out the hair and whatnot every couple months. This is the first time I looked at it and said "blocked drain" in my best Ollie voice with my terrible Aussie accent. Hope you're having a great summer. 20 cms of snow tomorrow in my part of Canada. 🫣
Thanks for another great video. I had to do a bit of plumbing the other day Ollie. Hot kitchen tap at home had come loose. Top hat washer had just disintegrated so isolated the hot feed to the tap, undone the back nut enough to replace with new top hat washer then tightened it all up again. Turned the isolater valve on and Bobs your uncle job done lol. No leaks or anything.

Hi Oliver - I have watched many of your videos and thanks to you I was able to sort out a blocked drain! Was the gully associated with the shower and kitchen drains and I had noticed a gurgling noise when they were draining and guess what a blocked drain..no corn sorry. I was able to run a flexible wire rope though and popped it - it is so satisfying to see the water just disappear - now I know why you like your job. No camera to check for the cause but hopefully the fix will last a while. Thanks again for your videos I find them strangely addictive!
Definitely this gentleman has a fixer upper home and yard. Good job getting your camera out, difficult and frustrating but it is out. At least the home owner has one less issue to address but also knows what they are facing on replacement of plumbing. Love your videos Oliie.
As someone who's a part owner in a plumbing company in the states I wish some of the people we've had over the years had 1/2 of your persistence and work ethic.
Ollie you have got to be the most honest guy on TH-cam the amount of people who would have switched the camera off when something went tits up and switched it back on when it was sorted .Good on ya buddy great job keeps me coming back for more 👍👍

Ollie, would a multi tool not be a decent purchase for situations like this? They'll cut through PVC pipes like it's nothing but with no spinning discs to cut into stuff you don't want to. I know Makita do one and i'm sure they're available in Australia. Either way, glad you got the camera back, just found your channel via the algorithm and man, i'm addicted. As much for your personality as the satisfaction of seeing someone so passionate about his work. All Goood. 👍

I have been watching an American deal with drain problems and they have real issue allowing houses to be built lower than the surrounding area or roads and water run across properties.Then they dont run storm water to the road either . The land engineering is lot to be desired with poor practices. At least in Oz we have a road system that takes water away from the land and you must pipe it
It just seems odd that a resident of one of the driest places on the planet with major water problems would advocate and praise treating rainwater like waste to be disposed of, instead of retaining it onsite where it falls for as long as possible to percolate and recharge the severely strained and deteriorating aquifers upon which your very existence depends. Perhaps that reflects on the state of the Australian public school system mimicking that of the appalling US public schools.
Hey Ollie, you should try putting an anti glare screen protector on your monitor. I doubt they have one specifically for your size of screen. Doesn't hurt to search. But you could just cut one to size from a tablet anti glare screen protector. Most of them will just be a plastic film with a matte finish on one side. It doesn't help in direct sunlight if the screen isn't bright enough, but it will definitely get rid of those annoying reflections.
I am a professional laborer, (Local Union #754, 40yrs, retired) and I recommend a short handle shovel as well. Gives you better leverage and maneuverability in those tight spaces you're often digging in. I enjoy your videos immensely, been subscribed a few years_ 2,3? Thanks

I wouldn’t mind occasionally seeing ratty, but bringing an army of mascots along was sadly a bit too much for my taste (I still watched all episodes anyways 😂). Don’t need the whole gang but maybe a guest visit by one of them from time to time would be great.
