    Quite revealing my father was a electrical Tech for Chrysler and now I see when he used to talk about air conditioning certification give a clear idea of the perimeters and protocol

    nice work! much better than changing entire compressor…

      Cheaper and a better repair than a reman AC compressor in all their glory...

    Great video thanks, I'm dealing with same issue and same vehicle. 2013 Cadillac srx. So when 30 and 87 are jumped is this also bypassing the pressure switches because I can't even see these switches, I've jumped these to pins but clutch still won't engage so is this for sure problem with compressor? Thanks again

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว

      Jumping 30 to 87 at the relay should make the compresor engage but if it does not that does not guarantee the problem is the clutch. You need to test for power at the clutch connector but thats not easy.

      I'm still fighting this ac compressor, with pins jumped over i do have 12 volt at compressor but don't seem to have ground but clutch still not engaging, should it not ground from been mounted from block ground? I'm thinking of running a temporary ground to it just to test. Any advice will be appreciated

      One more question, when ac is turned on in car should it send a ground to a relay pin or is that sending voltage? Thanks again

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว

      @egtreadway4232 the black wire should be a ground to G110 which I believe is right on the AC compressor

    on this SRX can the clutch be removed with keeping the compressor in place? Seems very close maybe not enough clearance. Seems you loosened bolts to shift over the compressor to get to the wire connector only, but then continued removing the clutch with compressor unbolted.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct I moved the compressor to access the connector but you might be able to get the pulley off without doing that.

      @@PhillipBailey it was easy enough to remove the 1 lower bolt, top nut, and E8 threaded rod, then pull down the compressor, so non issue, I'm used to having rusted bolts : ) but not here. Also, the coil wire is held in place by a tab to keep the wire from hitting the spinning pulley, pull up the tab and get lots of slack on the wire (no room for a short Phillips screwdriver), then easy to get a probe on there for diags. Thanks for the great vid Cheers

    Missed the whole reason forthe video.. HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE OLD CLUTCH AND CONNECT THE NEW ONE TO THE COMPRESSOR?

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Starts a 9:15 in video. Remove the drive plate nut and pull the plate off the shaft, remove the snap ring holding the pulley and bearing on, pull the pulley off the housing. Remove the snap ring that retains the clutch coil and pull it off. It's very difficult to show each step as there is not much room to work and I don't have someone to hold the camera. The snap rings are the most difficult part of the job. Installation is the reverse of the removal.

      Have to know what the low and high side pressures are. How did you charge it with refrigerant? Was it a new or used compressor?

    Can you pull the serpentine belt from off the clutch pulley without accessing & releasing pressure from the tensioner pulley?

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No you cannot.

    • @Texdram
      @Texdram ปีที่แล้ว

      So is there pretty good access to the tensioner pulley from that direction(underneath)? The maintenance manual says to pull out air intake box to remove/replace serpentine belt..thx.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Texdram I honestly don't remember pulling the airbox so I must have accessed it from below.

      @@PhillipBailey is there a trick in getting that face plate nut off, the lock nut? The rest of the plate just spins... can't seem to find a point anywhere to lay some resistance up against..

    • @Texdram
      @Texdram ปีที่แล้ว

      Well got the nut off now I'm dealing with the first snap ring,any tips in that?

      Well that depends what your issue is and what motor you're talking about. I need more information.
