The reason that the phone didn't work after the voltage is that the capacitive screen works with electromagnetic fields, so actually the voltage interrupts the sensors overflowing it and burning it down
Have you done comparison between MOIST air and dry air with high voltage? Simple mist in the air up high and in a few seconds air in that area should be moist...Would like to see the increase...I suspect it anyway.

Actually that smartphone isn't entirely useless. If you connect a USB mouse to an Android phone, it'll give you a cursor and you can use the mouse like on a PC. A keyboard will work too, but a lot of UI interactions (with one obvious exception) won't be as convenient. You can also use Bluetooth, but of course you'll need some other way to navigate to the Bluetooth menu and set it up if you don't already have it paired.
