My wife and I were in Rome last week and spent several hours walking in Villa Doria Pamphili, the largest park in Rome on the Gianicolo. That’s a lovely place where only locals go. We stayed in the San Saba rione of Rome, which is a great neighborhood not touristy but with easy access to the historical sites of Rome. It’s also within walking distance of Trastevere, another area worth exploring.
Interesting video. Italian people take their coffee like portuguese people, an expresso!! I'm portuguese and i think my people are more similar to the italians rather the spaniards. We are a little bit more lunar, if you know what i mean. Spanish people is all about fiesta and good life, we portuguese and the italians are more 'problematic' people, we've got fado and opera, tragic stories and ideas. By the way, i aprecciate as well your videos in Portugal, you need to come back. Abraços calorosos de um amigo português. Estamos juntos 🇵🇹 🇺🇲

Thanks for your kind words, insight, and for watching the video and commenting. I see what you're saying, but it's also true that the Spanish have certain Flamenco songs that are gut -wrenching 😂 actually the other day I heard one and was reminded of the tragic tones of fado. I loved Portugal and would love to come back. Obrigado!
👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤ Well said brother. I too think that Italians and Portuguese are more shy and "bohemien" than what people might think ( probably thanks to Hollywood) and indeed Spaniards are far more sunny.
I live near Rome. For a tourist, the city is like an amusement park. For a local, it's hell on earth. That's why many romans are moving to other cities or moving back to the countryside
You speak Italian very well, apart from literally one or two words your pronunciation is mostly perfect, the sentence structure when you speak Italian is correct too. Love the video btw, I live in the island of Sardinia and only briefly visited Rome and other cities in mainland Italy years ago so I enjoy watching these types of videos showing how's the rest of Italy with firsthand experience, interviewing locals etc. Subscribed

Sono Romano , Roma è bellissima e concordo con il vecchietto che ha vissuto la vera Roma, ricordo da bambino respiravo un aria particolare andando al centro di Roma che non saprei spiegare a parole…ma era qualcosa che ti emozionava molto.
I guess I'm in that 1% that's seen the other parts of Italy... between slow trains, visiting friends, boats, walking, and several solo bike rides across Italy over the years, I've seen a lot of Italy (and other European countries) that most tourists will never see! :)
I finally watched the video!! It’s super impressive how fast you can speak Italian without mixing it up with Spanish! When the woman shouted at you and you thought she was angry I felt the same 😂😂 it reminds me of Naples, it was like people were arguing constantly bjt they were just talking, it was insane, nowhere in Latam I have seens that even. Great video! This focus on realness and the locals and friendships is the best content really. Also going to the outskirts of anywhere touristic always immediately becomes a human experience, something that is really missing in the beautiful urban architecture areas.

Thanks Ben! Wow, you went to Naples? Never been but heard it's intense but lively. And yes, focusing on the locals is so enriching as you know very well and show in your videos 😃 The way you just wandered around Mexico City and talk to people is inspiring.
Yesss we inspired each other right?! What was good in your vids is that the locals take you with them. It's something Ishould try more (I did in fact recently in Indonesia!) In you vids it would be super cool seeing more of your answers and reactions when they talk to you :)

The Italian said right "pickpockets" and you corrected them saying "pickpocketers" but the right word is pickpocket not pickpocketer

You're right! My mistake thanks for letting me know. I've spent so much time outside of the US that English is leaving me sometimes 😆 thanks for watching
nah Rome being so big and the capital is a mix of different people. Romans like Napolitans are mainly social but there are some neighborhoods where people act like aristocrats, there are others where the neighborhood is rich but they act as your avarage nerdy guy or as we say: "Library mouse" . Others where the people are educated to be a little bit anarchist or others where people are edcutated to be communist. I could keep going but that's just the general idea of what a Roman can be

Great to see the non-touristy side to Rome, with REAL Romans. I even learned a few Italian phrases too. Grazie mille!

Nice video. 7 coffee before noon is not bad. A person I know once had 12 coffee in a day but not on regular basis! (Moka pot makes very strong coffee)

Bel video. Mi ha piaciuto tantissimo. A Roma trovi dei personaggi incredibili haha
per capire roma devi vedere la gente che fa barbecue e festa....ma vaff
Nice people but they don't represent Italians. This is the outskirts of Rome, northern Italy where I live is another thing.
Good point, thanks for watching and I'd love to visit northern Italy and show the local perspective there.
Of course. They represent Rome❤
North Italy you mean Africa 😂
