Athearn Genesis SD70ACe and Intermountain Tier 4 GEVO Lights and Sound Upgrade

Good Day All. I should have put this video out a months ago but due to time constraints it was not until now. This project is a request from a gentleman from Boston by the name of George. He sent me two of his locomotives for LEDs, decoder and Speaker upgrades. It was a challenging project but it all turned out well. George may want me to upgrade the decoder for the Tier 4 for a ESU V5 decoder to produce better sounds. But that will be another video since this one is already quite long. I hope you will enjoy it!

Lol! Yeah the lights are hard to see with these old eyes. Mortality sucks sometimes...🙄

The Athearn board, is set up for tsunami, so for example, F6 will not turn on ditchlights if using loksound 5 21 pin , but if you use loksound 5 21 pin on wow board, it works perfectly, F3 is beacon or emerg. F7 squeal, F6 ditchlights, F21 air, F10 apply auto brake, F11 fan and so on. In my experience that board or Nix Trains boards work great with loksound. Scalesound closed again till january.

Man I had so much trouble with the TCS board. I could not get lights to work correctly due to the programming issues. It was very frustrating to work with. When the decoder worked it was fine, but when I try to program it, it just went haywire.. One of the two hardware is probably defective..🤔

@Stuart Aaron Good evening Stuart. Yes I have figured most likely that is the problem. The TCS motherboard was not designed for Loksound decoders in mind.. I will be getting a TCS decoder in the future for testing purposes.
