Are you able to record outside audio with this setup as well as record the dialogue? I'm interested in recording some dirt biking videos and would like to know if the road/trail sounds are going to still be picked up by the camera as well as my spoken dialogue and or commentary.
It depends on the type of microphone you use. This rig will give you the ability to use any external microphone. I needed it to use a wireless mic so the noises made by my gimbal wouldn't be picked up in the audio
my friend just gave me a hero 6 black and i want to use my rode wireless pro with it do you think i can use the type c port to record audio in it thanks for this video btw
What microphone would you recommend on that? I shoot videos from the inside of my car and sometimes outside. My goal is to capture the exhaust sound the best I can with it. thank you
Thank you for the scoop on the mic and settings. Was thinking of using both a mic and line-in to record an electric piano. Hopefully the line in setting will work for that.
Hey there, I haven't used the HERO6 in a few years so I don't know if it works with a wireless. It would probably need a dongle of some sort but I am sure it could work
Hey there! I tried several different microphones with this rig and had success with several of them. I don't remember which exactly, but one was a RODE shotgun mic, another was a lapel mic, both worked great.
you only need a mic adapter if you want to use an external microphone with the GoPro. Otherwise, the on-camera mic works great as long as you're speaking close enough to the camera with little background noise.
The question is, what if we want to use ND Filters? I've looked at a lot of these cases and they call have a lip around the lens area. Have you found a solution for this scenario? Thanks for the great vid!
Hi Michael! I am unable to use an ND filter with my particular setup....I would think that there would be an external case out there on the market that could hold an ND filter if you search around. Now I am curious :)
@@Motionshooter I haven't been able to find a case designed to hold the mic adapter, which also accepts the typical ND filters we use. Seems they all of that lip. I'm using this for motorcycle, action shots.
you might try your microphone with and without an adapter and see if that's holding you back. If you look closely at the 3.5mm jack, it can either have 2 or 3 colored rings near the middle. Try both and see if that works. I don't use my GoPro much so am a bit out of practice with the issues
Thanks so much for solving hours of painful clueless search !
haha, hope you didn't suffer the frustration I went through on this :)
@@Motionshooter i did haha thanks for saving me 🤣
Very goo keep it up, but how did you remove the vover to plug on the audio adapter
the cover comes off with a twisting motion....it's been a few years so I don't remember exactly but I do remember the twist :)
Unfortunately that product is no longer available. Do you have a new link?

Hey there, I haven't used the HERO6 in a few years so I don't know if it works with a wireless. It would probably need a dongle of some sort but I am sure it could work
Were mic do u need to buy to plug into that mic jack
you can use any microphone that has a 3.5mm jack. Any lavalier or shotgun mic should work just fine. I believe I used a lavalier mic for this video.
Thank you i just did it like you said it work ! I thought some thing wrong with the mic I ordered until I watching your clip ! thanks again
awesome! so glad it worked for you
Thanks bro, what mic did you plug there?

i wonder if i can ude dji mic with my hero 6 black like that, is it doable ?
that, I am not sure of....would be cool if it worked!
Do you have to have a mic adapter to have audio during videos? Are the videos silent without a adapter? Would appreciate a answer!
