Many thanks Micki for your simple and informative walk through of using google forms to create a ballot. just used it and have a ballot done and sent out to folks to vote. Really appreciate your help.
What happens if a student sends this to another student that is not supposed to have access to the election. Maybe it is a grade level election or if they send it to someone at another school in the district. Is there anyway to prevent that?
I think if you require the sign in and limit to your school you should be all set. In addition, you could track the emails and catch any disqualified votes on your spreadsheet.
@@danielle3735 But the problem is we are in a big district. Google does not allow us to limit to a school only within the district as a whole. When I look at the thousands of votes students could be from any school in our district and since I posted this, I talked to another school that was using Google forms and this happened to them. These elections are such high stakes for these kids. We paid a couple hundred dollars and now have voting4schools.com and I am so happy with that.
@@benstar9671 Understood. That makes a lot of sense. I pray that someone can provide insight. I am not with a district. If I find the answer, I'll be sure to let you know. Merry Christmas!
I send a link to my yahoo email and could vote 2 times... It wont prevent an outsider to vote, even if you check the Restrict to you organization box... It is a shame.
@@carlospinto5402 You can prevent an outsider. First is to have all the voters registered using Google form where you'll have data of their emails and phone numbers. Then create your voting form and vlook the response using the email address sheet previously registered.
Basically your video show how to create a google form. I appologized but ballot must be tallyed. I was hoping you would actually show us how to connect this to Google sheets and actually for the tabs you have at the bottom for tallying numbers. Thanks
In multiple choice, how to ensure say only any 3 out of total 5 and no more to be a valid vote. Like for example we are asking to vote 3 out of 5 candidates for a panel / member of the Board of Managers.
Thank you Micki! This is very helpful. I have a couple of questions. Can this be shared on zoom? If so, how would you recommend that it be done. If not, should it just be sent to the group you wish to participate in the voting? I'm doing a ballot to elect 12 persons out of 23 choices and I need a large amount of people to be able to vote. I hope I wasn't too vague....
Hi Byron! I'm assuming that the people in the Zoom meet are the same ones you want to participate in the voting. If that's the case, then you can copy the link of the google form and paste it in the chat box available on the zoom meet. This should allow the people in the meet to access the form. I hope it helps!
The problem is you don't want all the members to vote, but the part of members because not all of them have the ballots, but still they might have the access to the link.
Thanks Micki, very helpful to get started. I have a question though for multiple votes. I want to make a form for voting board members and each voter will have multiple votes. So, for example a voter with 20 votes need to cast these among 20 nominees (either 1 each or even 20 to one person). I want to have a tally on the voting sheet to check the total votes casted vs the allowed. Because in the example above, the voter might put 5 votes each for 5 nominee and that will be 25 votes vs only 20 allowed. Thank you.
Sorry, I just saw this. I don’t think there’s a way to limit the number of selections in a checkbox. Now, you can use different things to tally your Google sheet, but I’m not really sure how to limit what you’re talking about without creating different forms (here’s the ballot for those of you with 20 votes, and here’s the one with 25)
I am new to using Google Forms however I don't see a timer option in Forms. There is an add-on option. On your Form's upper right hand corner, you will see 3 dots "more", click there and select "Add-ons". I saw different timers you can add. I have not tried any so I am not sure what next steps will be. I hope this is helpful.

Hi Clark, how to ask Google to tally the result?? Pleasee
Thank you. This will help me in electing my new set of officers in the new normal situation.
I do not have the little cog wheel. What do I do?

What if you want to restrict responses to a specific email list and you aren’t using a work account?
How it is tallied already?

Do you have to have a google account to participate in the voting.?
No, you don’t. Anyone can access if you give them the link. Now, if you don’t need confidentiality, you can collect email addresses.

Many thanks for a well put together tutorial.
Hi, how do you do the candidate profile?
hello, how did you add the tab "require sign in"
Hi, if you go to "Settings" (gear icon on your main form page- upper right corner) then click box under "Requires sign in:".
Can Google Classroom do "rolling elections" ??

How do you restrict this to a group of users?
Thank you. This is a great help in our new normal class officer election.
