I had this bike for over three years, and I bought it when it still had BTWIN on the frame. For the money, it is an excellent bike to get acquired to mountainbiking. Once you have used more expensive bikes, you will notice some of the flaws. Nevertheless, I would recommend it if you don’t have a lot of money to spend. Final note: I never had a flat tire, although I only used it in the forrest and for Mountainbike tracks.
I have the Rockrider ST520 and all i can say is it has better gears than most $1000 bikes but the tires are a disadvantage. I am from Romania so most of the roads there are a bit rocky and bumpy but it holds very good at intensive use. I deffinitely reccomend this!!

I'm just checking in, lamenting that they don't manufacture steel bikes like the Rockrider Five-Zero. I bought it in 2013...a simple mountainbike...and the quality is just insane! It has an undestructible steel frame and Gripshift, I NEVER had to adjust the shifting, I've never seen anything like that (wearing out tons of bikes before, lol) I just replaced some worn out parts and it's just going. I regret not buying more of it, for back-up.... I "hate" almost everything on the new bikes, the strange design with extremely long sadle axis and low frame at the sadle (making it instable), the weak alu frame, the bulky gearshift. They threw out a perfect design and they manically changed things (to the worse) in order to say that they "innovating", lol. I only saw a similar bike, the Capriolo line, from Serbia but I don't know about their quality, the Rockrider 5.0 was assembled in Italy at that time, and I've never seen such a good quality bike, it goes like a tank since, lol, it's totally quiet too. The frame will survive anything, as long as the temperatures are under 1000 C, hehe. Would have liked disc brakes though instead the V-brakes, they are hard to adjust. Peace. ---------------------- They still sell it here and there, this is how a classic MTB should look like: www.amazon.in/Btwin-Rockrider-Mountain-Bike-Medium/dp/B00WMJK9N0
Thanks for the review! It was useful and you speak understandable English :). I'm thinking about this bike more and more. Saddle seems terrible for me (as I'm a woman), but that's easily changeable. Two questions from me, to you or anyone else having experience: how this bike behaves on other types of road? Gravel, regular street? I can afford to have one bike only due to limited living space, so versatility is a key for me. Also - had someone tried to add rear rack (the thing for holding up you stuff, don't know if I use the correct term)? Decathlon says it's possible, but on some bikes this looks and feels very creepy. Thank in advance!
I have this bike. Have had it for 2 years now. Only just changed the gear set (other casettes and shifters etc). I have abused the bike a lot. It has been standing outside for most of the time, I went to mountains in Belgium on heavy trails, it has been stolen once and have recently been mountainbiking on trails closer to where I live. I've only decided to buy new parts because I want to do some more heavy mountainbiking, even tho for normal use it was still in very good shape. This bike is good for mountainbiking as wel as normal use on the street.
The only problem I have with this bike are the suspensions. They compress way less than the old rockrider 520 model that my friend has. I got it as a gift for my birthday. When I preload (for example, for wheelies, manuals) the suspensions don't really seem to compress in comparison to the older model. I don't know if it's a problem of the bike itself

I'm thinking the Riverside could be lighter, maybe the bigger wheels can be better for traveling. What do you think ? Thanks
Hard to say. I can say that the ST520 is excellent value for money, the brakes could be better but do the job for light trail riding. I would definitely change the stock tyres. I even installed an e-bike conversion kit on the ST520 I leave a link if you're interested. One thing to consider is that the ST520 has quite a heavy hard tail, it's strong but on the heavy side. I wouldn't choose a bike like this for steep climbs off road. Works well with an e-bike conversion kit for sure. 😉 th-cam.com/video/glcvGL-FK6Y/w-d-xo.html

The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.
