@@commonsense332 Yeah, not so sure that's that's a hyper great idea for shoring mine shafts, not without some comprehensive structural analysis beforehand, anyway. Not exactly the same risk/reward as when building lean-tos to house your lawnmower, or whatever. :-/ Not a bad idea for those simple projects, though.
Seriously...the sheer amount of work in all aspects of mining still amazes me...here in North Georgia ...I visit as many mine sites I can get permission to...just the other day I went to a site where both heavy placer and underground works occurred, with gold and massive sulfide pyrite as primary ores...the shaft entrances were both inclined but caved in ..even still the entrance craters were around 150ft deep to the caved parts...then thousands of placer tailings and spoil piles all over the place....and every rock and shovel of dirt was all by hand....great appreciation to the old timers...and Jeff Williams...even with all the modern tools and conveniences...its still a throwback to the past... if u think u work hard try this...real hard work ...hats off to u, Jeff...and if inever get out that way I'll buy u a beer...maybe even two!
Jeff I appreciate the real view of the efforts of those who came before us. With only hand tools. The craftsmanship with only a hand saw, wood chisels, and a Bit and Brace accomplished so much that is truly amazing. Your efforts to assimilate and bring it home for all are more than admirable The amount of Gypsum in your mine and present-day needs should have large-scale mining interest looking at your area. Are you advertising with your commentary on the crystals or are they that amazing? I truly appreciate your videos and learn more from you than any other Thank you!
Hello friend Jeff Williams! There is a part in the video where you go up without having a safety harness ... I think that most accidents could be avoided if we concentrated more on what we do ... Anyway, many, many congratulations on your effort, I congratulate you on the progress you have made rebuilding the Mine tunnel. Because your work is in relation to what we all like so much, GOLD! But also, because it tries to teach us how to work in a mine, something that is currently not seen on TH-cam channels, with the exception of the Opal mines of Australia where you see how they excavate to remove these precious stones. Then it has a greater merit. Thank you for sharing what you know for doing it with joy. A hug for your achievement! Greetings from Caracas Venezuela.
Old fashioned carpenter and long time viewer from the UK here. I have to say I love the simplicity of the joint's used in the timbering, very straight forward to cut out and assemble while being as strong/safe as possible, great job Jeff! Hope all your hard work pays of in spades... golden spades. I'm sure you are, however please be safe down there man, hope there's always someone else on site with you if your underground.
Last summer I tried to dig a mine and I went about 5 feet down and just kept running into rocks. Now I just have to wait for the weather to get better for the ground to get softer. Couldn’t have gotten inspired without you Jeff!
I heard that and thought what and went back and thought ya I heard what I thought I heard obviously you did too. I appreciate your comment on it, thanx
Mr. Jeff Williams, I was using dug up hard pan material in my back yard in filling the holes in the dirt road in front of my house and came upon a couple of unusual looking rock's. 1 rock has what looks like a rust material surrounding what looks like hard light colored clay. The end piece that broke off looks like the side of a roofed house with a rust color surface with shiny speck's that shine in sunlight. I have a old small stream flowing through my property, but when I look at the landscape of my property there are rocks of white quartz and huge boulder's with white quartz in them. I am pretty sure that where I am digging out the hard pan is either a old river bank or the remains of a long ago glacier where it flowed. The swamp on the other side of the dirt road has mud that is black in color.
At 9:28 that looks like the pulley from a power steering pump. I noticed it has balancing holes or dimples to keep vibration to a minimum when it USED to rotate at high speed.
It’s my birthday. I was thinking it would be sweet to catch a few of your videos. Its a real treat for me. I’m severely disabled and consequently have to live vicariously through others. Thanks!!
