I think on thunder I actually prefer front because you get more airtime. Especially the hill right after the 2 lift you really fly out in the front but don't in the back
@@jasonbaylor9865 Hate to disagree, but you are incorrect. Coming from a Tomorrowland Cast Member, it’s common knowledge among us that our attraction (Space Mountain) and literally every other coaster allows for more airtime in the back row.
@@GianlucaBerger I have operated coasters and designed coasters as well, I'm sure we both know what we are talking about, the specific reason thunder in my opinion has more airtime in the front is due to 4 specific hills. First, the small upwards hill in the coyote tunnel is most intense in the front because once the front has hit the airtime the train hits brakes for the 2nd lift that slow down the backs airtime. Then, the first hill after the 2nd lift (with the goat) the front of the train goes full speed over the airtime hill and into the helix while the back has time to slow down and crest the peak slowly with no airtime. The same is true right after the helix when the train does a similar maneuver upwards (before the mineshaft headchopper). Then for the mineshaft headchopper the back is the better place for airtime because it is a downwards hill meaning the back goes over it faster. Now at the 3rd and final lift, the small pop of airtime as you exit the 3rd lift I also feel is better in the front.
@@GianlucaBerger this is all mainly due to the length of thunders trains. This is why space mountain is not really comparable because the trains are very short and this affects where the airtime is felt throughout the train

I enjoy the beginning of the video where you included yourself outside of the que and walking through it to the ride itself. It really feels like you're there when watching and gives the video a different vibe from the rest. Thanks for that.

Oh my god early 2021 was the most insane time to go to Disneyland. Look at that line queue -- this was for every ride, the wait times for EVERYTHING was 5-10 minutes all day. I remember going with a friend around this time and we rode every single ride in the park. Sure, the covid restrictions made some things weird like ordering food, but what a day that was. We were spoiled until around fall time when people really started coming back.

When I was 4 in 1985 I was too scared to ride the Matterhorn, but I rode Big Thunder Mountain no problem. My 71 year old grandma (at the time) also rode Big Thunder Mountain, haha.
The Matterhorn is scary because it feels like the little things you ride in are going to come off the track, while this ride is in a train, and much more stable.

This was very shortly after the park reopened during covid. I went several times during this period, it was insane how few people there were, for months. Never going to experience that again hahah
Went to Disneyland about 2 or 3 years ago. Did not go on the Big Mountain Thunder Railroad or Splash Mountain. It was a rainy weekend when I went, but I had a really great time. Love to go back there someday.

Yeah this definitely looks like it is around 8 AM or so. Most people don’t go to this attraction first. As a Tomorrowland Cast member, I can definitely say most people go to Space Mountain or Fantasyland (particularly Matterhorn or Peter Pan) compared to New Orleans, Frontierland and Critter Country
So, did they change it up a bit? That TNT at the end is new, right? And were the bats and the waterfall at the beginning new too? I guess I have a bad memory. I don't even remember the second hill/climb at the end with the TNT...did they add that part of the track?? (I live in So Cal and been to Disneyland many many times)
Besides the retrack they did in 2015, the whole track has remained the same since the ride has been built. The TNT is newish, it was added in 2015 after the retrack. The waterfall and bats have always been there. The waterfall isn’t always on, but the bats were there for quiet some time. They’re not easy to see though
this ride is not as bumpy as i remember it at disney world; i decided to ride it while one of my legs was hurting at the top during my 2021 walt disney world vacation because i know when you have adrenaline in your blood, you don't feel pain and i enjoyed the ride, it feeling about as smooth as seven dwarfs mine train, despite not having the technology as the mine train

No mile high Drops, no loops, no extremely crazy elements yet one of the most exhilarating coasters and I've ridden a lot.
I like that not all rollercoasters are super thrill rides. Some of us love this speed

This is the fastest and smoothest of the Disneyland rollercoasters. It feels like you're flying half the time.
