The moth has some good points. TGC seems to focus more on money grabbing rather than putting work on improving gameplay and the SKY experience as a whole. It should be a social game but it's essence now is just typically getting currency and buying stuff. They should learn from some games like Minecraft. Many game changing updates happened to it, but it's original essence remains the same to this day.

I agree. I'm pretty sure they said they wanted sky to be a peaceful game but it's more like candle runs and more candle runs. And then you have to buy stuff to get the full game experience or something. It's not really peaceful it's more stressful if you ask me. I get what they where trying to do when they made it but I don't think they're focusing on the right things when they made it.

I agree with you I'm kind of getting stressed from candle runs I'm so tired. I'm never getting those capes and hair it's too expensive. The game even gave me headaches. I also sometimes get jealous when others have a lot of cosmetics that I do, it kinda makes me unmotivated

I almost quit because I noticed, like a month in, that the game seems to focus on getting cosmetics or more like a "dress-up" game. I don't even have time to make new friends or socialize because I'm busy candle running with my 1 and only close friend in sky lol. You have to grind everyday to get cosmetics and not all have a lot of time to play, so players just grind and don't socialize. I hope they don't raise the prices but sike, they did raise the prices of ascended candles and stuff like that LMAO

Thus, it is kind of embarrassing for me when I just don't have like the 'trending' cosmetics at certain time. Yeah, I stand with this moth

what’s MOST annoying is the fact you literally can not gain hearts without friends. not everyone is able to socialize as easily. you cant enjoy the game by yourself because (1) you can’t sustain your wings so you constantly have to recharge from somewhere and (2) hearts are unachievable without “friends” yet it’s like the basic currency everywhere- like you have to spend 5 hearts or something to get to the capes and stuff in the spirit tree AND finally pay with candles

I completely agree about the hearts, I just learned recently that some capes require 150 hearts!! xD like I thought 30 was too much, but wow, I didn't expect a cape to cost that much haha
But for the wings thing, at first I needed to carry a light source with me, but once you get better at flying, you can just time your flyings with the clouds. Try to fly near the clouds a lot, It helped me to not have to recharge as much.

    • @ketokeko

YES LIKE and it's even hard for me knowing to socialize, i don't want to spend my candles on every single person! and there's the chance that they never connect to give u parts of hearts so i go and befriend everyone expecting they give the candle first bc im broke!! also i recommend going for moths, they are really sweet and will want to befriend you, i'm also a moth so idk what imsaying... anyways it's also really hard to learn candles i just learned that veterans grind on a daily basis like 13 candles, and that 66 candles is so little wtffff

    • @ketokeko
      @ketokeko 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

also the wing things is so annoying bc the game doesnt teach u how to fly and i learned after i got in eden and lost wings, turns out you put the other option that makes u fly like properly fly the 2nd one and then u move with the control u move ur player to above and down, but it's still annoyinggggggg

1 complaint I would say that there's no Favorite option for emotes. I have to scroll down hunting down quickly for 1 emote to greet someone because I feel like a jerk if I don't. The only emotes that are above are recently used, maybe something along those lines in putting Favorite emotes above.

This moth makes some decent points, and if you’re not an avid gamer Sky is definitely going be confusing at first. But that’s one of the reasons I love this game, it doesn’t give you “hints,” it encourages you to explore the world and discover things on your own and with the help of other players. And farming candles with friends makes building your friendship tree with them feel so rewarding! My first Sky friend and I still do weekly Eden runs and frequent candle runs together :) Going through Eden together to build our friendship tree was so fun and helped us grow closer in general. Farming candles also helps it feel like you’ve earned the capes and cosmetics you can get. And in my opinion, for Sky being a free to play game, we as the players have a lot of content to play with and utilize. Yes there are DEFINITELY aspects of the game that could be improved, but as far as things are rn, I’m content :)

You know what i like most about not being able to chat instantly? You can only make friends by trusting others through the actions they do. They can't tell you "trust me", they need to show it, in order to comunicate. And idk i just find this so endearing.

I met this moth once, who played with irl friends. These people would hold him back from getting achievements because they had FOMO. (Even though they were leagues ahead of him.) I encouraged him to play the game on his own, and enjoy it with me and my irl friend. So he starts collecting candles right? He'd go on and on about all the cosmetics he wanted and how they would look so cool on him and how much Sky reminded him Genshin impact throughout every candle run. One day he came up to me incredibly excited, because he said that he was just a couple candles short from getting a cloak he wanted. So we went candle running, and he started counting down "only 2 candles left," and "only one candle left" when I realized that the cloak he's going after is the black cloak from the stealthy survivor. This particular cloak costs 50 hearts not candles.
The moment I explained this and how to get hearts, his enthusiasm took a sharp dip. I'd never seen someone lose their spark in a game so fast. The next day he quit. It wasn't like he didn't have friends who played, but they got through Eden and quit leaving him to play catch up with them again. So he left because his friends we're already playing a different game. However, if it had been just a little easier to get hearts or to get cosmetics, I feel like he would have stuck it out 🤷‍♀️ I get that this game is a social game, but sometimes it isolates and chases away rather than embraces the new players. Just wanted to say I get you. 🦋

Sky really is a weird game. It says it's a social game, but it's actually a grinding hell. If the chat option was free(like, tap a button to chat with another player(free) and a simple accept or not question could appear on said player's screen), I'm sure Sky would be just a lil bit more fun. Maybe also focus on the lore?? I never understood why TGC keeps the lore so deep buried inside the game, where you actively need to cave things out and do extensive research on the game files to discover, that's RIDICULOUS !! Why!!???
Sky turned out to be my special interest, I play it everyday, quests and candles, and I honestly still have fun because I'm exactly the type of player who fits the most with a game like Sky. Not the social shit they sell, the grinding hell. I love doing repetitive behaviour, and candle running is relaxing for me, but it really does feel empty. The seasonal quests are the only moment I actually change that routine, I'm loving Perfomance, but waiting 2 weeks for it is just so 💀💀💀

    • @julesworld1
      @julesworld1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

The lore might intentionally be kept mysterious like in Dark Souls.
But the grinding hell is real. Having to come back daily to keep up makes it feel like the game is a job. Like a micro-cosmos of free market capitalism.
Should introduce some mini-games for candle wax and makes dailys more flexible.

So barely anyone will know about it then, which is unfortunate.
Not a fan of the minigame for candle wax(I'd stop playing lmao), but I agree with flexible quests. Maybe more events that aren't so focused on candles? Every event we have is only about costumers and it's tiring.

    • @amdyinggg
      @amdyinggg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

i also really like repetitive routines, and yeah, even to me candle running seems a little bland sometimes. I just think sky players just need to calm down. I candle run every other day and sometimes that routine is simply screwed if I don’t have time that day and it’s just “oh well”. When you candle run, you don’t have to go to every single realm too. Go to the one with double candles that day, check out geyser or grandma and then wipe out one or two of your favorite areas clean of candles. I feel like how much you enjoy sky is reflected on you’re mindset. If you log on being like “this game is a grinding hell” then yeah, it will be exhausting and a chore. Find some things to listen to (music, podcasts, ect) or friends to drag along, sometimes it’s just the little things! And yes! I do agree that Tgc could improve their game a lot, but if players want to really enjoy it they may need to pay their own part too.

    • @dhamotl7607
      @dhamotl7607 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@amdyinggg I'm well aware of all of that tbh and I'm enjoying it.
I don't cr everything, I just candle run the quest realm sometimes and half of forest because of grandma, but I get all most of my candles through geyser and grandma alone.
I say that it's a grinding hell because of the fact that it IS really grinding intensive after you finish the realms and Eden. It's not personal experience, it's gameplay. Chevrons, geyser and grandma are there to make it less of a grind daily, but it doesn't changes the state the game is atm(play to farm and buy cosmetics).

  • @catnonymouse

It does give you valuable life lessons about money. It's helping my impulse control, knowing that things are expensive, so you have to work hard and save up. Don't spend as soon as you get enough candles/hearts to buy a cosmetic that you like. The first experience going through the whole game is very exciting - especially once you've finished Eden, it's so surreal. After that, it feels more like a daily job in another life lol.
Additionally, I can see that the game is trying to encourage teamwork and community. For me, personally, I would rather go on candle runs with friends as that motivates me more than if I had to go alone.
I've also seen a comment on s different video about how the different stages of the game represent the stages of life:
Isle of Dawn - Baby years, when you are just figuring things out and seeing how the world works.
Daylight Prarie - Childhood, when ignorance is bliss, and things are light and happy.
Hidden Forest - Adolescence, when the pains of puberty and growing up hits you, and you get really sensitive, and life is sometimes difficult.
Valley of Triumph - Teenage years, when you feel on top of the world and mature, and you like to compete with fellow teens.
Golden Wasteland - Adult/middle aged years, when life feels bleak and sort of empty at times.
Vault of Knowledge - Elder years, when you are experienced and wise.
Eye of Eden - Final moments*
And then there is the rebirth
*also in the Eye of Eden, the focus is on sacrificing yourself for others. It gives me Buddhism vibes - where some Buddhists believe in getting good karma and merit for a better rebirth. Like how the more children you save, the more candles you get (I think that's how it works, I'm still a few weeks young in the game).
So maybe this whole spending problem is just another metaphor but for capitalism and a money driven world.
But in all of this, you have friends to help you through it and you aren't alone, at least.
This is just my personal opinion - the way I like to see the game. And I will continue to view it as a metaphor for life as this will encourage me to keep on playing. ^-^

The beginning of this game, when it was still in beta, it was very hand-holdy. Directions on where to go and what to do were very detailed and helpful
But as a person who watched this game progress to what it is now, I agree that it has become more money driven and less New Player friendly
Even the way to become friends with someone has changed so much and evolving even one friendship costs so much, and what happens if said friend decides they don't want to play anymore? Goodbye hard earned candles and hearts!
The core of the game is still exploration and storyline, but it's become too invested in its veterans and tosses its Moths aside
I hope TGC sees this and reflects because Moths are the lifeblood of this game and the only way it can continue to succeed.

Preventing players from conversations actually saves them from getting bullied in the chat. Have you ever seen the global chat of big games like pubg or mobile legends? It can get ugly very easily.
Spending candles on friends makes you value a person's trust. It teaches us, to trust. And be the guiding light to those who are new.
Also.. things are costly. Because devs don't want people to be too competitive. You don't need that fancy cape now. This is a chill game. Where you come back home after a long day of work and spend time with friends or explore alone, slowly.
If you rush, if you don't take time, if you don't explore. You'll never know, what it is all about. No one is going to spoon feed you with hints.
You explore. You learn. You grind. With friends. You learn to grind first, then you get your favourite cape or prop.
This game has been curated, to make us learn about certain values of life; that we all are missing in our modern world. You can't be a crybaby forever.

There should also definitely be some kind of in-game guide that tells you all about the way currency with candles and hearts work and so on... They should also have weekly quests to go alongside daily quests for ppl who cant be online daily. But no, that would mean people will buy less packages for seasons candles/reg candles... And recently TGC has gotten EVEN MORE money grabby.
Thankfully, players have started to complain more and more about this. Although, TGC has been making minimal changes.

But one day I was chilling by the campfire at the tree house, and then 3 moths came in and we start telling our first experience in "Sky".
I don't know if I ever had that moment ever again, because most of them has stopped playing "Sky" which is why even though I'm still a moth, I will always help new player going through the game whether it's from enjoying the gameplay or figuring the tips taught by vet.
For anyone called Moth Sof, Madmoth and Issen, I will always remember our first encounter. 😊

The veterans call it *skyflation,* which is inevitable, because if you actually get to see how much candles an active veteran had been grinding, you'd finally understand why they're righfully called veterans and us called cute moths 😂
The skyflation was there to balance out the economic system of the game's currency. Same money system as our economy irl. It is absurd for us newbies, yes, but that's the point. Early bird gets the worm, and we ain't going nowhere if we don't grind or hustle. Easy path available, which is buying your way through.

Being a new player with 0 knowledge also is hard unless you take a moment to look into it. Small glitches like getting thrown into a different server when with friends and not even being able to chat with friends until I believe 6 candles in total? Idk the game diffidently has more potential and or room for improvement.

When I started playing sky, the music, the landscapes and the exploration got me, but with his comment about the candles it made me think: It's true! Other games give you welcome things, but Sky doesn't, it sells you a beginner package, another thing is to play alone, I met and started playing Sky through a friend, But I played alone because he wasn't online, and I got bored, I even told him that I was thinking of leaving the game because it was repetitive, server split it's annoying when you are with friends or even worse when you are helping moths in Wastelands, the game has good things, surprises like Krills and Eden haha, the story is interesting, share your light and help others so much so that you give your life doing it, Sky is a good game but it could be better .

He got some points. When I first played the game when I realized that everything costs candles (or hearts) I was really confused and mad. Not because there was a money system but simply because either:
A: :inessert item: was really expensive (yes I know not everything is expensive)
B: is something you shouldn't need to pay for
C: H e a r t s. Not only do I have to spend cameras on hearts. But after I buy all of them from the spirits I have to rely on my friends. And 9/10 I don't have enough candles for them either. Because for some reason we need to pay to send gifts to each other.
D: Dont even get me started on the candles from Eden...
E: To make, talk, and interact with friends
I feel like there's a lot of other stuff this game could have done (and fixed), but the money system is something that really does need work.

I think otherwise, the game was made for you to use candles when befriending players due to the fact that the game is about generosity, so If you want a friend you need to prove you are willing to sacrifice atleast the one starting candle for them. And people do not seem to understand the principle of Capitalism and how hard it is to work on a game based on generosity in a capitalist system, it’s a miracle that such a graphic and Well-put game is even for free in my opinion, you can enjoy the gameplay without buying addictional candles, but in the end, to upkeep such a colossal game, TGC and every company has to have a source of income, so the only logical choice is to offer candles and addictional cosmetics for real-life money, as Well as season passes, without which btw, you can still enjoy most of the season features. It is also important that more money is needed to aprecciate the people behind the making of the game, who do not want only just enough money for food and for the upkeep of the company and thus the game itself, but also extra money for themselves cause the skills and talents they need to make such a game are indeed advanced, meaning they deserve enough money to Live stress-free. They all put in quite the effort just to make the overall game for free and there still are people complaining about them being money-grabbers, they need the money and they also want extra money cause seeking comfort and a sense of wealth is human nature despite humans having a generous side. People sometimes need to be in the perspective of that game Developer, or the ones in charge of TGC and any company, being in charge of a company does not make one suddendly a greedy, money-grabbing bastard, cause anyone in charge of a company would show some of those traits, as the ultimate goal, no matter how you put it of the company, is to expand, Get wealthier and bring some kind of an income for the members and participants of that company, I am sure that atleast half of people in charge of companies do care for the game they develop, but technically caring about that is a side quest, as ultimately If the company doesn’t get most of it’s efforts refocused on expansion, it will stagnate, and If that game you invested in suddendly loses popularity, there will not be a source of income and the company, having no money to expand or to have savings, will crash down.

Since I first started playing sky, I’ve never really interacted much with the other players. Basically I had to learn everything by myself from the beginning. Honestly it’s not that bad, once you get the hang of it, you will start enjoying candle runs and buying your favourite cosmetics. The reason why cosmetics costs candles is to push you to reach your goal and continue playing for more cosmetics.

The moth has some great points. Lately TGC has been doing a lot more IAP which really frustrates me honestly. I’ve been playing since Lightseekers so I have much more experience, as well as knowledge of how the game works and how to get things. As a moth, I was also alone most of the time (besides my irl friend playing with me) and the few times I was able to make friends in game, they’d dump me randomly which is why I help moths now. I understand the frustration of not knowing where to go and what everything does, especially when it came to collecting hearts and candles. It took me over a year (with a season long break in Rhythm) to complete all the constellations. I really only came back because of quarantine and I made some friends who I still talk to during Enchantment. But yeah the game has problems and issues that are usually discussed between people but never with devs.

  • @usernameisallfull

I think I get the point this moth is making, but I don't necessarily agree with them. (This is all my opinion, feel free to disagree)
There is literally a question mark button that most games have as a tutorial that explains a lot of the candles and the mechanics of this game, but it's not in your face probably on purpose. It doesn't WANT the player to be forced through tutorials because then it just feels like you're being forced to do something. I personally love that feeling when I can just find out how everything works through trial and error from my first few hours of playing, kind of like "the more you fuck around the more you find out" style. If you still had trouble, that's why the "I need help" button exists. So that the players, not the game, can guide you through, and maybe you'll make a friend or so through that.
Yeah, friending somebody is expensive, and doing stuff with them is expensive, but I think it's not even that bad. The fact that even talking uses candles promotes emote usage, and makes it much more fun than having a free server chat like most games imo.
Yeah, cosmetics are expensive, both candle wise and money wise, but there are almost always free workarounds to them, mainly ts. It feels good being able to save up candles and knowing that I'm rich enough to afford a thing that I always wanted from a ts or event. TGC has also got to be keeping their company afloat somehow, right? It's not like they literally can afford to not put any incentives towards buying the season passes, that's probably one of their major sources of income.
However I'm not happy about the increased price of everything (I'm a goddamn student, I don't have time for grinding 2 hours a day), but I understand the reasons (because of other veterans with literally thousands of candles to spend). But at its core, it's just act meeting strangers in game and messing around with them.
It has flaws and it has strengths like any other game. And tbh, compared to the similar socialising games out there, I think sky cotl's strengths beat its flaws.

I agree with the moth. Was an active player for just about a year between enchantment and dreams. Then logged off for a while and sky has just never been the same. For a game marketed to build friendships to explore together, it’s actually very, very lonely.. especially after my best friend on the game also quit. These days, it seems so terribly hard to get to know people on the game. Everyone is too busy running, everyone is too busy saving up for their next spirit, or the next ts. Sure, I can meet people in the first areas of a couple maps.. but even then, the people there don’t seem to ever want to talk to you again, even if you’ve friended them. It’s like a touch-and-go for every person.. before they’re off for another run, or they bump into their already-made cliques. I have difficulty completing even the dailies due to lack of people to talk to.. I don’t have a single person I feel comfortable to go to in order to hold their hand or ask for a high five. On those days, because I’m so alone, I’m forced to use my alt to compensate. Believe me, I’ve tried making friends to complete these tasks before. Going into various maps to ask people to please, pleaaase accept my heart or candles so I can just complete the daily task.. for them to constantly decline and tell me to “just go to your friends” as if I had one and somehow chose not to go there. I guess as of recent, my experiences of sky have just not been so good. I don’t want to run candles due to burnout.. and I have no friends close enough to me so that I can ask them to help complete the daily tasks. Other than that, what else is there? The maps, the IAPs? I’ve explored everywhere, and I can’t fork up upwards of $30USD for literally every other event. I miss my memories of old sky :( but in reality, what was so different about the game before other than my motivation to grind 😔

They should've added more story to the game. Im a kind of person who loves to see how the lore of a game goes
But it seems like that's not gonna happen anytime soon
The game seems to focus more on these "events" where you need to candle run and just put comments for hearts...
But since im a solo player, i rarely ever get a chance to get the cosmetics of the event
The event also costs money which i don't have
They could've added more to the main story line of the game. Like what happens when you free all the sky kids in eden, or even add more maps when you rebirth a certain amount of times.
They have so much they could do on the main parts of the game but they wasted it all on events. In other words, they just wanted our money-

I completely agree. This game has a lot of potential, and I really hope they finally realised that they need to find ways to attract new players so that they'll keep playing the game. Not all moths are lucky enough to be adopted by kind vets; they'll be confused by a lot of things even after reaching Eden. I'm a returning player (you could say I'm an experienced, broke moth), and I just learned last weeks from yt that we need to grind through cr. Basically I solo-ed through everything-how painful it was to be alone-until I accidentally attracted a few ikemen who are nice enough to guide me around (Apparently they really like music). 9/10 of my previous moth friends never come back to the game, and I rarely sees any new moth sticks around, only vets. I must admit that the IAP are mostly ridiculously expensive especially in some currencies + the grinding hell for cosmetics, Ts and so on. Now I've been playing for weeks and usually spending my time in prairie, wasteland and eden. Chatting with friends, ubering, dodging krills, getting krilled and helping other players in gw. Trials are also fun to do. Other than that the game slowly lose its unique charms. I intentionally left a few spirits so that I could explore later when I'm bored and alone, though I wish for something new, different and exciting stuffs to be added into the game. Or just be merciful with the IAP for once. Or other ways to gain hearts please.

I think it's so funny when people are like "I beat the game!" because they went through Eden 😂. Nah, man beating the game is getting 100 percent completion on every single one of your spirit trees. That means unlocking every cosmetic for every spirit in every world, and then collecting your buffs and earning your cosmetics from the elder. If you have 100 percent completion on every tree available to you, and collected the elder cosmetics, you have beaten the game. 🤷‍♀️

Sky is definitely not for everyone but they need to understand is a social exploring game! The game becomes 10 times better if you actively talk and seek players, the collecting candles can be repetitive and become boring for some but when you have friends you can totally enjoy those aspects. Thought i do agree in what he said that is empty, i dont 100% agree but i wish there where more stuff to do that arent seasons, traveling spirits or one time missions. Like a racing game! That actually puts scores and rewards for players. Props that are free and public that you can use to make sky more fun, similar to the rideable mantas! Maybe allow us to throw snowballs, build snowman, make picnics with players, adoptable pets or more interactive animals like the mantas/ jellyfish/ creb!

As much as I understand it, it's also not the first game or company to pull this trick. Genshin does the same. You have to be active on a daily basis if you don't want to miss out on anything, you have to grind for artifacts, so your characters become stronger and in the end you are mostlikely tempted to pay into the gacha system as well, to have a higher chance of getting the five Star Unit you want, or you control your gambling and wait until it comes back. Primos are avaiable through Events, Quests or Exploring. Or, and most people will give into it sooner or later, you buy them with cash.
So you see, Sky and Genshin are very similar with their tactics. And it's very, very exhausting.

Yes, Sky is a beautiful game filled with many kind players, but for moths who just joined, it's so easy to get lost and not understand, seeing as Sky's tutorial explains 1% of the gameplay. Also, if you don't have time to candle run, you have almost nothing. Candles are used for everything: friends, cosmetics, levelling up emotes, and hearts (which, in turn, are used for cosmetics). So, the moth is speaking facts, but as you play more and more, you get more used to it and just keep playing and help other confused new players.

    1) Yes, everything is candles! If you don’t have the candles, you can’t get anything.

I think Sky is probably the only game I had to do deep research.
    3) I want to stop playing Sky, but something makes me come back to the game. To be honest, I was thinking about “quitting” Sky on my one year mark-when I started playing. But I made so many awesome friends, I can’t bare to just get up and leave.

I’m someone who is still fairly new to the game. So I come from a history of playing gacha games, which have the same dailies/grind or pay for currency thing, so I don’t mind it in sky. I think people are coming into sky and playing it as a main game. You can do that for little while, but it’s meant for you to play it a little everyday, not to spend hours on daily. At the end of the day the only way to fund a free game is to have micro transactions, but you can play the game without. You don’t have to have every cosmetic, there are plenty of great ones you can get just by grinding. New players feel at a disadvantage but have to remember a lot of sky players have been playing for a long time, the limited time cosmetics are their reward for being with the game for so long.

As someone who's played since the end of season of enchantment, I'm already starting to feel the burnouts from candle running that the veterans had told us about (the ones that quit sky and had made a thread/video on why they're leaving). It honestly feels sad this is what sky has succumbed to. All the cosmetics are either locked behind a paywall or takes away what feels like weeks of candles worth. I still play sky till now only because of their musical instruments and even then they aren't pumping out as much instruments than pants and capes and maybe even a little accessories. I'll have to think on whether I need to push on and devote my time into this game because of its music or get some long hiatus on it. I'm not really sure at this point

It's honestly true with what has been said as far as the complaining goes. When I first started, I loved the feeling of helping lost spirits and progressing through the lands with confidence that I will eventually help all the spirits that needed to be helped, but at the same time, there's really nothing else to do when you finish the game. Even though the game was more of an emotional/spiritual experience, it goes without saying that the way that they implemented the currency is just frustrating, because it requires so much grinding just to make a little bit of progress. The same goes for the seasonal events, new players will never be able to gain those rewards again, like the ultimate reward for instance, and even though there's a chance that seasonal spirits will return for a limited time, I don't believe there would be nowhere near enough time to get the candles for the items that they offer just because of the drastic increase in cost. It's also sad that the only other way to possibly get candles is to pay for them, but what can I say, I guess they have to make money somehow, being it's a free game and all. This is mainly why I liked Journey because you go through the whole experience not worrying about a change in how you look or about a currency because it was mainly meant to serve as an experience instead of an adventure/hangout game for other people. Anyways, I loved the game at first, but once it was completed and realized that if I wanted anything without having to pay for it, it sort of made me drift away from it, because I don't have time to grind on something just to spend it, and even if I did, I could be doing something more enjoyable. Another issue would just be the lack of platforms it's on, even though it's not in relation to the main topic at hand, it is something worth mentioning because so far it's only been a mobile game, and even though it was released on Switch, it's not optimized well so you get a huge amount of frame drops and can really be tedious to deal with. I never understood why they didn't make the decision to just prioritize getting Sky released on PC,XBOX, PS, and other platforms because that seems like such a good business move and so far it runs poorly on the console that they decided to port Sky to first(Nintendo Switch). But yeah, I completely agree with the rant, because the complete lack of consideration toward new players and the currency overall just makes the experience a lot lesser than it could've been.
Edit: I forgot to mention that even though the game does encourage players to cooperate with each other to complete certain quests/missions, it can be difficult to even get the minimal amount of people, like the treehouse missions for example. They increase the number of players needed to do a mission after you've completed the previous one, so one goes to two, two goes to three, then three goes to four (I think, it's been a while so correct me if I'm wrong), but the process of waiting can be tedious at times, because it's completely dependant on player activity, so you HAVE to wait for other players to start the mission. Now, there's nothing wrong with cooperative missions that involve other players, but it should also be considered that not everyone will want to do a coop mission, but do want to progress, so I'd hope that there's some sort of single-player implementation in the future, otherwise, the pain of waiting for others to help you when the season has long been passed will continue to be irritating due to the lack of players focused on it.

i think this game would improve a lot if devs implemented different ways to gain wax... maybe harder, longer or more complex missions, or weekly events alongside with the daily simple ones... maybe thats one of the reasons why im really enjoying having to clean the dark crystals everyday, cause at least its something different.... Regular candlerun everyday is absolutely tedious, and i get that the game needs some kind of currency to motivate players to log in and lit the trees, and earn the cosmetics, but ive been playing for a year now and sometimes i loathe having to do the daily candlerun, but everything becomes unaccesible really quickly if u dont candlerun consistently...
I really hope they dont remove the daily darkness events from the season of Shattering, cause i will really really miss that... tbh im desperate to find new things to do in this game, cause i love to fly and travel through the world, but sometimes it feels really like an empty waste of time. Also the socialising part is the hardest part of the game for me...im a solo player, i am terrible at small talk, i cant play music and emotes seem too confusing for me to communicate. There are LOTS of things to improve in this game.

I just started this game a month ago and honestly i would have had so much more to say to that moth as a moth myself. They arent wrong. You're litterally blind going in but i think thats part of it. I mean the whole game reminds me of an afterlife experience. You live, you dream, you achieve and you die. Each world is a season of not only nature but life. The game is so much deeper than candles and dailies. Nobody said you had to log on everyday, but you gotta grind to get those cool cosmetics you want. It's not a perfect game, but I find that everytime I re enter a world, I discover something new.
Went from being frustrated with the game to really wanting to embrace the game. My biggest complaint is when the instance or server splits and my friends get separated or the fact that the only way to get a decent amount of ascended candles is to go through Eden and have to basically start all over. It was hard enough getting the winged light the first time around... What makes you think I want to do it again? Especially the trials? I mean come on! And why are the krill so damn scary? Like is that necessary? These are the kinds of complaints I have and I would have had a much deeper conversation about how a game can improve with your motivation and excitement to discover. Without that, the game's concept is probably not for you. But I would have encouraged them to stay, maybe shown them some cool spots, show them a candle run , and ways they can enjoy the game. Its meant to be enjoyed overtime, not raced through. Just like life.
I felt like this conversation was hollow and baseless. The game will die if we don't ecourage and support each other within it. If i were that player I would have felt the whole game to be meaningless after that discussion. Like as a vetern player you have nothing to add about the game and what you like about it other than you like hanging out with friends? Hell thats only a fraction of the story the game has to tell. I wouldn't have asked them if they were going to quit, I would have encouraged them to give it a chance and to allow you to show them why. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I agree with all of this except the Krill one, I think hes perfect, when you start to see that not everything in this game is love and rainbows is when you take the game seriously, I like it.
My focus is getting candles to buy cosmetics like everyone else, BUT Im not forced to do so, I can find someone playing a music, join a strangers conversation on a nice table, try to learn a song to impress other people, can grab my camera and take nice pictures of my friends and the world, a veteran placing some magic conch that plays music and everyone starts dancing ... theres MANY things to do, if you play only by the game mechanics, you'll get bored.
Still, Im not immune to the problems, I want friends to trade hearts with to buy things and its drive me crazy sometimes ...

@@sanaki_gamer2026 I do wish you the best of luck! I have some tips! When they catch you in their light is when you fly, pick a direction to go in. As soon as you're in the air, hit your glide button and pan your camera behind you. Flap about five times and as soon as he roars which means he's charging, turn to the left or right while still gliding. Use your remaining flaps to complete the turn and get a little more distance. If you're going to Dodge the crew, you have to be prepared to lose the winged light. You're going to get hit hard, many times, before you get the hang of it, and that's just something you're going to have to accept before you dive in. There are also ways to spoof the krill depending on what system you're on. 🤷‍♀️ Do your research and listen to some awesome music you'll be less frightened to give it a shot. After all, you can always get your wing light back and the harder ones like the trials and Eden, there's a discord for it where you can ask people to take you there, free of charge to collect them, or join others for the trials so you're not alone 🦋 again best of luck and may the wind stay under your wings skychild

After I got to know the system of the currency I tried getting as much candles daily as I could to get outfits. Now I feel rather pressured then relaxed when I enter the game. I started to play sky bcz of the relaxing effect it had to me, but now it makes me kinda sad to think of it. I do understand that we need to dedicate us to the game, and that’s fine, but the amount of effort never really paid back to me. I also got kinda busy with work so I was tired when I came home and I couldn’t get a lot of candles during that time, so I couldn’t get a few items, which really frustrated me, lol, and that’s when my motivation vanished. It makes me kinda sad that if your a busy person you can’t really enjoy sky, since it is all about dedication. But that’s not really the fault of TGC, I guess I just don’t got the motivation TvT. And why these Chinese players always ask others to speak in their language?? Don’t get me wrong, not all Chinese players are like this, it’s just a small amount of selected few. I seldom come across with players behave like this, but whenever I met one, 99% are Chinese😅 I mean they got their own Chinese server game, but why would they still assume EVERYONE in Global server type in Chinese when they play SKY here?

But players like him are always be like “Hey, speak in MY language becuz I can’t read yours” Excuse me??? I can’t read yours too, then why wouldn’t YOU be the one who type in my language lol

Recently I've been inviting many of my friends to Sky because I LOVE IT but I've had to take the role of a teacher to them because the mechanics are difficult to understand despite the simplicity of their use. And I understand them completely because when I was a moth I JUST started to understand the game a few months in, and it took me a whole year to know about the daily missions and the special candles from the seasons! and a whole other year for the invite links. I tell my friends they need to explore for themselves but I always explain stuff like the candles, dailys, spirits, seasons, AC, WL, etc. because the game wants you to discover those things on your own... and that depends a lot on how the player is, some may realize quickly, some don't. The lack of communication to new players is a terrible problem.
Also the dude is right, everything needs candles and, they are not only difficult to find, but you also can't get a lot of them. If you don't have time, getting that cool cosmetic you want is HARD, and unless you pay real money, you aren't going to get a lot. Key word is time. Sky's map is sooo big and is expanding more and more with each season, and despite there being extra places to get wax, getting there is PAIN. Bless the special events of the geiser and granny, but again, if you are new and don't know about the existence of these places... then those candles won't rise that quickly.
The cosmetics are expensie yes but I don't mind that much because, at least, it helps to the game.
I just wish the free cosmetics weren't so expensive because it hurts to see those +75 candles go away in seconds after cr for DAYS.

While the moth has good points, I feel like none of their points have any weight that proves it's an objectively bad game. The entire game is about getting and giving. You get candles so you can give them away. You get winged light so you can give them away. The whole point of the game is to struggle to gain so giving feels that much more rewarding. Another big point of the game is to ask for help from other players, so there's barely any tutorial in order to encourage people to make friends. So yeah, they have good reasons for THEM to hate the game, but nothing they say can prove Sky is a bad game. It just proves the game isn't for everybody, which is the case for every single game out there.

I worry tgc is losing sight of what their goal was with this game. I'm sure it couldn't have been just to make money.. sky is my home and it is for many others too. I've made wonderful friends and it's a peaceful place when life is hectic and i need to calm and relax. I used to look forward to events but now i know it will just be a bunch of iap and overpriced re skins. please don't ruin this masterpiece you have created for us tgc...

Honestly I totally agree with the candle currency points, when I started out I had know idea about the candles, hearts an such. Especially since I join the game right near the end of the little prince season I am so bummed I could never get the candles need to get anything during the season.

I get what the moth means, the daily log in surely is tiring but I feel like if you want to keep up in other games with recent events etc., that you also will have to play in the time these events take place. Otherwise I believe you don't have to log in daily onto Sky, if you want to play it casually you can do it. Players don't have to pressure themselves to play everyday, farm candles by candle running for hours.
I myself play the game daily but when I don't want to play much, I do dailies and then log off again. Mostly I only play daily when I bought a seasonal pass, if not I can be inactive for a few days.
You don't have to be bound to the game and pressure yourself, then it's just a matter of time you start to dislike a game.
Reasons for me why I like the game so much is, that it's really comforting and relaxing, most people I meet ingame are really kind and accepting and there is a big diversity of nationalities and ethnicities in the community.
It's really a breeze of fresh air for me after having played games like League of Legends, don't get me wrong I still play sometimes but I kinda gave up on the competitive part and mostly play for fun. 1 game takes like 45 minutes and if your team consists of toxic players and trolls it's wasted time. So people, don't play LoL.

The player has very good points, very smart person . It’s sad how you mock some players record all for likes and make them seem hilarious. That’s not very nice.

I found this video late. I am a veteran from before enchantment and I can say tgc only cares about money and fixing problems that loose them money. Way back there used to be glitches that let you access some of the past seasons elders and buy there cosmetics specify the camp fire with normal candles and they patched it out and removed everyone's campfire who had done the glitch. There was also 4 mushrooms in the season of enchantment area when it came out that gave you a candle each. They where floating and underground but where removed because they broke the economy with how easy it is to get candles. I have complained about the content more than once and the only things I have ever seen patched are ways that they loose money ex getting into office for free and things like being able to walk and do an emote at the same time. I bought the lanturn and they originally advertised it as being able to light the way light candles and recharge your light for solo and groups to make runs easier but then most of the features where removed and it can only light the way. And if you are in a big group everyone holding a candle does the same thing. Tgc only wants our money

Finally someone mentions this problem I relate to you 100%. I barely touched the cosmetics I bought, even when I did all the hard work that came before it was for nothing in the end. And if that doesn't prove that the game does need some serious changes idk what does.

I get the curency thing. It took me ages to find out how to earn/get hearts. Then u figured out like a year ago and yeh it wasn’t fun having played the game wanting to know how other players have such cool looks. I could have resurched but it didn’t cross my mind then.

Let's see... To be honest, it's true that the game doesn't hint anything about candles gaining and hearts to newbies. I had to go through many things and days to finally catch on with what the game wanted me to do.
Furthermore, hearts. This is a point I see pretty annoying. Not only for newbies, but for solo players! There're many objects that require hearts to be purchased. For example, capes! Holly Lord, how on Earth will I be able to gain 100

I love sky simply because its a grinding game and im a sucker for grinding games. Collecting the hearts and candle is whats fun for me which is why i still, even with 1600+ candles still do dailies and candle run. Its just funny dragging your friends and talk along while also feeling productive in a sense. Yeah it can get frustrating to be broke as hell at the start but theres something very charming to me about becomming better and faster at cr and developing a good efficient cr route over time. It makes it even more satisfying to you know worked hard to get that one item you wanted so much for so long. The satisfaction of finally having it.

even after 4 years as a f2p, this 3:50 hurts so much. Yeah, I grinned by butt off playing every day to get 2k candles, not a flex, more like in my persoective I sufferd to get that much. I laugh it off often but since the introduction of Nexting my 200+ eden candles that I accuired for months gone in few days... and then there's the heart currency... for almost everything...
so around this conversation 6:02 ... exploration has become something in the second thing to do, instead to first... because again YOU NEED to farm. it's like do your chorse first before playing outside.
and exploration for me only happens when an OOB is discovered and those are fun.
6:53 about dailies though, a bit in the middle for me. When there is no season going on, I step out of the game and dont do dailies... but SKy has become something like a routine to me for so long, that if I dont do anything, I will get bored or anxious, it's not even the candles anymore, since I have accumilated enough...but there;s just this growing anxiety that if I dont do something that anxiety will just keep growing. I dont know how to explain that well.... I guess this is the part when people say, the grind-mind set is corrupting us. hurting us.
I probably didnt noticed these problems then, because I was ( WAS ) with friends who were ( WERE ) online everyday just like me, so I didnt mind these things until now.

Yep. I am an old player, I have been playing since Android release. And now i lost the account. The Google account that was connected to the game. And i saw that before but now i feel that. Everything is very expensive, now i dont have many friends in the list so i make New friends and.. THAT'S EXPENSIVE💀💀💀
And about player dont want to see problems.. Yeah, when i say A SINGLE Word about "p2w" they say "huuh, its only cosmetics, why are you complaining???" Ofc its *ONLY* cosmetics that looks to be the only way to be cool in this game. OFC it is, the game is about good people and ASLO about good skins. And EVEN after these christmas horns devs were selling for hmm.. *FREAKING $25 or about that, it was 1800rub in Russia.* God, players don't wanna admit that this game is not one of these you can say "the game is free and paying only gives you skins stop crying". Skins are one of main parts of the game, they shoudn't be expensive no matter you pay candles or real money.

@@Lizzy-nx7th the season i started playing was in golden wasteland (this location with a shattered ship). The things you get from pass and for free was similar and that was kinda fair - f2p people could still get something close to ones who pay for pass (but for pass wings and other stuff was pretty bad imo but everyone could get something similar that was fair at least)

As much as it sucks, the moth is right. The game tried to keep the low UI intro from journey, but in a game thats both got in app purchases, a chat system, and in game currency, thats simply not Viable. Its good that there are optional tutorials to read through (which i did and it genuinely helped alot during my first few days) but the game needs to have a few first time tool tips, then the option to fucking turn them off for veteran players

Journey has less content but is a tighter game with a better story and doesn't overstay its welcome. Ascending in the end is fine because it's only 40-80 minutes of work to get there, not grinding most of the week.
Sky really needs more daily variety. It would also be cool if there were small changes pushed to maps randomly, or maybe even like three or four different versions of the map that you can pull from when you join an instance.

Sometimes we too focus on task and mission like it is a work and schedule
I feel bored and hate and get tired of it
But hear my words sky kids , don’t forget that feeling when u first see the amazing graphics, and your friends along side
I changed my boring days of sky by doing less task
I go exploring , racing with friends , music , chatting , swimming competition , hide and seek or explore and sit at beautiful places
Also playing catching games or flying challenges
Even u can mess with the fountain and hot spot in sanctuary
It is boring if the only thing u do in sky is task
Sometimes u need that childish innocent playful heart with a little of creativity , I am sure that u will discover so many new ways to play this game

The only thing I agree on is about the QR code. Me and my boyfriend spent the first hour and a half of the game trying to find a way for us to meet each other in game. Other than that, I'm perfectly fine with the game's mechanics. Not all games are perfect for everyone. Since I like to collect things and customize my character, this game is perfect for me 💖

No joke, when i was a moth and first ever logged into the game, it took me 2 weeks to get out of the first realm. I was lost and frustrated. I thought i messed up the game so bad that it glitched just because i went in the wrong direction in what seems (to a moth) to be an absolute endless desert. I actually restarted the entire game without it saving first because of that. I got back on, scared to mess up again..
the game gave me no objective I could find, nor did i even know that I could honk to find my way to the end..
Sky is increasingly frustrating for moths sometimes and thats just not fair. You lose players that way, especially when you dont give a proper full tutorial and just expect people to know everything about the game already

    • @oo8962
      @oo8962 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Wait, the game does teach you how to honk to find the objectives. That's like the first or 2nd thing they teach.
I think the basic tutorial is pretty clear but they need to make it more clear about candle running thing.
      And trials.
      And all the hidden places.
Maybe it's just me but I love sky's tutorial because it doesn't steer me like any other games that would literally force me to click shit and do levels/missions before letting me to claim things in lobby. I already know how video games works.
Sky is more like "This is how you walk, fly, honk, get wings. Now get your ass to that glowing huge tower over there"
