    I've found a damp microfibre cloth is perfect for getting rid of fluff and whatever else around the door seal. I never have mould in my washing machine, I think, because I always leave the door ajar at the end of every wash cycle. I do the same with the detergent drawer.

    Thank you for the very thorough and in-depth video. I didn't even know about cleaning the detergent tray. Fyi when I clean the inside gasket mine has a flap that if you fold it down you will see a bunch more lint. My model might be slightly different.

    I tried this even though i had a samsung washer and it worked great. I found much mold and much resedue behind the front panel so i had to take it off! It smelt like dead rat and would heat up and make loud screaming like noises but after i checked under the detergent tray my problem was solved! there was a 25 year build up of a mix of asbestos, bleach and dead cockroaches. I also flushed out the water from the bottom and there was some leftovers from 2006 christmas! Thank you so much for the helpful video

    Ugh . I have this machine in my apartment and I absolutely hate it the rubber lint filter. I wish it just had a normal lint filter that you can pull out like a standing dryer.

    Great video, I hadn’t cleaned the detergent tray before, but now will. I would add to the process 1) use a toothbrush to clean the housing for the lint trap; reaching way back gently to though. 2) lift the gasket flap next to the tub (difficult) and run a toothbrush or q-tips there as well as the 3 little holes at the bottom of the gasket. I found I need to do clean every 3 weeks, and I do leave the door ajar.

      Another commenter spoke sarcastically of really needing to dismantle the machine from the floor pan up. I hope mold doesn’t reach further back than the tubing that’s accessible. My laundry comes out fresh if I clean every 3 weeks, regardless of the number of cycles run, so it must be OK. However, today I went a step further, and used a 2’ springy straw brush I had. The brand is CamelBak, and made for cleaning the sip tube. This reached all the way to the back of the tubing where the filter is, and also the small tube for draining. I rotated it around while bringing it back out. There was definitely a LOT of mold up there. Side note - this is now a dedicated brush for the washer. 😆

    • @homehelper9273
      @homehelper9273  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you found it useful. I was cleaning it here after a dozen or so drying cycles but it would depend on the type of materials you're drying. I'd say every 6 cycles or so should be fine. Enjoy

    When you do the Tub Clean with the tablet, why don't you also put bleach in the bleach compartment? My LG manual lists a number of cleaners and where to put them (in the drum, in the bleach compartment, in the detergent compartment). Sounds like I should just do one of them.

    • @homehelper9273
      @homehelper9273  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I believe that they only break off by giving them a firm whack backwards. there's a tab inside that is designed to break, so they are not removable for cleaning etc, just for changing - other videos on removing baffles on washing machines should be generic enough to help you, I think. good luck

    Hmmm… was hoping for some not so obvious info. I clean the gasket, and the lint water while disaster piece of idk why LG is thought that would make sense and continue to do so with other models, and the soap dispenser. The issue is the gasket and between the gasket and tub space. The lint/pet hair that accumulates is insane and I can’t get to it.

  • @brentsabol5383
    @brentsabol5383 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you realize you did absolutely nothing? The entire machine needs to be taken out of where it is, the plate on the bottom needs to be taken off the back, drained, unscrew the actual lint filter out... Clean that out, and then get something long enough with bristles to get into the pipe and clean that out... Then after you power off and reset your system which is another process, then maybe if you are lucky it'll work right again? What you did accomplished absolutely nothing and by the way coming from an HVAC professional... That unit unfortunately is junk, get rid of it while you can! If you have some ingenuity you can make a screen to catch the majority of the lint before it goes into the pipes and lines. This way it'll keep your vents clean enough so your sensors don't get messed up and you don't have to do everything I just said, instead just remove the screen you installed. Just be sure anything you decide to use needs a complete water tight seal around it to make sure nothing gets through. Otherwise every 6 months you are going to be doing the same thing! Your welcome
