The heater fan on my daughters Corsa only worked sometimes if you give it a kick or wiggled the fan connection. I changed the resistor but it still only worked on 4. I disconnected the plug to the fan and noticed that the contacts looked dry and oxidised. I gave it a squirt of contact cleaner and it is now working perfectly. Worth checking before buying new parts.
Legend. Thank you very much for the clear instructions. My daughters car presented this issue last night. Part cost 28 quid from my local motor factor. GEF car parts and they have them in stock. My Wife's Focus also had this problem. It was a bit more fiddly to change, but I noticed the genuine Ford part had been heavily modified from the original. Thanks again.
Thanks Matt. Indeed! It's refreshingly easy to find the resistor. However, there's not much room under the glovebox for a camera and microphone. Vauxhall needs to try harder! 😁
Simple job well and clearly explained as always. I'll give the Corsa credit with that part being a lot easier to get at than on some other cars. And you increase the car's value again with your work and parts.
There’s a fingerprint scanner under the driver’s seat. It unlocks speed three on the fan, adds 200bhp, and guarantees yet more prizes next time you’re at a show. Enjoy!
Just one thing that the first time l have seen a 5.5mm socket and one of my utes l owned the third position didn't work 1 2 and 4 worked l new it was the fan speed resistor l never used because it wae a single cab ute and all you needed was 1 or 2 and my 26 year old ute all its positions work
That was fantastic my heater is occasionally a ruble on setting 4 I'm disabled use my car every night so I hope it's not the fan what do you think I'm going to try to change I with my disability I just can't be without heating your channel if fantastic I love the way you explain no ego simple to understand . @CarSpyTV Hello @ care spy my mechanic changed the regulator tested electrical power banged the fan it triggered for a second anyway we don't know what fan it is as there are several I'm really struggling with no heat can you give any advice on which fan is correct I'm sorry to put on you but thought I'd ask Incase you know . Regards . Haley
Any suggestions as to why my radio goes off when turning heater fan to max (4)? Corsa 1.0 2012. I'm thinking as its an aftermarket stereo its been fitted incorrectly.
I've never had this issue, but the following links might be worth a look: honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/heater-interference-radio-3017253/ forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=738686
@@CarSpyTV I read that link/thread yesterday. Got me thinking it could be weak battery as car has been sitting a while. The highest fan setting could be too much of a drain. Waiting for an o2 sensor to arrive then I'll fire car up and look into it. Thanks for the reply.
Yes. I understand. If it was my car, I'd still start by checking whether it needs a regas. If you're in the UK, KwikFit will check for free. There's info on their website. Good luck.

Good info. Thanks.
I've been putting this job off for ages, so simple I'll have to do it now.
Thanks for showing us how!
You're welcome. More Corsa videos to follow.
Thank you for demonstrating this repair so well. Good to know.
No worries, RDT. This is a fairly common fault.
Very nice and clear how-to.
Thanks Bob.

Good to see another useful Corsa video. It’s good to see that Vauxhall engineers used their brains, when fitting this resistor. Lol

Thank you, Nta16. The Corsa's electrical connectors typically come apart easily, too. That's a welcome change to some cars! Best wishes as always.

You can test the resistor with a multi meter and the connections for faults
Thanks for the info, Ashman.
I only have 2 settings, can you tell me where 3 and 4 are will be much better, have yourself a good week mate

@@CarSpyTV At a show for May Bank Holiday, nec, Birmingham, going now to look for this switch 😆 lol

Thanks for the comment, Les. I had to hunt high and low to find a 5.5mm!
Use an imperial 7/32 socket. That will fit exactly.
Another great video!
Thank you. Enjoying your channel, too. 😁

Thank you for the kind comment, Haley. If you ever need a fan, it's available for a modest price on eBay. Best wishes from CarSpyTV.

Hello. I suggest you find the part number of the old fan. It's likely written on it. You can then buy a replacement with the same number. Good luck.
@CarSpyTV thanks at car spy I've now had it fixed new fan and regulator. I really appreciate your support on this. Kind regards. Haley
Excellent video and so well explained. Thanks buddy :)
Thank you, Mark. More Corsa content to follow.
hi @CarSpyTV, do you know part number or if the connector has 5 pins?. thanks!
Hello. You might find some information via the following link. See:

If you don't have a 5.5mm socket. Both my tool kits did not, then an imperial 7/32 socket fits exactly.
Good info. Thank you.
Very informative & well explained.
Thanks Anne.
These things are notorious for breaking, I have replaced mines twice. Sometimes you might need to replace the loom connecting it and the resistor.
Twice! That's bad luck.
How do you remove the cover to get to the resister unit please.
Hello. The video shows the entire process. Best wishes from CarSpyTV.
Hi mine only work on 2 and 4 should I replace the resistor
I would if it was my car.
Mine blows at all speeds, however A/C kicks in only if position 4 is selected. Does fault come from same resistor ? Cheers😊
If the air con is weak but working, it might be worth checking whether it needs a regas.
Any suggestions as to why my radio goes off when turning heater fan to max (4)?

Why wont my fan turn off , turning the control knob soesnt turn it off , constantly running
That’s not the case, only at 4 speed it freezes, all other speeds it blows natural air. Cheers
