This is a really nice boat. Has a coolness factor knowing that it is built off of a work boat platform while still not feeling like you are on a work boat. Lobster boats are deffinately the way to go
I REALLY like this boat!!! I'd like to see one a little bigger with a single diesel! Maybe even see an enclosed cockpit with AC. This boat would be great for a weekend on the intercoastal with the kids!
Hello captain im Out On The Reef The guy with the Crooked pilothouse boat, now this boat is very practical i like it and love the look i just wish it had a looking door in the back. Great boat review captain and navigate safe⚓⚓👍
@@BobWiersema thank you and yes i agree the outside transom gives you a lot if room But yes I agree with you my boat model is nice and looking even though it's crooked LOL
Capt Steve thanks for making the video on Mercury marine engines really interesting. Could you do a boat test video of Jarrett bays new 84’ sportfish its stunning. Letting viewers know the difference between a custom yacht and a production like Viking. Also the Jarrett bay 90’ with all the technological advances titanium shafts, carbon fiber etc..the amazing craftsmanship that goes in creating custom salons it’s pretty amazing. Really enjoy your videos thank you.
I know the 248 tournament is the same hull but it would be nice to see a review on that model for the fisherman. Eastern boats has one on their website but it is not very detailed.
All great for the North East where your boat is winterized 8 months out of the year. Down south we need a more year round boat, not a two month party boat. Our boats have to fish, dive, crab, shrimp, cruise, lounge, sandbar, camp and be trailered. If you can put a Yami 150 on it, you can certainly put a Yami 200 on it, considering both motors stat the same. I do like the Lobstah boat look, but pilot house needs to be longer, livable, and cockpit area needs to be longer too. Sorry, but couches have to go.
I found the slow speed handling was crap. Make sure you get the bow thruster and learn to trim up the outboard around the dock. Build quality and ride were good!
I own a boat with a similar ride. He means that if you are traveling around 18 to 22 mph you will have a much more comfortable ride. The round bilge hulls will not pound in this speed range if designed properly.
Nice boat yet all designs have trade offs. The one downside I can see at a glance is wind pushing that hard top. That is not a knock, it really isn't, just a fact of the design. I had a similar design in a 20 foot model (not the same, I realize) but, heading into a headwind, I could barely make head way on afternoon. I turned around 180 degrees and that big space filled with air, practically flew back the way I had come. ALL true boat tests so show the pros/cons of any design--because ALL designs have them. Did I say it was a big thing? No, I did not--with my old boat, that only happened once, 99 percent of the time, it was a joy and it ALWAYS was good to have the protection from the spray and sun--always.
The only 'consistent' thing with all these boat tests and reviews... Is the person conducting them makes it a point to avoid the 'Price' to begin with... And then comes up with a politicians excuse for having done so... Usually turns out to be Overpriced and Overrated... 'Nuff said!!!...
They say past 43 mph that it starts pushing water instead of sitting on top of it..it becomes inefficient beyond 43 mph.. but its probably capable of 55 mph with right prop and motor..
As a Native New Englander, I have to say, I've loved Eastern Boats since before I could walk!!!

Wow..this little boat does almost everything, and very well and economically. I can tell Capt. Steve likes it too.
Good Bonezz yes he does!
Wow what a nice vessel. I cant believe it runs on a single 150. Great use of space!

I like the design of your boat better but I do like the rear seating in this one.

Thanks for the great idea, will share with Capt. Steve and the BoatTEST Team! And thanks for watching!
With a few must have options this boat has it chimes in at around $150,000 with delivery and tax.
If I had that budget I would buy something else.
agree. for that price I'd be in a Ranger Tug or Cutwater all day.
OH man....I'd love to own one of these. Maybe one day hahaha
Nice flat hull aft yields some thrifty cruising mpg. That 3.2 is pretty great!
Is this a reupload or was it on the website sooner or something? I definitely saw this before
We usually post our tests on our website before we upload to TH-cam. Please sign up for our newsletter on Boattest.com. Thanks!
I saw this on their website a few weeks ago aswell. I think all of their videos are in their website before they get posted on TH-cam.
I saw this on Facebook yesterday.

cool old race car .
nice boat ,but it seems hard to re board if you are in the water
That would be perfect for me...its really all the boat I would ever need
How much
Nice boat. Go Eastern.
Love it .wish the hard top was a lower profile ??
The KPH for 5700 RPM should be 64.1 not 164.1

Dude, it's only 24 feet.
What a great review and a fun boat
Do they have a model where the back of the cabin is closed off.
Great review, as always, Captain Steve! You’re really good at what you do! Thanks.
I found the slow speed handling was crap. Make sure you get the bow thruster and learn to trim up the outboard around the dock. Build quality and ride were good!
That little handle must have really been difficult if steve would settle for a turn n lock latch
Great review regardless
Very nice and the price is ?
Not the prettiest boat at the marina but very practical and I quite like it
Absolutely love it. I would like to take one out for a day.
I really love this boat. Anyone have a ballpark price for one like this?
At 7:20 in you said "this likes to accommodate the seas and not oppose the seas". I don't understand...
Otherwise I love your reviews
I know what you mean. Maybe roll with the flow was his thought? I don't know.

Wonder if you can put two engines
7:58 164 Kilometers per Hour!!!!
That is one fast boat!
At rest the rounded hull makes an unstable platform, see how she rocked at the dock.
Its a 24ft boat that weights less than 4k pounds. I think your expectations are a little high.

Almost has the lines of a Cape Islander, which are the best lobster boats afloat.
Do they even make Johnson or Evenrude anymore?
No. The parent company BRP shut them down. Johnson and Evinrude went out of business.

Wonder how fast with a 250
Faster than 164km/h
They say past 43 mph that it starts pushing water instead of sitting on top of it..it becomes inefficient beyond 43 mph.. but its probably capable of 55 mph with right prop and motor..
Exactly what I want
Nice…
Who wants to look at a fuel filter on a 200.000 boat
What?
It's not a $200,000 boat. Who wants to crawl into the bilge to change a fuel filter?
A 100,000. Nope buy a 2 year old boat with way more options.
The poor man's Hinkley, but nice nonetheless!
Hey it's a trash receptacle receptacle receptacle trash receptacle oh brother water salesman
Very unstable .
Boats rock on the water. Doesn’t mean they are unstable or unsafe
bla bla bla
