      Hi Ian. Thanks for watching and your comments. It is a really good cradle and have used it for the last two years without a problem until last week. The camera on my phone packed up. Phone works fine but camera not. I suspect it is a result of the phone being about 5 years old and using it on my bike, which has been in the news a lot recently. That said O have been using the phone on my bike longer than 2 years, probably for the 5 years with different cradles, the last one being the one in this video which I still love. Stay safe. Bily

    Just subscribed and ordered phone holder. I purchased the nav 6 and 1st time I tried to use it the touch screen was intermittent. When I finally managed to input destination screen jumped all over the place then reverted back to home screen.So this in my opinion is way better than the Garmin Nav 6. Keep up with the channel Billy very useful information and advice

    Cool product and good solution in cool or cloudy conditions. Counting on your phone for navigation can be tricky in hot sunny contains with their tendency to over heat.

    I have exactly the cradle, worked great until I went on a longer trip from South England to Scotland.
    Due to its rigidity it does transfer vibrations to the phone and the camera on my phone was knackered.
    I now use that phone as a permanent sat-nav/radio/podcast station.
    Great product but beware of your phone camera

    • @BillysBikeAdventures
      @BillysBikeAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Juan. I don't but its exactly the same for removing the sat nav if you ever had one. If not, in the video I talk about locking the cradle in to place. There is bar at the back of the of the sat nav preparation that needs to be pulled out to be able to release the cradle. Its at the back on the left as you look at the nav mount. If still a prob I will do a quick video for you and send to you. Let me know. Cheers. Billy

      It is a good option for the bike and phone if you don't want to spend out on a Nav 5/6 (not worth it). I put a video on a couple of days ago reference the new cradle from BMW that allows for the wheel to be used in conjunction with the Connected nav app. I get mine latest Dec 10th. Will be adding a user review shortly after that. See if its worth £188. Thanks for watching and your comments. Stay safe. Billy

      That’s awesome. Can’t get me head around £600 for a sat nav that is not as good as a phone and a good app. I am away this coming weekend in Wales and trying out a new nav app. Review to follow. The Motorrad app great but like them all is lacking in something. Specifically more info on the screen in nav mode or distance to destination, time of arrival etc just like google maps does. If it had that it would be one of the best out there. 👍🏼

    Hi Billy…great video, and another question for you. When you set your iPhone in the cradle and connect it, can you control it (the mobile) using the bike’s multi-controller? Or do you have to use the phone in the usual way. I have the BMW connected App and have paired it with the bike if that makes any difference. Cheers Gwyn

    • @BillysBikeAdventures
      @BillysBikeAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for watching and your question. As far as the multi controller is concerned, you can,t use it to control the phone in the cradle. If you had the new BMW Connected cradle (UK £188) which connects to the phone via Bluetooth you can for limited function. Using the cheap cradle you can use the multi wheel to use some functions through the TFT screen, again connected via Bluetooth, to call someone if you have a headset connected as well as a couple of other functions. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers. Billy

      Hi Paulo. Thanks for watching the video and your question. In short no, the cradle will not continue to draw power from the battery when you switch off the bike. I bought a cradle from BMW for my 2022 GSA. It is a BMW product and looked great, but I lost two phones on the freeway. The first one I may not have secured properly. The phone was over heating (it was 100 F). I intended to remove it from the cradle at a rest stop, but shaded it with my jacket instead. I may have forgotten to tighten the thumb screw and it flew off on the freeway. The second phone was secured as designed, but after few bumps in a construction zone on freeway, the new phone flew off too. Neither phone was recovered and my cost was over $1,000 USD. Your product is different, but I will not bet another phone on it.

      Hi there and thanks for watching. Eventually yes this cradle will do the same. Its exactly what happened to my phone. QUadlock ok but depends on where you place it. The dampener not really that great so placement is very important. The best place i have found so far to place a mount for a phone is on the handle bar between the clamps. Seems to be very little vibration and if there is vibration it does not seem to be 'high' intensity vibrations. Cheers. Billy

      Hi Steven. Thanks mate. Great to hear from you! Yes a bit of a break (too long) so good to be back doing these videos again. Waterproofness, a good question. The only issue I foresee is utilising the charging feature of the cradle. Would be risky in a proper downpour to have the usb exposed to the elements. As long as your phone has a water proof case (a slimline case at that) you’re pretty much set. I personally don’t think the expense of the BMW sat nav can be justified when this cradle is a great option. 👍🏼👍🏼

      Hi PMitchell106. Thanks for your question. The cable at the back is for an alternative power source. The cradle can be used without the Motorrad sat nav preparation so can plug into power elsewhere for the USB on the cradle to power up. TBH, I will probably be getting new case as I had the quad lock originally for the mount I can use on my peddle bike. I won’t be using quadlock for my GS as your would get all the vibrations and can damage your camera as these smart phone camera rely on stabilisers and the constant vibration can damage the cameras. Hi Dana. Yes there is. I use quad lock which is a fairly decent size case think as well for my iPhone 7 Plus. I would also not use without a case. It is held in the cradle very nicely and from however 👍🏼

      Hi Pedro. Thanks for your message. I had the same thing on the very first cradle I bought. It’s either a product fault or the pins not connecting with the gps mount. Might be worth sending back and getting another one. Hope you get it sorted. Ride safe. Billy 👍🏼

    I would love to send you a picture of my phone after my first ride using this mount, but I cant because its smashed on the ground while I was riding. Its great that the cradle is all under lock and key, but my Samsung S10 is just sitting there pinned with this one spring clamp???.. which doesn't hold up under hard bumps... there really needs to be a securing mechanism for the cell phone itself. Well there you have it, and now I will go and spend that $400 that I would have spent on the GPS on getting my phone repaired or placed! Urgh!

    • @BillysBikeAdventures
      @BillysBikeAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dan. Really sorry to hear that this cradle did not secure your phone. Were you off road with this cradle or road? its the first I have heard of this but that does not mean it has not happened before. I have a giveaway of three of these cradles and I will be sure to feedback your experience as important to pass on. I know that does not help you but may very well help others. Thanks for letting me know and would be good to know the circumstances ie off road / road riding when this happened! Good luck. Billy

      @@BillysBikeAdventures Hi Billy, I was riding on a hilly and bumpy secondary paved road. I believe that the weight of the phone pushed down on the spring loaded arm when hitting several bumps in a row and allowed the top hooks to loose the connection. Also with my Samsung S10 there was space enough that the phone was either sitting out at those tabs or against the back "flush against the mount". I'm going to use an S10 phone case and use "3M Dual Lock" behind this case now to continue to use the mount. This will take away the weight of the phone pressing down on the spring arm over bumps. The repair on my phone was $500 CAD, and it cant happen again. :-( If you like I can send you pictures. Thanks for listening!

      Hi Dan. Thanks for letting me know. The pics would be great as I can share these on my channel if you are ok with that. The spring mech is pretty sturdy, certainly on the one I have, but that said i have not been on anything like you have with my bike so will definitely let others know. Again sorry this has been your experience. All the best, ride safe! Billy

      Hi Steve. Agree to some degree. However, Wireless charging is not really wireless as you still need a cable to plug into the plate you connect your phone too.
