The market hall you were in is Sukiennice, one of the oldest market halls in Poland, dating back to 13th century :) Originally the goods that were traded there were mainly cloth (thus the name “sukno” means “cloth”) and salt from Wieliczka :)
Jenny and Jacob, you are very natural down-to-earth young couple. It was really fun watching your video. It seems you had a good time in Krakow, didn't you?
Hi there. Now in old capital of Poland. Glowny - main. Yes, Krakow wasn't destroyed. Germans had they base in Krakow. Apart from that this settlement has very good place for it. Something like fengshui. So might be that helps this town/city to exist. This long building in main square, Sukiennice were built for trading. Shopping centre of olden days ;) As you going south, you heading higher above the level of the sea. Is going to be colder. I do recommend having soups. You won't put on waight and that warm you up. (obviously warm wine or tea with rum is also good 😀) Quite a few foreigners likes our soups. Very specific one, especially in Zakopane - kwasnica, based on sour cabbage. As you know sour - fermented with salt vegetables are good for our guts. Keep warm! Best regards 💞
The soups here have been soooo amazing and definitely help us warm up! We love it. Thank you so much for your comments and great information! Cheers friend ♥️

Guys, Thanks for visiting but let me be clear: Adam Mickiewicz is the biggest Polish writer. He is like Shakespeare for England. He is definitely worth to proper pronunciation his name. The truth is that we hadn't snow in Cracow for last 7 years, so You had a luck this year. My daughter was born at 2015 and she first time saw snow in the Cracow at January last year
This restaurant was much better then the one in Warsaw! I was worried for a moment you will not find decent place and have proper Polish food. I love watching someone so excited to be cold XD
Poland was a mess during WW2, loads of buildings were damaged and later renovated, but not nearly to the extent of Warsaw, which was practically down to the ground and had to be rebuilt from scratch after 1945. If you travel a bit around Poland - there are hundreds of bigger and smaller cities and towns that have lots of buildings dating back to middle ages.
P.S. When you mentioned love for castles - I had to add one more thing - visiting Malbork castle is a must have for any castle lover - it is a biggest castle in the world and it is located in Poland :). Next to Malbork the Wawel castle in Krakow is little :D. Just be prepared - you need at least 3 hours for a full trip of Malbork castle museum.
It's very nice to watch your reports from Krakow 😊...really....I am touched by your enthusiasm. Big props for the sour soup - "żurek". This soup is not only tasty, but also healthy (of course, when prepared properly). Krakow was not destroyed during 2WW unlike Warsaw, so what you see in Krakow is authentic old buildings. This shop in the middle of the market square is called "Sukiennice", it is one of the oldest supermarkets in Europe (the world?). Your must visit the Wieliczka, old salt mine, which has been operating CONTINUOUSLY (!!!) for over 700 years. It is on the UNESCO list of world cultural virginities. ....And the concentration camp in Auschwitz (Oświęcim). It's not a fancy & light experience, but it's a must. After seeing this, many things regarding 2WW , Nazism, etc. are seen in a different light. ....and Zakopane... well. The mountains are beautiful, but the city....mmmm...less than average. Expensive, lots of tourists and a lot of kitsch. City Wrocław - I recommend it! definitely. I wish you many nice moments and discoveries in Poland 😊😊😊 PS. Among the dishes, try dumplings - pierogi. Necessarily. PS 2. Sorry for my English.
Hey Jacob and Jenny...what was the name of the little bistro that you went to in this video? I spend a lot of time in Krakow and would appreciate it if when you go to eateries you mention both the name of the restaurant and the cost of your meal-that would help a lot! Thanks
2:08 The letter Ł is NOT an L. It's spelled like native English spell the 'Wh' in Whiskey, try to remember Whiskey without iskey = Ł. The easy thing about Polish is, that every letter is always spelled the exact same way. There are no silent letters & once you learned all the sounds the additional letters make, you can correctly read & spell polish for example ó is spelled like an u.
Kraków wasn't levelled like Warsaw, thanks God. I'm glad you guys enjoy Poland so much. It would be a shame if you missed out on the salt mines. Go visit at least one of them.
I'm an American that lives in Krakow and I gotta say as my fellow American expat friends and myself that have been here for years have noticed. You guys probably stuck out like a sore thumb with speaking so loud and doing the huge toothy smiles that say American tourists instantly lol. And to answer your questions Krakow received very little damage in the war so yes most of the buildings in the old town are original and up to a thousand years old for some of them. As someone who has lived in Poland for years and can speak an amount of Polish those tries at pronunciation made me cringe but it was a valiant effort 😅
@@NataliaD.Ś I've been here for three years. It was a shock at first with family life of having to attend so many family parties. Plus bureaucracy of how everything requires paperwork that was delivered by carrier pigeons and signed by the prime minister himself 🤣. But you get used to it over time. My favourite culture shock was work culture. At first I worked for my American job remotely that I just took with me. Once I had to leave that I got a job here at a Polish company and was guaranteed 26 paid vacation days plus separate paid sick time. Not to mention the company parties and being treated like a human being. I just remember my American job made me pass out a few times from exhaustion and now here with a polish job I feel completely happy.
1200’s woah that’s some bad chronology right there. Yes, there’s old buildings, but not that old. You might find a few stones in the Churches of St Adalbert & St Andrew, or in Wawel Castle, but they’ve all had their interiors & exteriors, as well as their structures modified and built upon many times.

Jenny, you're the biggest snow fan I've ever seen 😅 The soup you ate is called żurek and it's made of soured rye flour. It can be served in bread. Yes, inside a loaf of bread. This version is even more delicious! Have you ever heard of such a sport as ski jumping? It is a very popular in Poland. While in Zakopane, you can try to see the ski jumping hills. Maybe you'll come across a training session :) This is how it looks like in Zakopane during World Cup competition - th-cam.com/video/qja6FahJL0g/w-d-xo.html
The largest and most beautiful Christmas market in Poland is in Wrocław. And you should try other traditional Polish dishes: kaszanka, flaki, tatar, czerwony barszcz, zupa ogórkowa.
Those steps were so narrow going up! Reminds me of the steps going up to the Blarney Stone in Ireland! lol I def need to get back to Poland someday, I was only there 1.5 days so didn't have much time to explore!

We will add that to our list!! Thanks for the recommendation :)
Adam Mickiewicz to jeden z wieszczów- największych pieców Romantyzmu. Slowacki Juliusz i Zygmunt Krasiński to pozostali dwaj...masz w Krakowie Aleję Trzech Wieszczów czyli mała obwodnicę....
Thanks so much for the information :)
I like snowy
We do too ♥️☺️
Nice Video :)
Thank you so much :)
The truth is that we hadn't snow in Cracow for last 7 years, so You had a luck this year. My daughter was born at 2015 and she first time saw snow in the Cracow at January last year
Wow that is crazy!! We brought the snow haha ❄️ I hope your daughter enjoyed her first snow and much as we enjoy it!! Thanks for watching friend :)
This restaurant was much better then the one in Warsaw!
I was worried for a moment you will not find decent place and have proper Polish food.
I love watching someone so excited to be cold XD
We agree! This one was much better! We had the best food here! Thank you for your comment :)
Super mega ultra❤❤❤
Cheers friend ♥️🇵🇱
That is good to know! We will have to keep an eye out for those buildings. Thank you for the information :)
You should ask someone to pronounce name of this poet on statue Adam Mickiewicz - it's something more or less close to: Adam Meetskeyeveetch ;)
That is good to know!! Thanks for watching :)
Krakow is the most beautiful city in the whole of Europe, the second place is also in Bialystok in Poland
It is so gorgeous!! We love it🇵🇱 thanks so much for watching friend!
The cute restaurant, was it called Polska Restaurant, Beera Meiselsa 22 street?
Yes!! We absolutely loved it!
Your
must visit the Wieliczka, old salt mine, which has been operating CONTINUOUSLY (!!!) for over 700 years.
City Wrocław - I recommend it! definitely.
I wish you many nice moments and discoveries in Poland 😊😊😊
PS. Among the dishes, try dumplings - pierogi. Necessarily.
PS 2. Sorry for my English.
Wow this is all such amazing information! Thank you so much for writing it all out for us. Your English is amazing! 🙌🏼 cheers friend!!
Great video,
Is it better to fly from the USA to Krakow or Warsaw to start your trip, and end it in either City?
Cheers
Thank you so much! There seemed to be more international flights to Warsaw so we flew into there :)
Going to Warsaw and Krakow next week. Did you get the train tickets the same day at the train station?
We got our tickets on an app called PKP Intercity an hour before we got to the train station but there were ticket kiosks at the station
Thank you so much@@JacobandJennyTravel
Hmmm.. dziś jadłem zurek i pierogi 😊
@rozgniatacz_mend ta wiedza nie była dla twojej głowy napisana
How delicious!! Thanks for watching friend :)
Hey Jacob and Jenny...what was the name of the little bistro that you went to in this video? I spend a lot of time in Krakow and would appreciate it if when you go to eateries you mention both the name of the restaurant and the cost of your meal-that would help a lot! Thanks
Hi friend!! I’m so sorry I don’t remember but we will definitely keep that in mind for the future. Thanks so much for watching :)
2:08 The letter Ł is NOT an L.
It's spelled like native English spell the 'Wh' in Whiskey, try to remember Whiskey without iskey = Ł.
The easy thing about Polish is, that every letter is always spelled the exact same way.
There are no silent letters & once you learned all the sounds the additional letters make,
you can correctly read & spell polish for example ó is spelled like an u.
That is great information! Thank you for sharing :)
Kraków wasn't levelled like Warsaw, thanks God. I'm glad you guys enjoy Poland so much. It would be a shame if you missed out on the salt mines. Go visit at least one of them.
We are so happy for that too! Thank you so much for the recommendation :) we have heard the salt mine is amazing!
Hi there. I would recommend you visit Lublin. You will be impress. 😊
Hi!! Thank you so much for your recommendation! We will look into it :)
How do you enjoy living in Poland? I guess the cultural shock must have been pretty big at first? 😂
That is good to know! Hope you’re enjoying your time in Poland! It is an amazing place :)
Rynek Główny - Main Square :)
It is beautiful 🇵🇱😍
Wrocław is the best!
We definitely need to go there 🎄🇵🇱
1200’s woah that’s some bad chronology right there. Yes, there’s old buildings, but not that old. You might find a few stones in the Churches of St Adalbert & St Andrew, or in Wawel Castle, but they’ve all had their interiors & exteriors, as well as their structures modified and built upon many times.
That is good to know! Thanks for the information :)
Zaraz, chwila.
Hahah no that was not us! Thank you for watching :)
Jenny, you're the biggest snow fan I've ever seen 😅
The soup you ate is called żurek and it's made of soured rye flour. It can be served in bread. Yes, inside a loaf of bread. This version is even more delicious!
Have you ever heard of such a sport as ski jumping? It is a very popular in Poland. While in Zakopane, you can try to see the ski jumping hills. Maybe you'll come across a training session :)
This is how it looks like in Zakopane during World Cup competition - th-cam.com/video/qja6FahJL0g/w-d-xo.html
Hahahaha I do love snow a lot ❄️😂 the soup was so delicious. That is good to know! We will look it up. Thanks for the information :)
Najładniejszy Jarmark jest we Wrocławiu !!!!!!
We definitely need to go there someday soon ❄️🎄
The largest and most beautiful Christmas market in Poland is in Wrocław.
And you should try other traditional Polish dishes: kaszanka, flaki, tatar, czerwony barszcz, zupa ogórkowa.
We definitely need to go to Wrocław someday!! It sounds amazing! Thank you for the recommendations :)
How was the train ride? What train did you take?
It was great! We took a direct train from Warsaw to Krakow! Very easy :)
@@JacobandJennyTravel I ment, if it has been high speed pendolino (EIP) or the classic one: engine + cars (EIC, IC or TLK)?
Make a snowman !!!!
We definitely will soon ❄️🙌🏼
The Royal Capital City of Kraków - City retains the title of capital. Poznań has a similar name - The Capital City of Poznań.
That is good to know! Thanks friend!
Those steps were so narrow going up! Reminds me of the steps going up to the Blarney Stone in Ireland! lol I def need to get back to Poland someday, I was only there 1.5 days so didn't have much time to explore!
Ooo we will have to do that someday too! And prepare for steps 😂 you should definitely visit Poland again, it’s so magical at Christmas time 🎄
Do you have plans go to Gdansk?
We don’t this trip, but hopefully we will be back very soon 🇵🇱
Hello ;)
