I got the same but in lavender, also in Toronto. Was lucky to get one in bud. As far as I know the buds will be visible as soon as growth appears so the ones you show with big leaves probably did not bloom the same season
very nice! Mine actually didn't bloom the first season and I ended up giving it away to a friend as I was reorganizing my beds. I am planning to add one back into my garden soon but I only have room for one. So still deciding which colour I should go with. Lavender must be so pretty!!!
I love peony, they are all beautiful, I just somehow acrossed and found your channel, have subscribed, I planted some peony in the ground today too, by the way, I love roses too. Thank you for sharing.
The reason for planting that tree peony so deep is that it is grafted onto a herbaceous peony root. If you do not plant it deep enough, the root will have sprouts, which will be herbaceous peonies. Over time the tree peony will sprout its own roots. Until then, you do not want the herbaceous peony to sprout and use up the nutrients that need to go to the tree. If you start seeing sprouts from the herbaceous peony coming to the surface you may need to replant even deeper. Definitely dig down a little and cut any off that sprout.
