This gives me the feeling that France was a good, happy place, and nothing was ever wrong there. I know that's idealistic, but maybe it had a good time period in the past.
Fair France, eldest daughter of the Church, the countryside of which was once dotted by the most noble convents, monasterys and abbeys in the world. Institutions of such renown that candidates came from all over the world to be a part of their holy heritage. Alas, what the French Revolution could not accomplish in 200 years, Vatican ll and its Modernist aftermath accomplished in a mere 20. Long live the Vendee!

Absolutely beautiful. Hearing your talent here on youtube is my first Zither listening experience. Again I applaud your musical talent, but at the same time your instrument deserves praise as well. God bless those who designed and built such a beautiful sounding instrument. Thank you

I was just watching videos of people attempting to play an American contraption zither called a tremolla, and thinking you might be able to play a bottle neck slide with that extended pinky.
Hello, I use a pair of Charter Oaks E700 microphones. You can see them in some of my other videos, EG: A Zither Symphony th-cam.com/video/SIY0L0y5-3g/w-d-xo.html
Oh wow. What magnificent music . And nice playing sir. Can you explain to me about this instrument?. And where can i buy an instrument like this in my country sri lanka.i mean is it available in my country ?
Thanks for your appreciation. You can look for a 2nd hand instrument online or try Hopf in Germany. Look for a 5 chord zither (single or double melody string - both OK)
Hi Etienne, Lovely tunes ! The last 2 were my favourites. I noticed that there are 2 very small metal levers/switches at the top of your zither by the lower 2 sets of chord strings. Can I ask what these are for please? Do they change the sound, or are they there for another reason (to adjust the height/change the angle of the supports under the instrument maybe?)
Hello Brian. The lever when upright raises a small tab which lifts the string slightly. The vibrating length of the string becomes shorter making the note a semi tone higher. It is like putting a finger on the 1st fret of a guitar string. In my tuning (which is different from the original tuning) the G chord, furthest left, is tuned to G minor (with a B flat). With the lever up, the B flat becomes B natural and the chord becomes G major). Similarly, D minor becomes B flat (but inverted = with a D bass)
@@guitarzither Hi Etienne, thanks for the reply and explanation. Were these levers to adjust pitch part of the original instrument, or did you add them yourself please ? I just bought a 6 chord Jubel Tone zither on ebay and am waiting for it to be delivered. I noticed that it does not have those levers so was curious.
You need to look online for a 2nd hand instrument: What you are looking for is a 5 or 6 chord (5 preferably) zither. Chords should have 4 strings each (not 7). Melody notes can be single or double (it makes no difference how you play it). The tuning pins should be reasonably shiny, not rusted. Look out for cracks in the wood. Strings should not be rusty. Avoid very old instruments. Please note that I use a different tuning to the original - if you want to play the pieces I play, you need to change the tuning which involves changing a few strings. For a new instrument, Try www.hopf-zithern.de If you need further information, please visit etiennedelavaulx.com.au Cheers. Etienne
Clever and artistic arrangements, masterfully played! Thank you for sharing your enchanting music! What kind of wood are your chord zithers made of? I read that the German inventor of the chord zither died in 1900. Would your instruments have been made during his lifetime, or are they more recent than that? Is all the beautiful art work on them original? I'm delighted to discover this charming sound!
Hello Katherine. No unfortunately, it is not written. However, I have a lot of pieces already written I could send you. Please contact me via my website etienndelavaulx.com.au Best regards Etienne

Comme tous les pays, la France eut ses bons moments, et ses moins bons. Sa culture mérite d'être préservée.
