Add me to the "been using CSP for years and never noticed the multi-layer eraser" club! I was familiar with everything else but I can already tell that alone is going to save my hiney sooo many times in the future.
This is the best overview I've seen. Most videos I find are 20+ minutes and are more or less "how to make your brush bigger or smaller :)" and then jumping to "I just did a 15 step piece where I don't explain how I got here"
I LOVE how it has an entire community that keeps making new tools and instrument to share with others, i found some brushes that are awesome, usefull and time saving
I'm a comics artist and use Vector Layers for all my inking. You can't Fill on a Vector Layer, but Reference Layers and "Area Scaling" help ease the minor inconvenience. ("Fill up to Vector Path" also helps immensely, especially when coloring.) Great video, Maddie! I'm sub'ing.
CSP is a beast if you want to dive into the sub tool details of everything, it can do everything you want when you know it inside out, which can take A LOT, but it's totally worth it. One can learn one small detail every day and incorporate it in their workflow, and do it for years
It also has a tooon of time-saving things for comic artists, since it was originally designed for them. The thing where you moved the vector lines by painting over them, was perfection
Symmetry ruler is great for doing front views for character turnarounds, making patterns etc. The perspective rulers are also really useful, but can be a bit complicated to set up the first couple of times.
Ive been using photoshop since elements back in the late 90's/early 2ks. But with the pandemic I was forced to find a less expensive program and after playing with a friends copy of csp, i fell in love with it.
Nothing bothers some artists in regards to fill tools more than when they still see other artists make art without filling in the white infilled areas like corners and the edges you mentioned
Check my recent videos, it's up already! And I believe clip studio has an iPad version, but it probably looks somewhat different than the UI I show on the PC version.
One CSP brush I’m pretty fond of is Real Wooden Pencil. As the name implies, it actually comes pretty close to the feel of sketching with a genuine pencil, especially if you’re like me and like to roll the side a bit for gradients.
god, i was JUST looking up on csp ask on how to get rid of the little white jagged lines when you use the fill tool. No one gave me a straight answer, thank you. this makes my life so much easier. I draw rather messily and i ALSO use a textured brush, same as you, so it was great to see that i dont have to painfully struggle to do flats. (because i am lazy).
I have had clip studio for years and already knew all of these tips, but I still watched the video because I always enjoy seeing more artists ditch the darkness that is PS and come into the shining glory of CSP. The program has never let me down and I doubt it ever will.
I stumbled across your videos by searching for clip studio help videos, and I must say... your videos are some of the best if not the best tutorial videos with your pronunciation of your words perfectly used for anyone to learn and catch on. And the substance of your videos are exactly what people need to learn and catch on. thank you so much, I hope you make 1M from TH-cam
The clipping layer is a perpetual mystery to me. I do hope this time the knowledge of how to use it will stick with me. Id that’s the only thing I get from this video, it’s time well spent and worth a like.
I should have learned that erase multiple layer thing before I merged all my layers into one because I don't want to switch from one layer to another......
OH MY GOD THANK YOU FOR ALL THESE INCREDIBLE TIPS! I'M HAVING A BLAST JUST BY HOW INTUITIVE EVERY ASPECT IT'S! One of the greatest digital artists could ever ask for and more. Thank you once again!

I've been using CSP basically ever since I started digital art around 5 years ago. At one time I wasn't able to use CSP and went to search for another drawing software. I never realised how useful CSP was until I had to switch programs. CSP has some insane features and it just keeps getting better.
Im thrilled by how this looks having tried others like you ,I need something thats going to be more flexible for backgrounds and this seems like itll work so thanks
I have been using Clip Studio Paint since it was still called Manga Studio. I Love This Program! And I also love that it is NOT required to have a monthly subscription for the program, AND there are free assets we can use from other CSP artists.
thank you for the video!! i am pleased to have learned something new. i always appreciate more intermediate to advanced feature videos because there are honestly too many beginner tutorials. i always feel talked down to in most ""intermediate to advanced"" videos that just talk about clipping masks and other basic features. i already have an understanding of the program which is why i clicked an 'advanced' tutorial. this video is refreshing!!!
i just recently found a way to have multiple refs! i dont know if you've got the answer or not but basically just make a new file and put all your reference there! then just drag the reference "tab" to a free space and it'll be like sub view

What a great video! I've learned a lot even if I already know CSP😂 I really love the watercolor brush that's just stunning, no software makes it so satisfying as CPS
I love that you can use the sub tool to show another piece of art you are working on, like a comic, so you can use it for making sure the colors are correct.
I love this! I've been using the software for a while and there's still stuff I didn't know like the bucket tool settings, thank you for this video! Also your voice is very sweet
Excellent run through some of the features, learnt a load of things, thanks for sharing. Gradient tool is always a favourite and the time-lapse feature which is super useful for tutorials etc
I'm so excited! Getting my Pro version tomorrow to start out, but definitely looking forward to upgrading to the EX version as I grow with this! Thank you for this video and the useful tips!
Madame, I recently bought CSP Pro Version 2.0 during its Summer Sale. Having spent so many years with an outdated software (Photoshop Cs5) because the price they charge for the monthly subscription feels like a scam and no longer able to use it due to a brand new computer (the old one was 12 years old sdfghjk), I had to find a new software to transition to, one with improved, updated tools to facilitate my life that could, at least, accept PSD + AI formats and provide me with a decent line stabilizer. The 'smoothing lines' options and the 'sharp lines' features are appealing as it is. Your videos have shown me this is the one I was looking for! Thank you very much for the tips. Into my favorites it goes. You earned a subscriber!
Clip Studio is my favorite program. I've been using it for my art for the last decade. And I still learned stuff... especially the paint bucket settings that I never used. Duh. And I have never used the subview. I just paste my reference into a layer. That is great! Such a dense program. The brushes are also wonderful and the ability to tweak them is incredible.
I still sometimes paste references into a new layer, especially if I need to look at more than one at once. It'd be nice to lay them all out in a spread in subview, buy it is what it is. 😅
@@madameberry can't you open a canvas as put it to the side like where you can slot things in? I don't use it so I'm not entirely sure how to do it but i used to a couple years ago.
I've been using it for a long time too! I remember playfully hating sai users because it was the other popular one with manga studio. Good days, though I love how clip has changed. I stopped using it for a bit and was surprised to go from manga studio to clip
One of my favourite tools in CSP, is the correction layer gradient. Its sooo much fun playing around with te gradients and I often find it a good way to change the colour of something in my piece. Thank you for making this video, I learned some new stuff!

I'm totally new at this, having bought CSP in order to create pixel art worlds, and now feel completely at home in the CSP environment. Of course, if you feel like making a pixel art tutorial, it would be most welcome. Many thanks for taking the time to make these videos. ;-)
Thank you Madame Berry, your video taught me things i wasn't aware of until now about clip studio paint. Also great work on explain the details in a short amount of time, usually tutorial or tip video's takes about 30 or more min.

I’ve been a traditional artist for a long time but I’m in my late 30s and I realized that I needed to switch to digital at some point. Although I’d heard Procreate was the easiest to learn on. I don’t use Apple products, so I bought a new Samsung pen tablet and a CSP subscription and their little tabmate thing. It’s cost me a pretty penny to invest in it all and I’ve been having the hardest time with being overwhelmed with all the tools in front of me. CSP was almost TOO functional for me. I got Ibis Paint just to practice on and try to learn how pen tablet sketching and line art and pen pressure works and some basics. Then I switched back over to CSP and while I’m still really struggling, i can now appreciate how incredible and professional CSP is and how much it’s capable of. Since switching to digital my art style has changed drastically because I’m able to now create things I couldn’t in traditional art without buying tons and tons of expensive materials and with CSP it’s all just… there. I'm new to CSP so this is a HUGE help. Thank you TH-cam recommendations and thank you for making this video!
Nothing bothers some artists in regards to fill tools more than when they still see other artists make art without filling in the white infilled areas like corners and the edges you mentioned
AI colorizing is also neat if you need to quickly color whole scene in the background
Ah, I completely forgot about that! I use it all the time to make color mockups for traditional paintings.
Is there a right way to use it? For me it normally doesn’t stick to the lines and ruins colors
It does the same for me. It's not perfect and it's not meant as the final coloring.
I didn't know about any of these tips for the sub tools I am glad I came across this. This is a game changer for my art.
