    Add me to the list of people that really, really needed this video! A friend used my Echo trimmer and when he returned it, it wouldn't feed. Apparently he took the head apart, and put the spool in upside down. I've had trouble ever since. Well, thanks to your video, my Echo trimmer is working perfectly once again. Thanks!!

      @@ericvincelette-xk1yo It should pull straight out. Could the trimmer line be holding it down? Pull the string out of their feed holes and remove the string completely, then try again. Some of these heads build up a lot of heat and will melt the parts together, so watch for that.

    The original head became worn after a few years, so bought a new Echo head that wouldn’t feed line. I was almost ready to buy another head until I discovered your video. After taking the head apart, I discovered the spool was originally installed upside down. Thank you for your video.

    Wow, this was so helpful. I was so frustrated with my echo, to the point where when I needed more line I would set it down and manually press and pull on line till it came out to my desired length. I can't believe it was such a simple mistake. Thank you!

    I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

    Brilliant brilliant.
    String got stuck in my Echo. When I removed the head it fell to the ground, I picked it up and installed it backwards not being aware there was a difference. After 15 min of installing sting and no feed I gave up and got a beer.
    3 days latter youtubed the issue and your video popped up.

    Hey this is a terrific piece of advice! You saved me a LOT of frustration I was having with my Echo SRM-230, which was not spitting out line. Following your instructions it now takes just a light bump on the ground to get the line to feed! --I put bright stickers on the outside of the line spool holder to tell which side is OUT and which side is IN so if I have to take it apart in the evening sometime (say it got wound up in wire or nylon string for example), I can put the device back together properly in the semi-dark twilight so it operates correctly! Thanks to you, Mr. Seahorse!

    I took the head apart and installed new line and think I put that part back on backwards.

    This video was a great help. Actually saying that placing the insert a certain way fits perfectly is kinda misleading because it fits perfectly either way. My STIHL turns the same direction as yours( didn’t know that until watching your video and scrubbing my guard to see arrow). Looking down from operator position it turns counterclockwise. That’s why placing the insert with the L (counterclockwise) is inserted looking down towards ground. Thanks for opening my eyes

    Good video! I've been fighting with my Stihl, changed to speed feed head and had same problems... so it must be related to the way I'm loading it. But, I'll check the rotation arrows next, you showed something that I've not seen in all other videos! Thanks!

      Good to know. I had a Stihl for two years. Some of these auto feeders do not work for Stihl. Hence I bought an Echo. Make sure yours fit. I am glad my video is helping everyone. Feel free to subscribe.

    Yes, I called Echo and asked them which way the bobbin should be installed for my PAS 230 and she said the letter "L" should be on top facing you when you put in the bobbin.

    • @kcaegis45
      @kcaegis45 ปีที่แล้ว

      PS. It all depends on the rotation of your weed eater. If the head rotates/spins counter clockwise when you look at weed eater with the guard on top then the bobbin/spool should read with the "L" on top when you put it into the head. If it rotates/spins clockwise then the bobbin/spool should read "R" on top when you put it into the head. ECHO SRM and PAS weed eaters' spin counter clockwise as most straight shaft do. And most curve shaft spin clock wise. Just remember if you have to turn counter clockwise to tighten the speed feeder to your weed eater then the "L" should face on top and if you have to turn clockwise to tighten then the "R" should face on top .

    Yeah, just got a new Speed Feed head from Echo. The one sold for the Echo GT series. And wouldn't you know it, the spool was in upside down. Luckily I watched your video (and others) before installing.

      Good to know. The assembly line workers might just randomly put them together or simply rely on the homeowners to read the instruction manual. Happy trimming. Feel free to subscribe if you have not. I love hearing my video is helping other homeowners.

      @@SeahorseWorkshop I did notice that the spool went on very tight in the correct orientation. The bump feed works, but grudgingly. I may have to disassemble and get it to loosen up a bit.

    Hey great video, I might add which way you turn it in the future.
    I use about 5 feet of line, load it - and then push/turn to the left until it's short.
    I'm having an issue where it's retracting line instead of dispensing it. My stepfather used it and turned it around I believe, and with your good video - I made sure the L is outward..... but I'm still having it retract line instead of feeding it?
    With the spool the correct way ( L = outwards) - does it matter which way you crank it to suck up string?

    • @Garuda1415
      @Garuda1415 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the spool is correct on the Speedfeed, you can only crank in one direction.

    I think I did the same thing. Whenever I bumped for more line it appeared to suck the line in instead of pushing more line out. Thanks.
