My family inherited a 98' camry from my cousin with 200k miles. Same story with mint cloth interior and headliner, along with deadly reliability. Great cars
My uncle Bill had a white one of these in the 90's and he would smash it into just about everything you can imagine but it lived FOREVER. We ended up finding out he had narcolepsy and that's how he was hitting everything, he fell asleep and smashed the Camry into the side of a San Diego trolley in Chula Vista and they took his license finally in 2006. He must have put 250k miles on that thing, the 4 cylinder was far better than the 6 in my opinion in terms of reliability
I have owned 2 Camry's of this generation. One of them twice! They did not rust up here in the Midwest because in Japan they there were still coated with 2 mil of paint plus the clear coat.
I had a 91 SV21 wagon with the same 2 litre. Except it was a 'badge engineered' Holden Apollo. It eventually rusted out at 270k miles (around 430k Kms). I loved that car, I had 4 other wrecks I used as my parts yard and did so much work on it. I'd rate it as one of my favourite cars I've owned.
@@graenicholls4657 Mine is a sedan with a bit of rust around the bottom corner of the back windows on both sides. I need to find a parts car as some parts are getting hard to find.
Here in Greece, CAMRY is a word unknown. Everything is a Corolla. I inherited my mother's 1998 Corolla with 45K miles (65K Kms) 4 years ago and now I am close to 70K. Real miles. The car drives like it is new. I plan to keep it forever, having a car that is below 100K miles, spare parts are cheaper than a cup of coffee, having NO car payments, cheap insurance (217 Euros per YEAR..... is CHEEEEAAAAAPPPP) and makes close to 40 to a gallon, (1.3l 4EFE engine) is a blessing. Electric, hybrids, cameras and gadgets. Thanks, I prefer a real car.
@@franktechmaniac7488 The third generation camry (xv10) was sold in Finland so not true. They probably sold them somewhere else in Europe as well. If you had said the EU, then sure, we joined in 1995. (And outside of Helsinki we are almost like budget US, lots of parking and if you live even a bit outside of urban centers you will need a car, though you can manage with a bike if you live in a residential area, and we have lots of pedestrian streets)
I inherited my mother's 1997 camry. Arizona car so no rust. Loved the 2.2L and 4 spd trans - so smooth and dependable. Just needed brakes and shocks. All was great until a deer ran out in front of it. Still driveable but it doesn't take much to total a 25 yo car. But replaced it with a 2011 honda cr-v which I think I like even more.
The next generation of these Toyota Camerys are everywhere in the area l live in Sydney Australia 4 cylinder V6s manual automatic and sedan and station wagons and in Australia we have the Toyota tax were Toyota's are more expensive than other cars and Toyota's and Lexuses will deprecate at a certain point and then start to appreciate were 26 year old Camerys were selling for aud $2000 to $3000 now are selling for aud $5000 to $6000 and that price jump is within 2 years and the same for my 1997 Toyota Hilux must a rear drive with the 22R engine flat top ute now 5 years ago l paid aud $1500 for it now if you can buy one sell for aud $5000 that is they are so reliable and Australians really like Toyota's because Toyota is the number one selling for the past 25 years and of course tgey are everywhere most numerous vehicles on Australian roads

Awwww Stella is still a wild wolf at heart and prefers sleeping outside!!! I really like stella. One of my top 3 favorite internet dogs 🐶
Some of the best cars ever built !
That car is the pinnacle of Toyota practicality. That alone makes it beautiful.

These are the cars that made Toyotas legendary !
this Camry is truly a tank. Just replace timing belt kit one per 100 KM. It will run forever.
One of the best cars ever made ! Funny how a 90s car is getting to the stage of being classic 😱
More reliable than an old Maytag appliance.
I daily drive a 1990 sv21 Camry with the 2 liter engine....it just keeps on going!!!

In 95, the LE came after the DX, which was the base model.

The Toyota Camry wasn't officially imported into Europe. It's bigger than the Corolla and was more or less developed for the US market.

Simply stated....This might the lamest, yet best car ever made! It drives so nice! It is not exciting, just comfortable and dependable!
Those are great cars.
We still see '90s and early 2000s Camrys and Corollas on the road literally every single day in the DC area, in 2024.
That paintwork is really improving.

Nice survivor, that Camry. What's not to like?
I live in a 2000 Sienna minivan

SAVE IT....
I bought my first car recently.... 2000 camry 2.2
Great car, worthy of some attention and a good polish, one Toyota's best. To the owner keep it. no payments and simple
May as well polish those yellow headlights while you're at it 😉
Yep. Done.
I have a 1997 toyota camry. The best. I wouldn't let that car go if u tried to pry it from my dead fingers
