    I'm not an expert, I'm just some person with a garden. Thanks for visiting the Freshcutky organic gardening channel. This channel focuses on my journey, as I work to build my own cut flower farm. In the garden, I will answer some of the most common "gardening for beginners" type questions I get, including growing flowers from seed. Growing greens and planting beautiful organic food is something I'm really passionate about. Thank you for joining me as I learn to grow flowers, vegetables, and more.

    Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

    I’ve had good success with these. Sow them like California poppies and they are amazingly hardy in spite of their delicate appearance.

    I have a 50 pound bag of organic Nigella seeds. I have no idea what to do with them all. Im thinking to toss seeds around between my landscape bushes in front and back yard and in few containers? Are they going to look like yours? Any suggestions?

      Nigella seeds that are used for spice and supplement? I don't think it'll look like this. Love-in-a-mist is Nigella damascena, the spice is N. sativa. Almost every vid I've seen show that their flowers are way smaller than damascena (looked around coz I ordered seeds for planting).

    Do you need to thin them if direct sowing? How far apart do you need to space them if transplanting? Thanks

    Very pretty dainty flower. Good for bouquets? Do they last well in a vase?

      Yes! I always put them in flower arrangements. The seed pods look really interesting too!

    Do you let the pods dry and brown on the plant before you cut them off to save the seeds?

    • @TONYAwiththeflowers
      @TONYAwiththeflowers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If I want to save seed, I definitely let the pods completely dry first - just to make sure that the seeds had enough time to mature. Thanks for watching! :)

    I cant find anywhere, the days to bloom for this plant! Do you know about how long ot takes from seed to flower?

  • @jappy6539
    @jappy6539 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Does it grow in a tropical country like the Philippines

    • @nunyabiznes33
      @nunyabiznes33 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope it does. I ordered some Nigella sativa seeds. If that grows then maybe Nigella damascena have a chance here.

    I thought that perennials come back every year and can withstand cold? I thought annuals need to be planted every year?
