Greetings! Thanks for stopping by, if you have any questions just leave em below. Merry Christmas 😄 will throw out a fleet update video around new years too 🤙🫶
I think a set of the teal homage tires from bluelug would look amazing on this after the pink GKs run out. The bike looks amazing, seriously, you really nailed it with that paint job, its fantastic. I'm SUPER hyped for the Nishiki alien and the Cannondale coming up.
That would be sweet! I know they’ll fit the front but might be tight in the rear 🤔 the light blue Gravelkings that are out at the moment should suit it, too. Thank you! So stoked with it 🫡 the Nishiki will be awesome too! Have most of the parts for it, should be out in the first couple weeks of ‘24 🤙
Woahhhhh. That tyre fading is crazy! I thought it was one of their butterscotch coloured tyres at first 😅 Love the bike dude. The colour scheme looks awesome and that headset looks perfect on it 🤓
Haha yeah way crazier than I thought would happen 😂 pretty sure they were in a bag for a lot of the time too! Cheers heaps Mark! Thanks again for the awesome headset, it’s found a good home 🫡🤙
Nice build the paint job came out mint looking forward to the next lots of builds. I have a 1998 GT Arrowhead that I fitted with a 27.5 wheel set fitted with 27.5 2.10 tyre's just working on the disc brake set up now.
Thank you! Ooh that’ll be awesome. Should ride great with the larger wheels under it. I tested some 27.5’s on that pinkish red GT Tempest and it clears so well!ha. The Avalanche will be 26 as I have some rims in mind for it already, but building custom wheels for that too 😎👌
This turned out fantastic - well done! I get oddly excited over self-extracting crank bolts / caps - such a statisfying addition. A old spoke bent into a 'fish' sort of shape makes for a really effective installation tool.
Saved this watch for Christmas Day. Thanks for all the hard work in doing this video. Very entertaining. Good to see you enjoying yourself. I’d never ride fixed wheel.
Great build! I really like those grips and saddle choice, they really look amazing. I have wide bars like that on one of my bikes and I absolutely love them. So comfortable!
Thank you! Yeah I was thinking of modifying them a bit, but was too impatient before the first ride 😆 the pedals fit the other straps well, so they might just hang onto those for now but we’ll see. If the pedals work well with straps then I’ll modify them to suit the squid I think 🤔
Nice one! I love mine sooo much, it rides so nice. Also, I find it works quite well with drops. And, as you said, nice on the trails and also nice on the roads.
Ooh I wondered how it would be with drops! I’ll try a dropbar setup on it then switch between the two I think 😁 they sure are! Really well-rounded bikes 👌 I was tossing up between this and a Steamroller but glad I chose this, happy as with it
You did an awesome job (very reminiscent of an early '90s color scheme).. on another note, I heard Smooth Move bars will help with constipation 😃 Thanks for the instructional video, Mr. Toasty Rider!
Merry Christmas 🎄 Can't wait to see your plans for the Giant Cadex. Such a neat colorway, very retro futuristic. It has the replaceable dropouts too, are you planning to change them out for some horizontal track style ones?
Yo! So stoked for that, had to grab it. Should be a nice tough klunker to rip around on 👍 should have an s&m Husky bar on it. Did you see Tim’s klunker race plan for February? See you there 🤙
I like the effect when people spray the bike in 4 or 5 different colours and then sand down in different areas so you get a rainbow 🌈 effect around the edges. I think you may have done it before. That's why I like this one so much. It's right up my street 😂🎅🎄what handlebars did you use on this build ✌🏽
That sounds awesome! I don’t think I’ve done that before, but like the rainbow idea 🌈 haha glad you like it! My favourite paint job I’ve done I think 😍 the bar is a Hunter Smooth Move 👌 similar to a Nitto ForShred, but with 15° backsweep
Hey sweet build m8! Where did you source the extended race ring from? I did a beach race recently and had a 52mm Shwalbe Big ben up front and a 45mm in the rear. Such a fun bike!
Hey, it’s just by Toopre/lebycycle called “star nut setting tool” it’s similar to the Park Tool TNS4 but smaller 👌 fits into my small storage drawer which is really handy
@@toastyrides thanks, you’re welcome! Got some pink tires in stock too…they will be part of a 26“ cruiser build on an simple bluemetallic citybike frame driven by 3-speed gearhub…maybe summer 2024☀️😎

I really love the paintjob.

Nice. It reminds me of my little sister's first bike. Good job
Thanks! That’s a rad first bike, awesome taste 👏 cheers! Merry Christmas 🤙
Looks great and you know you did good when you are all smiles while riding it!
Thank you! This is the detailed build video I needed.
Omfg i have been following squid bikes forever now!!!!!!!! So freaking cool!!
I’ve always wanted a SoEZ, loved the look of them for so long 😅 and the crazy paint jobs 🤯 so happy with it! 👌
Great build! I really like those grips and saddle choice, they really look amazing. I have wide bars like that on one of my bikes and I absolutely love them. So comfortable!
Love this build. With the pedal straps I had a similar issue with my raceface. I just drilled them out to accommodate the thicker straps.
Thank you! Yeah I was thinking of modifying them a bit, but was too impatient before the first ride 😆 the pedals fit the other straps well, so they might just hang onto those for now but we’ll see. If the pedals work well with straps then I’ll modify them to suit the squid I think 🤔
@@toastyrides nice either way it all came together really well and looks sick. Love the saddle and tyres. Fun build.

@@toastyrides happy as for you maate
Very cool. Great job.
Cheers mate! Thanks for stopping by 🤙 love the crazy colourway haha
Congratulations! Very good-looking build. I wonder if there is a frame set that would allow exactly the same build but with 2.3 tires?

looking forward to the state klunker build

Hope that 58 shows up. That would be bad ass.
Haha that’d be cool as, happy with the 56 though as it’s nimble as.

Do you have a tip or trick on how to align the hub logo with the valve hole?
what was that star nut tool?? I do it the socket way because I don't want the huge ramming tool from park...
Hey, it’s just by Toopre/lebycycle called “star nut setting tool” it’s similar to the Park Tool TNS4 but smaller 👌 fits into my small storage drawer which is really handy
Noooice.
Where did you source pink tyres in nz? Do you know where i can get some 700c pink tyres?
I had a semi when you were building it but got fully hard at the end
What bars
Needs mudguards and a front rack :-P
Yes please use a brake.
