L k Advaniji was rejected by the people of India in 2009 as the PM candidate. Modi worked as hard as he could in 2009 elections. After losing if Advani had realised that his time was gone and had gracefully agreed to the candidature of Modiji for PM in 2013 Goa convention he would have retained the respect of many. Instead he behaved like someone who was after the chair forgetting about ideology, party and the Indian people. Advaniji's character putting his self interest above everything was seriously exposed. The final ignominy was getting booed by the crowds in Delhi when he went to a kabaddi league match with no one wanting to listen to what he had to say. Sad indeed.

Advani ji wasnt supporting nuclear deal in 2009 because this has been the stand of BJP government since 1998. His trigger was the implementation of the Mandal commission by V P Singh. After 2002, when there was demands for the resignation of Modi, it was Advani who came to his rescue. The rest is history.

However, on this episode, I think Shekar's description of BJP's elder leader, L.K.Advani saying that L.K.Advani is a divider, is a myopic mischaracterization. Instead, L.K.Advani knew that India has a Hindu majority that is divided; and he knew that if this fragmented majority of Hindus are united, victory for the BJP is inevitable. Circumstances, especially in 2009 cheated Mr Advani of his opportunity to become a PM. Not being a mass leader didn’t matter to Manmohan SIngh to become the PM. Advani certainly better recognised by the voting public. I think the main reason for loss to BJP in 2009 was that BJP’s only agenda in 2009 was to abuse UPA, Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan SIngh. Unlike 2014, which offered Vikas agenda, BJP had no concrete program to offer to the voters. Generally Indian voters have rejected such abusive campaign. It happened in 1971 election, when the opposition parties merely wanted to force Indira Gandhi out, without offering anything concrete to the voter. BJP was also seen as an obstructionist party in the parliament, much like congress under Rahul Gandhi.

However can you give us some light on our present and future politics, So like who are true nationalist leaders amongst today’s politicians who can lead India into the future as we need India to be A tough nation but also a united nation that believes in peace and progress amongst itself and with all its neighbours. May be a new young Modi who is very much a believer of a united and progressive India in all fields of education, sports, business and industry etc etc.

L k Advaniji was rejected by the people of India in 2009 as the PM candidate. Modi worked as hard as he could in 2009 elections. After losing if Advani had realised that his time was gone and had gracefully agreed to the candidature of Modiji for PM in 2013 Goa convention he would have retained the respect of many. Instead he behaved like someone who was after the chair forgetting about ideology, party and the Indian people. Advaniji's character putting his self interest above everything was seriously exposed. The final ignominy was getting booed by the crowds in Delhi when he went to a kabaddi league match with no one wanting to listen to what he had to say. Sad indeed.

i think you should judge actions of people by what they knew at that time, i think the nuclear deal was shrouded in secrecy and i don' see any thing wrong in what advani did.

People like Shekhar Gupta cant understand why people who dream of & believe in Akhand Bhaarat take some decisions thinking about Akhand Bhaarat in mind. For example:
1. I believe that Advani ji wanted to become prime minister not out of personal desire, it was more out of representing India by somebody who was born in Sindh which is Mr. Advani himself.
2. Advani ji wasnt supporting nuclear deal in 2009 because this has been the stand of BJP government since 1998. So Shekhar Gupta is wrong that Advani ji out of the desperation to become prime minister in 2009 didnt want to support nuclear deal.
He is is a sindhi, never took up the cause of Hindus who are facing persecution and still come here. He himself came here during partition. He must know what it was like. All he did was created more decisiveness. How can you celebrate such a person
L K Advani is the opposite of what Nehru stood for. He is responsible for the kind of India that we have today. He is responsible for communalising the Indian polity. His trigger was the implementation of the Mandal commission by V P Singh. He interpreted it as vote bank politics and to counter it he gave a totally new complexion to Ayodhya by taking the rath Yatra and then in playing a crucial role in the demolition of babri masjid. After 2002, when there was demands for the resignation of Modi, it was Advani who came to his rescue. The rest is history.

I watched all the episodes of CUT THE CLUTTER. The views expressed by Shekar Gupta are well thought and most fair. However, on this episode, I think Shekar's description of BJP's elder leader, L.K.Advani saying that L.K.Advani is a divider, is a myopic mischaracterization.
Instead, L.K.Advani knew that India has a Hindu majority that is divided; and he knew that if this fragmented majority of Hindus are united, victory for the BJP is inevitable.
Therefore, Advani did not divide the nation to win, he set out on one course to unite the strayed flocks of Hindus and he succeeded.

Circumstances, especially in 2009 cheated Mr Advani of his opportunity to become a PM. Not being a mass leader didn’t matter to Manmohan SIngh to become the PM. Advani certainly better recognised by the voting public. I think the main reason for loss to BJP in 2009 was that BJP’s only agenda in 2009 was to abuse UPA, Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan SIngh. Unlike 2014, which offered Vikas agenda, BJP had no concrete program to offer to the voters. Generally Indian voters have rejected such abusive campaign. It happened in 1971 election, when the opposition parties merely wanted to force Indira Gandhi out, without offering anything concrete to the voter. BJP was also seen as an obstructionist party in the parliament, much like congress under Rahul Gandhi.

However can you give us some light on our present and future politics, So like who are true nationalist leaders amongst today’s politicians who can lead India into the future as we need India to be A tough nation but also a united nation that believes in peace and progress amongst itself and with all its neighbours. May be a new young Modi who is very much a believer of a united and progressive India in all fields of education, sports, business and industry etc etc.
