    Right on, brother. All of my symptoms align with those in your video and viewer comments. I'll be taking my apart tonight. Thanks!

    Just wanted to say *THANK YOU!!!* . I couldn't figure out why when I tried to start my engine it kept backfiring out the carb and exhaust. I adjusted the valves and cleaned the carb etc and knew something major was wrong, but pulling the cord seemed smooth etc. Really glad you posted this! Thanks again and thanks for the part number and link too! It's funny because the last time it ran it ran fine, but maybe stopping it under pressure of the water pump caused that gear tab to break off or something. Now I'm not so sure about the reliability of that engine. Bad on Honda!

    Thank you for sharing this issue. You’re a big help! I wondered why the timing is always jumping! Once again thank you very much:)

    Great video. I have to replace a bent crankshaft. My EXITSTING setup has a metal gear likely heatshrinked onto the shaft. However, the replacement that is now coming has a plastic gear just like in this video. Your video helped me to grasp what I am about to deal with. I think I'll heat the old metal one off the old shaft and heat it onto the new one to avoid the mess you've described here. Thanks for the video!

      Your Welcome! Honestly I cant believe Honda used a plastic one in the first place. Good luck!

      @@konventionalkar5158 FYI I just confirmed that I can swap the metal timing gear from my OEM shaft to the replacement. I'll upload a how-to video on my channel Pattywakt DIY on 6/13/21.

    So to confirm this condition before taking the engine apart... could you just remove the valve cover, hold the exposed cam gear and belt, and then try to rotate the crankshaft? If that lower crank gear pulley's key is stripped, you should be able to spin the crank without the held cam pulley turning, right? Let me know if my thinking is correct on this diagnosis step, and thanks. Jeff

      Possible yes. Been a long time, but think that is how I found this issue, camshaft could be moved easily if you grabbed it and moved it.

    Pretty sure this is my issue. Are there any gaskets or other associated parts i should buy along with the gear? Or is it all just RTV? I'd rather have them on hand before i tear it apart. If anyone knows for sure I'd appreciate it.

    • @konventionalkar5158
      @konventionalkar5158  ปีที่แล้ว

      The casing is RTV. Think try no removing the gonverner, if you do get an rpm reader to reset it. Think when I called the normal rpm is 3800

    Hi ,how do you take that gear out the shaft

    • @konventionalkar5158
      @konventionalkar5158  ปีที่แล้ว

      For this plastic one, it just lifts off with a firm pull. Could prob left off with a gentle pry bar.

    Is this engine non interference?

    • @konventionalkar5158
      @konventionalkar5158  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For this one is non interference, its went out of time more than once when the issue happened and still ran after every fix.
