      I love your sticker! It makes me smile every time I see it. :) The greyish-violet with the slight pearlescent is Sugilite - such a unique. and beautiful colour! I've been planning for months to make a sketchbook palette with the non-lightfast paints and had actually put a little tin aside and labelled it for this exact purpose - I just need to finish putting it together now! Great minds think alike. ;) The colours are too lovely not to use.

    I have lots of colours! I have been filling empty half and full pans and use multiple pallets. I have been enjoying spreading them out all around me and pre-wetting them. Mixing watercolour and gouache. I have also been pre-mixing custom mixes and primarily investing in tubes after pigment research erring on the side of lightfast and best for custom mixes.
    Since I have been doing this I've been easily and quickly painting more and more and I have looked at it and am up to triple the paintings in 1/3 the time! This Was double when I was at round half the pre prepared paints; but has moved up to triple more recently as I have so many pre prepared half pans! I have separate swatch cards (in order) that fit the shape for each pallet and additional notes on the colours/mixes and different tests and notes for many paper types (continuing to research the papers as I go forward; as things work differently on different papers!)
    I am continuing forward this way as I've already been enjoying painting WAY more and as I said I now have Triple the total output and I've been working 2-3 time faster as well!
    I've lately been experimenting with adding a touch of pure honey to some as well (I plan to re-pour a couple of the harder to re wet ones and add a touch of honey for example soon).
    Anyways another piece of advice I'll share is to buy various cheap make up brushes from the dollar store and use them with watercolours and gouache paints! (Also Acrylic paint...) They are amazing and allow special techniques that help you 1) blend softly 2) gradients 3) large areas of soft washes 4) use watercolours better on cheaper papers 5) use a mix of watercolours + gouache better!
    I think I need to make a TH-cam video about some of these things myself soon!
    I think some of my faves specifically are: Quinacridone (Red, coral and Rose), Pthalo blue, terquoise and green, DS Perylene Green, DS Aussie Red gold, DS Quinacridone Gold, Quinacridone burnt orange, M. Graham Anthraquinone Blue + Terra Rosa (seprately and mixed as a super deep 'vibrant' black, Senellier ultramarine deep, Van gogh: Carmine, rose, neutral tint, davy's grey and Azo yellow deep. I love all colours to one extent or another and change pallets (I don't use all colours in each painting!) often. I have least favorites yet have already even used all of them this year! More is more for me.
    Some of my other favs are custom pre made mixes I created after research in empty half pans using tube paint and/or hydrus.
    including my lightfast moonglow mix (dupe), mineral violet mix, shadow violet mix (1,2 +3), vibrant black, Lunar blue mix, prussian green, rose dore and cascade green.
    Some are to save buying too many expensive separate tubes (most) while some art to improve or 'original' inventions (not avialable in tubes. I have more than the examples here as well!
    Long comment over
    Fun video, thanks.

My favourite here is RS Shadow Violet - I find my Roman Szmal palettes are my go to studio choice (56 colours in all so don't feel you are alone in your obsession!). You would also love Przybzy's Grey and Shadow Grey, both stunning and unusual highly granulating colours :)

    A bit late to this video, but I own the cobalt green dark from Schmincke and that certainly was an eye opener for myself, it does so well in green mixes. I might need to get my hands on the forest blue as well. "Sodalite" looks beautiful from your palette and I'm certainly more drawn to the moody blues and greens on your palette.

    First thing: the color selection for your palette is gorgeous! Second thing: you’re too right about the “rules” of art and how freeing it is to break them. It’s really nice to hear it verbalized, and even better to see the proof in the form of how beautiful it can be (e.g. in this case, to have a palette that is a “rule-breaker.”). And do you know what? You have inspired me to give my own palette a little shake-up. I currently have 2 separate ones (granulating and non-granulating), but there are colors on there I never use. I think I’m going to steal a move from your book and make a palette only of colors I absolutely love! Thank your for the inspiration!

    Omgosh, what was that “I love big palettes and I cannot lie?” Or “I’m putting myself on a watercolor BAN!!” What I loved most was listening to you literally smile through the whole video of swatching your colors!! I’m working on building my Robax pallet… it’s “One
    Pallet to rule them all.” (Cheesy movie quote) but it’s true. It’s 85 wells of spinning dreamy colors. And I’m tortured by having to narrow it down to just 85!! I have all different brands and even a few that are in your pallet (szmal). I also have themed palettes with Qor, cobalts, fav mixed pigments, etc, but alas all 85 colors for Robax will be single pigment translucent. I noticed that you really love opaque pigments and how clear your painting style shows with your palette. It was so fun listening to you whilst working on my own. I truly enjoy hearing artist’ choices for the colors they pick, especially when you can tell it’s uniquely their OWN!! I absolutely loved this, even though it’s very different from my own. That’s what makes art so amazing, 🤩 total opposites can appreciate each other as there’s no wrong or right.
    Ohh, have you tried szmal Ocean Blue? It’s a very moody, deep blue green. Deeper than another fav of mine aqua green by W&N. They remind me of the deepest darkest bits of the ocean 🌊

    I think mixing colours between brands is a good practice because there are certain hues and pigment composition found in just certain brands that appeals to me the most. My own custom palette is a mix of qor, sennelier, white nights and daniel smith and I feel like they go really well together.

    Wonderful swatching video! I find watching you swatch, unwrap art hauls or highlight areas you have visited are all so soothing to me. Thank you for your very conversational videos. Love your new palette. You have shown me quite a few new paints that I am rushing to add to my wish list. Three colors I love are from Cheap Joes in the US- Pat’s Coastal Blue (a beautiful soft blue/grey/green), Blue Stone (a lovely medium bluish grey ) and June Bug (a darker very pretty greenish blue). I like big palettes & I can not lie! Thank you.

    I like big palettes and I cannot lie... I am rather addicted to Opera Rose (I have 5 of them) but they don't seem like a Natasha colour and are also notoriously fugitive. I learnt recently that with some fiddling you can scoop out the paint from a Roman Szmal full pan and decant into a half pan. I now have more room for additional colours...I guess Jackson's will be delighted with that discovery as the first thing I did on completion was double my Roman Szmal collection! Every week I say...no new watercolours and then accidentally I appear to acquire more!

    Dear Natasha, I do believe you are proud of this AMAZING palette 💜 Just looking at the swatches you made has inspired me so much to take out my paints again. Thank you very much!
    And ..."I love big palettes and I cannot lie" (I absolutely do, I mean, why can't we have like two more hands to paint with so many beautiful colors?😂)
    I do not have a "main palette", I'd rather keep all my watercolors organized by color family in dedicated palettes. But honestly I am reconsidering this system because I can see how useful is a main selection, in order to get to know your favourite paints.
    My fav picks by your pebbles swatch chart are Tundra Pink, Lunar Red Rock and Schmincke's new released Ocean Gray. Thank you for sharing with us, I love the chatting-type videos😊
    I would like to recommend you some colors I really love, I hope you will find some interesting ones among these💜:
    •perylene maroon (I have Mijello, but I know W&N and DS make it for sure);
    •quinacridone burnt orange;
    •mahogany brown and spinell brown(both Schmincke);
    •"magnesium brown" (by W&N, the same pigment as DS "Lunar Earth");
    •"Sennelier's gray" and warm gray (kinda like a buff titanium but slightly more intense), both by Sennelier ;
    •Naphtamide maroon (DS);
    •phtalo turquoise (Maimeri Blu, the single pigment version with PB16)
    •nickel azo yellow (PY150 by any brand), one of my absolute favourite colours.
    And I have to end it here because I could just go on and on! Lol
    Love 💜

    I’m so thankful to you Natasha you make me discover so many beautiful watercolors!! I discovered Daniel Smith with you and since then I have 2 full 24 pans palettes full and a 3rd on the way! (Lol that almost sounded like I’m expecting, which I am not!).
    Girl I can live without many colors but let’s see if I can name a few, all from Daniel Smith for now I will branch out further down the line when I am fully satisfied with my collection :
    1. Lemon 🍋 Yellow ( I paint a lot of flowers and anything summery has to have this bright yet soft and transparent yellow!)
    2. Quinacridone Rose : same thing for Sakura blossoms this is ideal light and transparent
    3. Wisteria and lavender: blue Hydrangeas are my favorite flower so these 2 are a match made in heaven to paint them !
    4. French Ultramarine Blue just my favorite color can’t live without it!
    5. Indigo love painting trees with it in winter ❄️
    6. Green gold for greenery highlights
    7. Sap green and Perylene blue for foliage
    8. Lunar blue because it’s so moody and cool yet light, does it make sense ?
    9. Moonglow, Jayne’s grey and Payne’s blue grey
    Tried to keep it short but hey you did ask 🥰
    Take care !

    Good to see you swatching the dusky pink alongside some of the others you have - I'm waiting to open mine as I'm currently working mainly in oil pastel and/or pencil.

    Absolutely in love with this palette - all these smokey bluegreens! I admit I'm most tempted by the pthalo turquoise - I've been doing more mixes with a cobalt turquoise and the pthalo looks like I could get more saturated results with it. My go-to paint that i canNOT resist in any landscape is the Daniel Smith Green Apatite Genuine - it granulates into warm and cool greens and adds so much texture and variety in mixes, I tried to quit it and I just can't. And I definitely like big palettes and I cannot lie!

My must-have colors are (Daniel Smith) ultramarine, burnt umber, Azo yellow, and Permanent Red. DS Sodalite is an amazing colour, and I'm loving the Roman Szmal paints! I have had to exercise such restraint when it comes to the Schmincke super granulating colours - they're gorgeous and I'd love them all but I've limited myself to just a few!

    I like big 🎨 and I cannot lie. My favorite colors are the greens towards the bottom. My favorite color in my palette is serpentine genuine- the burgundy that appears when you dilute it is stinking with the green. P.S. it’s never,ever an issue to stick with you all the way through. I adore your videos😘

    I am a massive fan of Roman Smalsz watercolour after having discovered them recently and have the colours you have in your palette. I have found some DS paints that I NEED from this swatching! And I love big palettes- I haven’t learnt the fine art of reducing paints to one palette so I have two big ones out while I paint!

    I love the entire bottom half of the palette, from where the blue starts. I just got a Mijello 72 Double Decker Palette, and let me tell you it contains more than 72 colours 🙈 - so I certainly like big palettes and I cannot lie. 😂 I cannot recommend the White Nights Indigo highly enough, also their Payne's Grey and Perylene Violet, as they are wonderful and textured. And handmade paints by Julia K Art studio that I feel like I must have recommended before are Disa, Darcy, Elisabeth and Aster (a deep magenta that granulates slightly). I just can't in good conscience Not pester you about trying those! Other gorgeous ones are Polyjuice, Hell, Oden and probably several more that I just can't think of at the moment.
    Daniel Smith Monte Amiata Natural Sienna is amazing as a replacement for yellow ochre as it's luminous, transparent, slightly granulating and makes gorgeous mixes! Perhaps the White Nights Naples Orange might be something as well, it's a soft, earthy, granulating orange.
    I feel like I'm forgetting a ton of colours now, but it's not like this is the last chance to recommend paint! 😁

Thank you for introducing me to handmade watercolor paints - I didn't even know such a thing existed! I love all your colors so I can't pick one. This new reconfigured main palette is indeed and thing of beauty as is the swatch card. You realy do have a gift for choosing colours abd creating your palettes,so much thought and insight goes into them,it's like you've created your own curated palette. Happy to see a colour from Beyond Indigo (ilovetheir paints to) made it ino these colours. It's great for your creative well being to have a palette of colours that makes you happy each time you open it up to use it,brcause it's more inspiring and motivating and also enhances your colour mixing skills too. I didsn't know "Buff Titanium" was a colur untill your videos but it's one hat I love too now and it is a great mixing colour. I think it's good o mic different makes of paint. My main handmade watercolour palette is a mix of all the sellers on etsy and other sites that make the handmade colours I now use. It's so nice to hear why you chose tghese colours and how you you'll use them in your work and how they are also helpimg you be more bold in you paintings.
    It's good to swatch in a more fun and organic looking way too. The indain paints yoy spoke of for another video would these be from "Blue Pine Arts" maybe and the lovely Trupti, I have a lot of their colours too,thy are so rich and so highly pigmented. These videos are a great look behind your studio scene so to speak and I love that you share that with us.But it's also inspiring for us to look at changing our colour palettes and I do change my palettes in all the mediums I work with. I love the Betty Hayways brushes too,they hold so much water/pigment but also come to a grat point for details but also are great for laying down large washes too and are actually really durable and lovely to hold as you paint. Good to hae how much of a differece the Flexi spot tand and soit desk is making for you as wel,again a great investment in your creative well being (as it has benen in mine,thanks to your recomndation). This was such a great video to watch and listen to. (matt).
    P.S I like Big Palettes and I cannot lie!! Naples yellow is a colour I couldn't live out as it is and as a mixing colour,from your new palette I love the Green gold colour. Another colour I love is "terre verte" from Good Honey,this is a great dark mixing green I use a lot.

    I would love more watercolour mixing videos. I find watercolour mixing so meditative and relaxing and do a lot of it if I feel overwhelmed or anxious. It's so magical to find surprising new colours. Some oranges and ultramarine can make a beautiful muted purple, and green gold and quin rose make beautiful peach pinks.

    I like big palettes and I cannot lie! Haha! I love the anthra blue (not even going to attempt to spell it here), pthalo turquoise and the teal one! I used to love shell pink or pastel pinks in general but my scanner couldn't pick it up properly so decided not to use them now. The granulating colors look so pretty too! I don't have a lot of watercolor brands but I have this marine blue from Holbein that I find I don't use often but it stays on my palette because I love it.

    🤣🤣 I like big palettes and I cannot lie ! These are my all time favourite kind of videos ( and mixing videos ) , I’m just redoing my palette so this was timely and I think you’re so right , put in your palette what you love ! I’ve come to the conclusion that I adore dusty , muted tones and the brights that I do use need to be in a separate smaller palette . I think sodalite is a colour I wouldn’t want to be without and Daniel Smiths shadow violet has become a real favourite, Aquarius green ( bit like undersea green but better separation) is a great one too . I adored your bottom couple of rows , I loved the misty morning and tundra pink …….. so beautiful. Thanks for a brilliant video , I shall no doubt watch it more than once 🙈🤣❤️

    I like big palettes and I cannot lie!!! I really do!! Most favorites are the granulating blues. They look so dimensional especially the teal colored one (don’t remember the name). The favorite color on my palette is the genuine quinacridone gold from DS. I hoarded tubes of the real one because they told me they were running out of the quin pigment. Yep, I’m a little bit nuts like that🤪.

    I like big palettes and I cannot lie! Very lovely colours indeed. My favourite are the phthalo turquoise, Ocean Grey, Green Gold, Tundra Pink and Mineral Violet. I love Roman Szmal watercolours, they’re very affordable and have an incredible variety. I assembled a big palette only with my RS collection myself. If I may entice you to other colours from their range, Aquarius Green and Ocean are separating with tones similar to your palette. I also love mummy red and goethite. The colours I couldn’t be without: Indanthrene Blue, Olive Green, Quinacridone Red, Phthalo Turquoise, Turquoise Green, Cobalt green (Sennelier), Cobalt Turquoise, Transparent Orange, Transparent Yellow, Rutile Yellow (Schmincke), Gold Ochre and Green Gold (W&N), Green Gold and Pyrrole Scarlet(Daniel Smith), Titian red, Mint (White Nights).
