Just saw him in Trovatore here in Houston. His voice is still lovely but the top is no longer there. He now styles himself a 'baritenor". When was this performance? Thank you Lohengrin for this lovely video.
It seems it depends on what role he's taken on, and subsequently what "mode" he puts his voice in. I've heard him still sing great high notes recently. But if he's in dramatic/baritenor mode yeah, the top is not quite the same. It's wild to me how he can manipulate his technique to present as many different voices essentially.
@@JackieLanceTenor As Maria said when she was asked by Bing to interchange Lady Macbeth with Lucia in the Met within one week alternating the two roles (he wanted to repeat her previous legendary achievement of alternating Brunhilde with the Puritani Elvira): My voice isn't an elevator!!!! this comment I heard from the mouth of another phenomenal Hybrid Voice Ewa Podles!!! It is excruciating to do what Maria did in her early youth, in one evening sing Lakme, Lucia, Lady M and Abigaile... and frankly whats the benefit of abusing your chords like that?
Finally, a tenor who can sing this without losing beauty of tone!
With ease, no pushing, no falsetto.. A Full healthy round clean voice!
MARVELOUS MICHAEL SPYRES!!!!
I’ve not been this excited since Bruce Ford! I can’t wait to hear his continued refinement. Bravo!
What a voice!!!!!!!❤
Love him... he also is Divo, like R Blake
Best trills i have ever heard from a tenor.
indeed! real trills omg from a male voice
Bravissimo
Η φωνή τού βαρυτενόρου πάντα κατάλληλη για Μότσατ, Ροσίνι κλπ. Και ο Michael Spyres είναι ιδιαίτερα καλός.
Ευχαριστώ, φίλε μου.
Lohengrin, I don't know this opera, just a few of the arias, but that was Patricia Petibon... Wouldn't there be a duet, perchance?
😉😉
Yes I will post that duet it is one of Mozarts best

Actually he started as a baritone and worked hard to become a tenor, a marvellous one!
