you have heard Ford live? how was his voice? I mean in terms of volume which is smth we really cannot appreciate in official miced performances as opposed to piratic bootleg recordings which reflect the real volume of the voice
@@LohengrinO I heard Ford live in Amsterdam, as Mitridate and as Ermione. I have heard Spyres too on quite a few occasions. Bruce Ford was on the top of his game in said years: I have never heard nor seen a better acting and performing tenor, as far as bel canto technique and beauty of timbre. Ford was able to fill the hall and project his voice with apparent ease, not because it struck me as hugely voluminous but because of its natural high setting and squillo. He sang this role with an eerie metallike sound, perfectly in character, always with a golden glow. The sad and only reason Ford has not remained famous IMO is because he got ill, and had to take a step back. Wonderful singer! Nice man too (like Spyres).

Excellent choice as always! Lawrence Brownlee actually sang Mitridate here in boston a few months ago and i missed it :/ hope to catch him next time
