Anyone ever heard of the "Dukedog"s? The last surviving engine of that class, The Earl of Barkley, is at the Bluebell Railway! They are called Dukedogs thanks to the GWR mixing the 'Duke' and 'Bulldog' classes together. Coincidentally, Duke (the narrow gauge engine) is also a bulldog!
SodorTrain1225 this is brilliant! Thank you for telling me about this. It would be great to work this in somehow. Maybe when Duck meets Duke the lost engine, he’ll still have some GWR lore To spare!
Absolutely reeks of the Enterprising take on a familiar, but somewhat unloved RWS story. Love how you added the beginning and ending scenes. It feels so much more complete. And of course that clever little bit with Thomas to tie into the TV series cannon.
Lost for words at how beautiful this is man! You epitomise the best of bringing the RWS to a modern audience, merging the old and new and brimming with life and wit. The Rev would be so proud!
I would have to say that the best models in this are of Talyllyn and Dolgoch. However I am now craving to make my own custom GWR 3700 Class "Cities," 6000 Class "Kings" and the 3252 Class "Dukes." Probably one of your best adaptions yet!!!!
5:54 might be one of the most beautiful shots I have ever seen in any TWR TH-cam Production. So subtle, so mundane, but amazing, a separation mid puff!
This was absolutely lovely. Such a nice expansion on the original story. It ties all the aspects of the Reverend’s Skarloey Railway stories together in an excellent little finale! Not to mention stunning visuals as always!
Your ability to recreate and adapt the railway series stories in a way that gives the same vibe as the classic series episodes of our childhood but with your signature Enterprising Engines twist to allow your series to feel in perfect continuity with the books and classic series is fantastic. Skarloey and Rheneas have been some of my favorite characters in your series (besides the human characters, mainly the Thin Controller and his friends, Sir Frederick Aura and Walter Richards), so it's always nice to see them and their fellow narrow gauge companions as the front runners for your videos. I enjoyed them particularly in the books, but I remember not liking the post classic series angle the show took with the characters, mainly making the wiser and older engines like Skarloey act fearful, childish and prone to trouble (and not the lamp conspiracy theory kinds of trouble, which we love), but that was the point in my childhood where I stopped watching the show. Since coming across your series a few years ago, I've loved how you've given a new sense of life to these characters, especially the narrow gauge characters, while combining the source material with your own lore. I remember you saying something a while ago about how you have big plans for Skarloey and Rheneas in the upcoming season 2 finale episodes which is why they haven't been featured as much in season 3 (to keep away any potential spoilers related to their stories). Great work as always, and very excited for what's to come!!
So after watching this episode, doing the math, & looking up Skarloey & Rheneas' building dates, this episode takes place in 1964. & BTW, Wonderful episode!
This was absolutely brilliant! Fabulous camerawork as ever Matt and very funny too. Clever how you explained how Thomas discovered the story of Duke the Lost Engine too - nice touch! More please :D
I can tell the care and charm put into project was immensely given. Enterprising, this is why it was your destiny to become one of the most respected and loved content creators for Thomas and Friends. The future looks bright for you.
What else can I say that this was another fantastic video. Always love how you take unfamiliar or somewhat underrated RWS stories and adapt them and turn them into something as wholesome as this with the Enterprising Engines spin on them. The quality is nothing short of stellar. The shots and set pieces of the narrow gauge railway in your recent stories have been absolutely awe inspiring. Really love the great job on the custom engines in this one too! I am truly honored for your work on Season 0 as you have been able to achieve and adapt and write stories which is something that the writing team for the show has not been able to do in recent years due to the overall change in direction. I can truly say with 100% confidence that a Mid Sodor Spin Off made by you featured on Disney+ would be a definite watch for me. Lots of love from here in Canada - Gabriel :)
Awesome video Matt, I'm currently in devon, england on holiday for two weeks. Always a dedicated fan of your channel mate and looking forward to maybe doing more lines for you for future videos. Best wishes. 🇬🇧👍😊🇺🇸
Another amazing job Matt this was a really awesome story and I love how you added on in the beginning just hope Peter Sam and Sir Handel do find their Duke one day. Keep up the good work
I know somebody else already mentioned it probably, but the bit where the coaches tip over (from the chassis taking a tight turn no doubt) and the commentary from Rusty is just perfect. I really like that detail
Spectacular episode as always Matt! You and your colleagues delivered an amazing adaptation. The additions to the story were classically EE93 and brilliant all the same. Tbh I haven't been this hype about something Thomas related in a while. My mouth opened with that scene of Thomas seriously. Absolutely phenomenal overall. Cheers!
“Smile and roll lady’s smile and roll” I get that’s a nice reference if you don’t know what it is referring to it’s a line from I think Madagascar 1 or 2 the line is “smile and wave Boys smile and wave”
Such a fun episode with awesome cinematography and music, and the ending is a bit sad because we see how much Sir Handel and Peter Sam miss Duke. But still, I can’t wait for the next episode
Is it just me or does it seem like the bit at 6:51 was unscripted? If so, that was some brilliant improvisation. Getting Peter Sam to go the right way without derailing must have been insanely difficult. Love the episode by the way. It reminds me of how they adapted the three small railway engine stories for the TV series.
Please make a video telling your fans about the petition to cancel the reboot only needs 100 signatures and is on Change.org and I think that if the whole community joins we can achieve something.
I always write this from Peter Sam's POV and him being *much* more upset than is shown in the book because Duck pretty much implied his mentor is "dead", and then Sir Handel rushing off to try and offer him comfort. Never before have I seen this from Duck's POV at the beginning and end and how it built up to him being all downcast when he's talking to Peter Sam and then apologising. Oh, and in my version, Sir Handel and Peter Sam have a bit of a grudge against Duck for giving them that information, and it's not cleared up until the four year time gap when Duke is found later.
@@Enterprisingengine93 Thanks. Sir Handel and Peter Sam's relationship always fascinated me, they are so different yet they are connected via Duke and their history on the Mid Sodor Line. Whenever the two think about those events, they go from being total opposites to essentially thinking as one.
Hey guys, we just need your help. I guess that you know already about the Thomas and Friends reboot. The fans of the older series are trying to stop this reboot. Mattel won't listen to us fans, but it might listen to bad publicity. So, we just want you guys to spread this hashtag on social media to at least make Mattel think about their plan with the reboot. Very interesting I really like to be getting that duck is talking about the Great Western Railway even though Duck's real name is Montague and I think I really like Duck as a character because he always does things the Great Western Way
