@@DOTD7382 Nope. Stopped making locos in 1956 with the three experimental RP-210 passenger engines for the New Haven (NH) and New York Central (NYC). The company closed for good as Baldwin Lima Hamilton in 1972.

They made their diesels like their steam where no 2 engines were alike making it difficult to maintain them. The diesels also had many flaws including the massive "Centipedes" they just couldn't compete against EMD, GE, or even ALCO who hung on for a long time. The shop building can sadly be no longer found as the shop was demolished years ago
Really nice story/video. I remember that there were rumours saying that Stanley/Smudger got relocated to Boulder Quarry and got destroyed by Boulder. But now this makes more sense than that rumour I heard because what happened after the mines shut down after Stanley/Smudger broke down is basically covered up as no known proof in post-Railway Series.
You know, with how often you reference events from the TV Series, its easy for me to forget that this is primarily based in The Railway Series timeline. This episode helps to reinforce that.

Sean Sheehan No, Smudger is budget Stanley because why would they need to spend so much money on a making a model for one episode? They are the same character and your idea just makes no sense. Smudger is not part of my series, plain and simple. He only exists in my universe as a made for TV character meaning he was just made up.
I saw a picture on your DA gallery regarding Sir Handel and Peter Sam, then with no names and grey liveries. Are you planning on making their pasts on the Peel Godred works too? I did a story just like that years ago, liveries, no names, the whole package. It's me, TobyandMavisForever.

A good story, but in 1917 Stanley would have still been with the US Army Transportation Corps on the Western Front.

Fairly certain he could have been sold off as army surplus in 1917 that is when WWI ended in terms of conflict
