Desperately sad to hear that Tony has passed away..such a very funny, talented lad..I have some great memories of his wit and hilarious antics..I will never forget you Tony, and neither will millions..God bless you 😢
A absolute tragedy. The man should be a national treasure. No one speaks like this anymore, with such clarity of expression. I only hope people with bipolar can expect a better outcome today.
Like many illnesses it can be a long road, average diagnosis time approx 12 years,(In my case it was 23).Approximately 30% of people with depression are un diagnosed bipolar.I am fine,on the correct medication( mood stabiliser).Unfortunately Tony may have has the worst variant of the illness, which definitely would have made things worse by self medicating.great comedian, loved whose line is it anyway especially. He is at peace now, suffering no more.
He described it perfectly. I never saw him talking about his illness till today and often wondered where he had gone . I missed him a long time ago, he was brilliant. Bye matey.❤
Tony -you were, are, and always will be one of the very few people who make me sit up and take notice whenever I see you on some sort of media. You always make me smile whether you're being serious or funny and that's what makes you a true entertainer. I'm aware of gushing this all sounds, but I'm glad that you have touched my life. It's amazing that I think of you in the same way as I did 20 years ago. Seriously- thank you!
I was watching 'Richard Herring's Leicester square podcast' The other day and he mentioned he was going to try and get Tony on the show..I hope he does,he would be a fantastic guest..I hope Tony is well on the road to recovery now..he's a great guy!
Now I feel terribly guilty for forgetting Tony's short contribution to Stephen Fry's documentary about Bipolar dissorder. It all makes so much more sense now , even though his passing is still so senseless and sad.
Tony you have captured many hearts, in the 90’s I would rush home on a Friday night only to watch you- you were a bright beautiful soul . Wishing you all the love & luck in the world ❤
Tony has been and always will be such a huge inspiration to me. He is my favorite all time comedian and I have suffered through some of what he has dealt with and he came out the other side and now so have I ! Thank You Tony for your talent and your strength!
Rip. A huge talent, gorgeous, funny, a genius, kind, charming, down to earth and a top sportsman at Gunnersbury in his day. He had it all; demons too. At peace now. Amen xxx
Tony, you were a golden moment in UK comedy culture. I know things were difficult. The sad truth is that you overcoming your demons and were organising a comeback. Then this happens.... Rest easy, fine man. You are loved and will be remembered...xx
Met him on a train from Paris to London, He had just done an audition for a part in some big movie but he didnt get the part. He was coked up really bad.
That video of him a year ago with Philip an Holly was great to see as he looked so much better than he did in the documentary "what's wrong with Tony" or somthing, anyway was great to see as alcohol is so destructive an people don't realise how it ruins your body, looked like a different man 👍
It was a programme about bipolar & ended with Stephen saying "theres a button , press it & it all goes away" Nearly all celebs wouldnt press it cause it made them who they are. this poor woman with a sweetie jar of pills had no qualms about pressing it.
Yes I watched that at the time.I am a bipolar survivor, could of gone any way but luckily i was diagnosed correctly and put on the correct medication.68 now so not a bad run....
Tony articulates this perfectly.
Rip wonderful fella

This interview was the first thing I thought of when I heard of his passing. I hope he ultimately found some kind of peace.

Sad to see wonderful people, in terrible pain.
Sorry to hear of Tony's passing. I too suffer from bipolar so I know how he suffered. RIP tony❤❤
Tony Slattery...he is probably my all time favourite TV personality/actor/comedian! Love to watch him in anything he does :)
Mari Buckley Why?
he’s not a ‘favourite comedian etc’ type, I don’t know where you got this from.

God bless Tony.
He was in great form on richard herring's podcast very recently. Still incredibly eloquent and sharp and soooo funny.
So Herring was the last person to see him alive...
Met him on a train from Paris to London, He had just done an audition for a part in some big movie but he didnt get the part. He was coked up really bad.
RIP Tony.
He's not changed since Whose Line!! God I love that man!
oh, he's changed...this interview was at least 15 years ago
Get well soonest Tony
He still looks like himself here.

He would have been amazing as the Doctor his test was wonderful
Poor man must have been wrecked with angst & internal demons. I never found him funny but I recognised his talent.
RIP.
Fascinating.
R.I.P
Wow he aged a lot since this
Hope your ok Mark❤
Alcohol really ruins your decision making Given all the money he made he doesn't even now own his own property Very sad
He stated he lost it all before alcohol due to bipolar disorder. You can lose far more than property, believe me.
Go there tony honesty gets you far u lovely man x just about recognise u without the beard x
TBH he does look better clean shaven
What year is this from?
Travel well Tony x
Jungle you obviously don't understand bipolar AT ALL!
He COMPLETELY destroyed his voice, with drug and drink!!!!
He's sounding much better now
@@evo5dave that’s nice to hear. I’m a big fan of his.
So sad.
He was a working class boy who rose very quickly, maybe too quickly and lost his way.
His bi polar would have happened whatever success or not
He was sexually abused by a priest when he was 8
I am fairly convinced that excessive wheat consumption may be a large contributor to many of these problems of mind
And that's why you're not a scientist.
@@timstone5168or someone with a mental illness! Ignorance must be bliss, eh.
Blah blah blah😊
RIP Tony.
