"It's so dark." Is inappropriate especially in the Geriatric community. The nurse did a great job redirecting that comment.

I'm so proud to be taught by Dr. Fulmer at my undergraduate program, while she was a director of a nursing program at NYU. I have taken a seminar on death and dying with her and she was inspiring, thought provoking and so nurturing. People like Dr Fulmer make nursing a better field for young nurses.

This video made me cry because I've always wanted our elder care to include these essential assessments but to also include the patient as a person with unique needs that we can specifically address in our nursing approach. It is compassionate and caring as well as thorough and preventive. Thank you for this video!

I teach practical nursing students and I am planning to use this in our Dementia unit, however, from now on, I will use it in the first semester and make sure the dignity and respect are awarded and show these "just out of highschool" students what it means to care for geriatric clientele. Love this! Thank you so much!

Please use this with all your nursing students, I was not a "just out of high school nursing student" but became a nurse (LPN) as a second career, then bridged to RN, and I'm currently in a BSN program. I know about Gericare as I am proudly a Geriactric nurse with a certification from CMS

Ok but everyone is just going to overlook the part where the male states "its so dark"

Thank you! I am doing an assignment and I have had to rewatch this a few times and this part bothers me SO much.
Instead of saying "it's so dark".... how about "how can you determine a pressure ulcer in darker skin pigment." Like really??

@@shain444 Totally agree! I watched this a few weeks back and also watching now for an assignment and that part really ticks me off. Very insensitive comment

Very valuable information regarding the care of our geriatric population. This gave me so much more insight as to how to better care for them with less invasive procedures and practices.

I wish they were sitting while talking with Ruth. I think that would have been a more personable approach.
