I switched to a Fatboy in 22 and haven't regretted a single moment of it. It is THE Harley ride I expected when I got into riding Harleys. Power. Performance and Presence. A few customizations (new exhaust, saddleman seat, etc) and I can't imagine riding any other Harley for my main ride.
I’ve got a 22 fatboy and consider myself a novice rider.. I was worried about all the videos of people saying how hard they are to corner etc… I’ve never had any issues, beautiful bike to ride and handles very well
Ive owned stock harleys, big tire choppers etc. My 2023 fatboy is no doubt my favorite harley i have owned. Now in my 60s it just takes some skill to put it through the twistys not for the novice unless your not afraid to get up on the edge of that 240 and stay there.
I'm glad to hear that the Fat Boy was maneuverable at slow speeds. I could also see that the bike looks planted on the roads which is a plus in windy conditions! I'll need to test one at the dealership. It wasn't under my radar until I saw your video.
I own a Fatboy with solid wheels. The notion that a cross wind will push you across the road is erroneous. Those slots in the new FatBoy does absolutely nothing. Consider the fact that the wheels are turning hundreds or thousands of revolutions, depending on the speed. Air or wind will NOT pass through those slots. Matt Laidlaw asked this specific question to HD engineers in a video a few years ago. The engineers agreed, this was definitely a misconception.
@@theinfinitryda That's BS and scientifically impossible. I've had my 2004 FLSTFI with solid wheels, since it was new. I've ridden in cross winds multiple times and I've owned bikes with spoke wheels. There is NO difference. Perhaps you're a novice rider or a very large person that's pushed by the wind.
I appreciate your honesty and enthusiasm. While the Fat Boy is a good Boulevard Cruiser, I definitely prefer the ride and handling of the Heritage Softail more.
I like the chrome hate the color. The front tire size isn't bad , I think the rear is too big. 200 is the biggest I personally would go. The wheels look good. As does the headlight . Just my thoughts. Good vid
i own a 2012 fatboy, i drool over the 2013 breakout. to me the new body style fatboy is a tank breakout. short fenders, over sized headlight, and 240 rear tire.
Mine isa 2012 in Denim Black. I upgraded the exhaust to V&H 2 in 1 Pro Pipe. I still don't want to let it go. I test drove the 2024 today and was disappointed. I felt like I was riding a Honda. The new bike has more take off and torque on the low end but I was disappointed. The new design is missing that mean look and sound that made the bike a Fatboy.
I am considering another Fatboy since my 2022 was stolen, you said cruise control option, is it not standard like on the Breakout or do I have to buy it? It's not a deal breaker but there ya go again Harley, bilking more cash out of us, not cool. Deciding between the 2024 Fatboy or the 2024 Breakout, test ride time to make the decision. Thanks for the great reivew, well done!
The Fatboy is a good bike and solid performer, but at my height of 6ft the handlebars are too low. I would buy a bike with mini apes like the Heritage or the Road King.
I've ridden bikes with spoke wheels at speeds where they blocked wind like a solid rim and a strong gust would nearly push the tires out from under you. Slots won't help much at speed.
@@theinfinitryda The weight of a bike does more than anything to minimize the effect of wind gusts pushing the tires sideways. I've ridden bikes having everything from old-fashioned spiked rims to a five point "star" mag to solid rims in all types of weather and at speeds ranging from creeping to 180+ mph. At high speed every rim behaves like a solid rim when hit by wind gusts. The lighter the combined weight of bike and rider, the more effect wind has on instability. Of course, the closer a rider's weight comes to the weight of the bike, the less stable bike becomes as the center of gravity moves upward.
I move a lot of bikes for a living and when i jump on this. The handling/ stock pull back bars and big wheel/ geometry 📐 just feels wacko/ heavy. I think this bike would benefit greatly with apes and slimmer rear tire
