By the way. It depends on the source of listening! Sonos and Bose has a chip which supports the lossless wireless audio! We don’t have that in apple and will never have it in Sony without subscription
Super appreciated, there's a lot of people only talking about headphones, without giving us a chance to actually have a listen. I've listened to this On my Sennheiser HD 660S through a balanced out on iFi Zen Dac v2. The Airpods Max sounded the best, most clear, with good instrument and vocal separation. Sony is flat and Boomy at the same time, Bose is..ok. The SONOS? The SONOS sounded just wrong, there is a cacophony of sounds clashing against each other, resonating in a bad way. Huuuge dissapointment. People should still go for Sennheiser Momentum 4 or Bowers&Wilkins Px7 S2e, or B&O H95, Focal Bathys, Mark Levinson in that upper echelon.
Sony is known for many things, but definitely not for bass. Bass is Bose or sennheiser. The Sony in this video sounds so dull, I can’t even imagine listening to techno on them.
@@Isamer0they ramped up the bass on the xm5s a lot. When you directly compare them to xm4, you wouldn’t believe that they are supposed to be the direct predecessor. I had to return them because it makes them so exhausting for the ears
I just got a pair of Sonos and unfortunately they don’t match up against apples max when it comes to noise cancellation and transparency. But on a positive note they are much lighter and sexier looking than the Max. Now the Max lasted only 2 years for me before they stopped working I am hoping I can get at least 3 or more years out of these Sonos and if I do then they were worth my investment.
Tough call. I have both. The Sony x5m and the Apple AirPod max. I have to return the Apple today if I don’t want them. I think Apple sounds a little better , but the Sonys are so much more comfortable. The APM clamp to hard and it hurts. Because of the pain , I don’t think I can keep them
I think the source material makes a big difference. For movies and TV, the ACE sounds awesome for headphones but for music it’s a bit more balanced. Overall the ACE is a great package.
I trust this review I tried the Sonos and found them disappointing in the wearing of them if you want to wear them a touch loose tilting your head they fall off you have to wear them tight not like Bose which don’t have that problem, the volume button also seems cheap not sure how long before problems arise they were my main negatives
Gave your video review a shot and found myself enjoying how you broke everything down while showing the differences between the the four major players. I haven't tried the Sonos myself personally but I do own both the Sony & Bose headphones in your video & they are both superb in quality, comfort & sound. I felt like you did a fantastic job highlighting the differences & sincere thanks!
Those strums on the ACE at 1:32 had like no detail, it was just so lifeless. I heard these in person at a local audio hifi shop and was severely disappointed with the sound. The app was also incredibly lackluster with a simple slider for bass and highs, no EQ graphs like what others provide.
This is a really cool idea to demonstrate sound quality. Great job. I have an Audio Technica wired version and man i unable to replicate that quality in any bluetooth headset so far. The xm5 does sound exactly how a typical sony signature will sound like bass probably could be reduced using eq but i have no idea since i don't own one. The apple has a wider soundstage but lacks in base which we will not have eq available to tweak. I am in constant dilemma to go for which one as much tech wise the xm5 feels interesting the soundstage wise the apple is inviting me in but still i know none of them will be upto the mark i want the sound to be.
@@DannyPops thnx for your lightning respond. 😉 i was hoping the Ace was wide enough being a Sonos enthousiast. Watching movies is my main thing, never listening to music with headphones it is the most logical one to buy? I do own everything Apple too, including Apple TV so i could go Apple but wait a little bit for their next one coming out later this year. Thank you again👍
Sonos Ace sound much better, their sound is the most balanced and pleasant, followed by the Bose QC Ultra. Apple Airpod Max and Sony sound terrible, like cheap headphones. IMHO!
You haven’t even tried the other brands. How could you judge like that? Of course if it comes from a guy that’s had one of all those pairs, you will think it’s the best.
To be honest, none of the headphones sounded good. I'm an audio engineer and I listen to a lot of headphones and in my experience, wired headphones just sound better.
What would you then recommend? I love music but I’m very particular maybe a little TOO particular for sound in general. Most phones don’t offer a jack for audio, and are only Bluetooth capable. Most bass enhancing headphones really just meddle the sound when turned up loud. Worked at a university communications station as a volunteer early in my freshman year of high school for community service reading to the blind over radio. I caught the attention of a radio host who had started working for the university to start their very own radio station. He ended up mentoring me and teaching me everything there was about radio, from on air work, producing, disc jockeying, running a show, most importantly speaking (which as an intense introvert that could vanish in a room taught me a lot, still introvert). I sucked it up like a sponge. Ended up going every day. Soon I was teaching college students and had my own show before and was a manager of production my freshman year of college. Blah blah blah. All this to say, I really developed an ear for sound in general and it really bothers me if quality isn’t great. I had to return a headphone just the other day, immense dissatisfaction as soon as I heard the quality. I’m looking for something that’s android &apple compatible has ANC and noise cancelling, and something I can make calls on. Maybe something with customizable EQ and a mobile-friendly app
Obligatory "I'm an ________________" TH-cam comment professional. Just state your experience without some fake credentials. Why would a sound engineer be looking at a vs video for headphones they know that suck.
You might love SONOS sound, but just try to get help from them and you enter the hotter regions of hell. Why consider a sound product that you cannot get to turn on after 2 hours with so called customer service. (No human available weekends, holidays.). Yesterday I breathe a sigh of relief whenI slapped on the return label (that was anotherSONOS voyage thru hell..another story) and dropped them thru the chute. Goodbye forever ro SONOS. anyone want to buy some speakers?
Apple sounds the best for me, then Bose, Sony, Sonos, how would it sound in an apple device using Dolby atmos
i thought the same! same rank as mine
I agree
For me, Sonos, apple, Bose , Sony

Vague impression based on this video: Sony for bassheads, Apple for detail, Sonos for a balance.
This saved me so much time. Thank you

TOP 1: Sony - Bose
TOP 2: Apple
TOP 3: Sonos

Can you pick a sadder song next time ?
I know, but at least we got a real song this time!
@@DannyPops true that.
Freedom was a highway song is 🔥
Hi Danny, have you tried the Sennheiser Momentum 4 because it came highly recommended? greetings
I havent but I have heard of its legacy

Ironically that sounded more lively that the QC ultra. QC ultra was probably the worst. Best was the XM5.
I feel like there was an inception with me listening to this video with my AirPods Max while listening to a sound test of the AirPods Max.
In the UK BOSE QuietComfort Ultra 60th Anniversary special edition can be bought for £284.96 direct from BOSE - 03/10/24
I checked these out in person today at the store. I wanted to like the new sonos but agree I liked the Sony and Apple better due to fit and comfort.

Now what about M4s?
What about condensation build up on the Airpods Max after a couple of hours use??
Not just someone but most of the reviewers apart from those that assured through bass 😎
I brought the ACE because I have sonos arc. They are descent headphones
Bose Best
Wow!!! Amazing song for this review!!! You just teleported me to my best musical time =)
Looking at how short you have to retract the headbands, you seemed to have a small head 😅
Interesting review by the way 👍
Thanks! That was super useful :)
The Might be the better alternative between all these models!
Review the Harman Karman go+play 3 underrated and it needs more light
Thnx for this one! Me having slightly bigger ears than average, what are the biggest cups?
For big ears I'm fairly certain the apple airpods max are best. I haven't measured but I always feel they have the most room in them.

Bose for the win. Great work as usual g.
love your review!
Sony best on my headset. Great reviews!
the xm5's hand covering thing can be done even on the xm3's :P
The cleverly named Sony WH-1000XM5 won for me
Sony ❤
I’d say that the apple one goes below everything!
Sonos and Bose just rocks it!
I can’t agree about the comfort and mic of AirPod at all!
Apple still for me. The rest are not as loud for my deaf ears lol
Is it just me or you can see the hurt 😢 while the song plays.....apple for the win 🏆
