This is probably not the best place to say all this, but I don’t have Twitter or a bunch of other social medias, so here goes. First, when I saw this video I immediately thought of the joy this event would bring the community, but more specifically the joy that would most certainly be seen on the face of Shivam Bhatt. During the pandemic I have been separate from my playgroup and gone through the cancelling of magic events at my LGS due to staffing issues on top of all the other stuff that comes with it, but one thing that I gained through these past two years was the Casual Magic podcast. It reinvigorated me so deeply and had me less upset by my current surroundings and instead looking forward to the future. I just can’t thank you enough for not just the podcast but reminding me time and time again how much I love this community, my friends, and all the other wonderful non magic things in life. I can’t find the words. You’ve helped me feel connected, showed me so many cool people, and shown me why I love life at a time where I was struggling to see it for myself. It means the world. Thank you!
I am so, so jealous of everyone who got to go. I am an *EXTREMELY* introverted person, but I would always go to MTG prerelease events(when I could afford them). There was something to it, being much more at ease knowing that everyone there, is there for a basic reason, and it's to have fun with Magic in one way or another. It's been years and years since I've been to a prerelease event, and with covid, it's been nearly 2 years of not even being able to see my personal friend's group, so I've sincerely missed the game and having at least someone to hang out with 1-4 times a month.
For some reason, when I read the title, I was sure it was talking about Pro Tour Honolulu and was excited to hear you retell the epic story of Hans and his Platinum Angel
Really great snapshot of the event and how fun the energy was there! Hearing the pseudo-American accent I've developed is a trip though ahah Thanks for the great video Gavin!
I really wish I could have made this event (I decided not to apply to judge since I needed to make sure I could find some work for the holidays), and seeing pictures and videos just makes me sadder that I couldn't make it. Here's hoping that I can make something in 2022.
We did manage to gather about 500 players for a commander event in Denmark a few months ago! But of course small considering a MagicFest, but its was pretty cool to be a part of making, and bringing people like playing with power, I hate your deck, spleenface, into the north, and mtgcomedian. Hope to see you at one of our events in the future :-)
Vegas was simply incredible, even when I was working the whole time. It was just a wonder to be back in the hall with familiar sights, sounds, and friends once again. I'm already anxiously anticipating the next one.

These large events are a wonderful experience to any magic fan. I wish i could have made it to vegas, but im hopeful that more events will be coming soon!
I went...I was told despite their website saying you could buy tickets to the Command Zone online or on site that they had sold out, and it's my fault for believing their website. I mean, they devoted a good 7% of the space to the biggest format in the game, clearly that's on me for being unprepared. Went to the strip and had more fun gambling anyway, but fuck Channel Fireball forever.
I think a lot of it is via Spelltable, and people joining communities of players. Whether from a local store, friend group, Discord, or stream community.
I'd say there was a lot of both at the event. We are all friends who hadn't seen one another in a while so we get excited to play each other, but I was also just as excited to jump into games with people I didn't know. :)
Glad to see you wearing a mask this time! I saw the photos of you at a creator event with at least around 50-100 people a little while back and was disappointed to say the least, but I assumed there was significant tests/precautions hopefully because half of the peeps were and the other half were not wearing any face covering etc.
So I opened up this video with the expectation that I may be in it. I went to Las Vegas this year. The first ever GP I've been to. My first night in vegas. I got blackout drunk, and spent the night on the town. I awoke. Around 10am. And drunkily took a uber to the GP. My uber was kind enough to stop at jack in the box. And I waited until I arrived at the events center before eating...... and in the first 10 seconds of the video..... I'm eating the first thing I've had in like 16 hours........on the right side of the camera behind gavin. I didnt recognize him at the time. I just saw a small guy in a fancy suit.
There was a covid breakout and WOTC and other channels have been trying to cover it up. I blame leadership for not screening entries appropriately and for groups blocking the announcement that there was a covid breakout. This is on you, Gavin.
