Oncoming, it’s missing the mechanical whir of the engine, and from the rear, it sounds much less “bass-y”, crisp, and metallic than from a real life exhaust. Plus, the Doppler effect and atmospheric echo of the car from a distance is missing (or at least isn’t amplified enough), and the backfire doesn’t sound as punchy... They did replicate the characteristic straight cut gear whine of this car’s drivetrain, though, which is really neat. All-in-all the sound just isn’t quite there with the cars; it’s like the uncanny valley for audio. Almost like real life, but there’s just those small details missing that, when you notice them, really break the illusion of it being real... I really hope the audio engineers at CodeMasters can pick up on those points, and improve that in the second DiRT Rally, along with toning down the graphical color palette, as it’s far too vibrant...
@@Dragoneer , the backfire on the Ford Focus and Lancer X is pretty good on Dirt Rally, here sounds like live rally at high volume and bass boost on my beast Logitech Z5500 digital 5.1 speakers, I can even feel the bigger bang from the exhaust in my chest from the subwoofer air wave big explosion sound. After Dirt Rally sadly the backfire lost all its power Dirt 4 sounds like shit and Dirt 2 actually have improved sound effects which sounds much better but sadly the low frequency is mostly cut, the Evo X on Dirt Rally 2 have better effects but the exhaust bangs dont do anything anymore, my subwoofer barely works and those speakers already have overpowered bass compared to the highs and mid frequency... :(
guily6669 You can always add an EQ over the top to boost the lower frequencies if you really wanted to, it’s quite easily done if you’re playing on PC. But while DiRT Rally’s sound design is amazingly accurate, it is not exempt from criticism. My point was that the car sounds were too bright and not as raspy as they were in real life, and I don’t think any speaker setup would fix that issue. It’s down to the core sound design, basically. Take the 037 for example, my one pet peeve with that game is that you can’t hear the engine whine when off throttle. And the 205 T16, which is meant to have a turbocharged I4, sounds more like a rusty crossplane V8. But these are just minor things, I’m aware they’ve changed this with it’s successor...
@@Dragoneer I know the equalizer stuff, but its still quite too much cut and I already have a good output sound card even though its old, but I don't think either changing bass frequency or putting it maxed out on my sound card will sadly fix the almost non existing big explosion on the game sadly... And about the rest it also depends a lot on the car, same on Dirt Rally 2 some cars work good and sound pretty cool and have more sound effects than on Dirt Rally 1 while some cars still also have problems and sound cut while changing gears or throttle off or other things and also some cars sound very similar to the real one while some dont match, but overall its still pretty damn good its one of the best sounds ever on racing games even though some effects are not 100% accurate. Anyway best sound effect with even very low technology I ever heard on a racing game was this: th-cam.com/video/piz6k-NBz90/w-d-xo.html It has a lot of problems and the very old rfactor doesnt really support much sound effects quality, but still 4 something so old and so basic it does sound completely POWERFUL FFS it puts almost all devs with 70+€ racing games to shame on something for free as the mod is probably free, I never tried it or even ever liked much Rfactor generally at all I preferred GTR specially GTR2 from Simbin :).
+Lee Broadbent maybe, but they all have the same problem, they're all French, my clio 197 used to suffer because of that. my dad sold a mk2 golf gti for a 306 diesel was which was crap, brand new and started leaking after 6 months (puddles in the front footwells), gone in less than 18 months, the mk2 golf gti which replaced it was in the family for 9 and a half years. the French can design a brilliant car, they just can't build the damn things.
I still have a radio controlled peugeot 306 Maxi with electric motor and the car matches the Red white and blue one in the video. Had the car for 22 years and it still works great. 😃 I also have a radio controlled Subaru Imprezza WRX 4x4 2001 with a glow engine and that goes alot quicker than the Peugeot.
It was a 6 speed sequential gearbox And today luckly most of 306 maxi still have all original parts... Those few that have 7 speed gearbox are "faked" And Not original The Renault Clio Williams Group A And Maxi had Originally a 7 speed Sequential Gearbox
Y a personne qui veux échanger ca 306 maxi avec un terrain estimée à 80 mil euro oui non oui y a des interresser j en est hériter et pas que de celui la donc a vous de voir
very impressive but I hate the f2 rally cars. they killed group a because they started winning wrc tarmac rallies, beating the group a cars which were based on road cars (making them far more impressive because you could buy one). shame.
+MiniOne82 in 1997 a cosworth wrc looked almost the same as any other cosworth, but with a different spoiler and mk6 escort style front bumper, mk1 rs focus looked just like early wrc spec focus's, as with imprezas and evos. it was until around 2003 that aero got daft. they tried to do what they did to touring cars but super touring worked, wrc spec flopped, especially when the aero came in and it is still dreadful now.
Sounds just like DiRT Rally! Amazing sound and incredible engine by Peugeot!

As an owner of two 306 XSi's I know that I feel the love here. Beautiful car.
there may be a few components shared with your car and this rally car, lights for example, maybe the windscreen.
a friend of mine had 306 rallye.... basically a stripped out gti-6... nice car...

This reminded me the first time we saw the 306 Maxi in action almost 20 years ago with Giles panizzi in th-cam.com/video/eNJkb_lfgMA/w-d-xo.html
giusto omaggio ;-)
Grazie!
Vérifier si il y a pas un taxi dans les rétros ;-)

Le 306 i marche
Still better than any current modern FWD shitty modern rally car. Peugeot 208 is a joke compared to this.

vaya todavía quedan 8 tontos que no saben apreciar un buen tracción delantera.

Yolos Games yup, but redline was at 13k

No they didn't, these were less powerful then the "WRC" cars. GroupA was killed off by the stupid idea of having more aero aka S2000.
+MiniOne82 like what these had
S2000 have far more aero then the Kitcars do, plus 4WD.
