- This video will cover the News Channel, and what it looked like before the shutdown of major online Wii Channels on June 27th 2013. I look over 2 news articles that were of my interest, and do a little globe trotting as well.
There will be at least one more video will be uploaded tonight that shows one more Wii Channel before shutdown.

This was such a weird channel for Nintendo to make. A news channel that reports news on potentially controversial topics seems out of character for a company like Nintendo to make. It just shows that Nintendo truly wanted the Wii to be a sort of entertainment center that families would use for lots of different things. Instead, most families just used it as a Wii Sports machine and shelved it when the mobile market hit the scene.
Imagine a news channel on the switch
Yeah I don't think the world, especially not Nintendo, was ready for how much the iPhone and Android were going to change technology

The funny thing is, I never read anything on the News Channel, I just messed around with the globe.
Same, and if you spun it so much, the planet explodes I believe. I don't remember because the A.R. Games app on the 3DS had the same concept.
They should add the forcast channel and the news channel to the wii u

I know not many people are checking the forecast, browsing the news or watching netflix on the wii anymore
but what I don't get it why shut these things down? I can get not running multiplayer servers for games like mario kart wii or smash brawl anymore but media services have their own servers so its kind of dumb they shut those down
Actually, a lot of people are still using these channels because of RiiConnect24. There's also Wiimmfi where it revives online play again so you could play all games online. Sadly, you cannot use streaming channels like Netflix, Hulu and more.
0:39 when I got on, I couldn’t connect here’s what it said when WiiConnect24 is on:

WiiConnect24 cannot be used.
Check your connection settings.
I can’t remember the 4th sentence.
But without it:
WiiConnect24 is currently turned off.
I can’t remember any more sentences.
These channels were discontinued, but if you get RiiConnect24, then you can restore them.

Why does the switch not have a news channel? Ok it has kinda but I mean with real-life news or weather not upcoming game or update news.
They should have called this The Purge of the Wii channels until you install riiconnect24
