      Maybe because they only offer awesome musics, no legs, boobs or cute faces, things that most people looking for from Japan music, if we came purely for musics, Asterism is one of best thing we can get from Japan music scene today.

    They're my favourite instrumental band nowadays (and there's many great ones though!). And if you take their age into account ... They play with the deep wisdom of top musicians twice their age and the insane energy of three teens.

    Exactly my thoughts. I absolutely wish them all the success and recognition they can get in the world and think they are criminally unknown. And maybe a singer would make it easier for them, but I just love them for what they are now.

    • @GlassMoonGaming
      @GlassMoonGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A singer would probably help them make it more, but I don't think a singer works with this group from the few I've heard. The guitar is the "lead singer". They are friggin amazing!

    I am perpetually in awe of the extraordinary talent of these three young musicians. It puts the mediocre fare that we've been served for too long in the west to shame.

    My word for this is.... MASTERFUL. Masterful composition and masterful interpretation.
    I just discovered this song today (2022.09.14), and was completely hyped just after 15 seconds, and after multiple listenings, I am still speechless and completely blown away by these three highly talented musicians.
    Everything is perfect in this song. The audio recording is phenomenal and the sound of the three instruments is so good.
    Just imagine if we have an MV of this song recorded in a beautiful church. 😭

    Asterism rocks! Hal-Ca is my favorite guitarist

  • @guybrushthreepwood1519

    Really can't say enough good things about them, they're simply awesome.
    If I'm not mistaken Hal-ca announced a move to Tokyo, so who knows, they might actually become bigger, they do deserve it. She did start doing vocals as well, those are still a little rough around the edges, but a purely instrumental band is hard to get off the ground. Their own stuff is all incredible, but I do find it fun to take a look at how they handle covers, and their rendition of SRV's Scuttle Buttin' and Van Halen's Jump are both super fun to watch, especially the Jump One Take video and Hal-Ca's choice of footwear...
    It's no wonder that miyu's the youngest bass player to have an ESP signature model (I heard, not sure when that happened though, I haven't found a date on ESP'S page).
    Other than that, I know it has been said before, but *Dawn* is what I would I consider their calling card song.

      The solo in Dawn is something incredible, in which Hal-ca, at 16 years old, puts herself on a par with world-class guitar virtuosos.

    Asterism is truly one of the most talented bands out of Japan ! I grew up listening to Jeff Beck and Hendrix so this is right up my ally ! My favorite song by them is [ Rising Moon ] MV ( AL "The Session Vol. 2 ) Hal-Ca is only 15 in that video and Miyu (Bass) is 16 . I agree with you and have requested them to lots of reactors but they never check them out =( Thanks Great Reaction =)

    I've only seen a few six-string bass guitars in person and have never seen one with more strings. Miyu's ESP has two truss rods, also something I can't recall ever seeing. They're going to play at a place called Shibuya Cyclone on 5/11, but they're crammed in with four other bands and are only getting twenty-five minutes to play. I'm glad for any exposure they get and all, but damn, twenty-five minutes? They've spent more time promoting on their social media than they're going to be playing!

    • @GlassMoonGaming
      @GlassMoonGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd go to see them do a full set for sure! I've seen a chapman (sp?) stick in person. Amazing how anyone can play one. LOL

    • @PaleHorseShabuShabu
      @PaleHorseShabuShabu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GlassMoonGaming The first time I saw a Chapman's Stick was in a music video from a Christian band called Circle of Dust. I was so confused and intrigued when I saw it, and it took me a while to track down what it was. I don't think I've seen one in person. I have seen a Warr Guitar in person, though. At an annual street festival here in Yellow Springs, Ohio, a dude was playing one on the street along with a guy playing a saxophone and another guy playing a digeridoo. It was the weirdest combination of sounds I can imagine, but it was cool to watch.

    Weird how the world works. I just today downloaded this album (not having heard "Church" yet) and I KNEW I would love it. Your reaction confirms it. I was also thinking at the very start of this video that this sounds like jazz fusion (awesome!), just the heavier, rockier side of it. Amazing! Thanks GMG! Oh.... "Dawn". 🤯🕊

    Thanks for reacting to more Astersim! They are great, aren't they? If you want to get to know them a bit better, perhaps we could start from the beginning? Although the brothers and Haruka had performed separately before forming Asterism (as O.G.I. and HAL-CA, respectively), the first song they wrote together was "155", back when Haruka was just 11. They have an early studio session of it on their TH-cam channel, if you want to take a look. But their second song, "Rising Moon", is the song they played when winning the Yamaha 9th Music Revolution in 2015 (when Haruka was 12). It eventually got a music video, recorded around her 15th birthday, and released in conjunction with their second EP (The Session Vol.2, 2018):
    th-cam.com/video/IfxMi0Bx4x0/w-d-xo.html
    Only 7 months later, they released their first full album (Ignition, 2018). A good one here is "Blaze", although you should probably avoid the album version (and thus the official music video), as this is one of the tracks that were produced by Bootsy Collins, and I really think he did a poor job of it. Another great one is "Light in the Darkness", which is hard and fast with with some nice shredding. But the song you definitely don't want to miss is "Dawn", which I would argue is the best track in their entire catalogue. Here it is, performed live in 2019:
    th-cam.com/video/buQPvINJcA0/w-d-xo.html
    Ignition would eventually be followed by Guernica (2020) and Guernica+a (2021), with more progressive material than their earlier releases. "Church" and "Gunfire" are both from this album. Other great ones are "Then & Now", "Full Throttle", "Day 26", "Museum of Death" and "Faced/Burned". Right now the last two are on high rotation on my daily playlist, but it changes all the time. So many great songs to choose from. Here is a video of "Stars", which is perhaps one of the more popular tracks on the album:
    th-cam.com/video/G0_K3EH9U0A/w-d-xo.html
    They have also made a fair amount of decent covers. If you like Rush, Haruka does a mean "YYZ":
    th-cam.com/video/I4nsZy3E0rQ/w-d-xo.html
    But if you don't mind a bit of blues, I really love their version of "Scuttle Buttin". I honestly think she plays it better than Stevie Ray Vaughan ever did:

    I didn't think of Miami Vice 😉 but did think of the greatest fusion bands of the late 70's and early 80's. When you said "jazz done like heavy metal" you hit the nail on the head. That is what fusion was.

    Tha'ts what I'd like to know. This band tickles my heart. They started when they were 14 yo. They are 20 - 21 now. Such talent. I just found out that the 7 string bass was custom made for this bassist. Mio, or MIyu. I forget. Noone else can get that bass but him. Sorta like a copyright I guess.

    It's really unfair that true talent hardly stands a chance against the masses nowadays, isn't it? I so agree with you that these 3 amazing musicians should be known all over the world. At least with everyone who is into rock or metal.
    The soundscapes they create as a 3-piece band are insane. Most of their songs are several adventure journeys in one.
    In the last few weeks and months they've released a few anime covers, of which 'Unravel' stands out the most for me, and if you haven't heard it yet, their track 'Dawn' is an absolute must. There's a 360° video of it on their channel, but there's also a great fan-cam live recording that was uploaded by user Takako 2 years ago (the video title is "ASTERISM 『DAWN』2019/04/20"). Yes, the sound is not professionally mixed, but don't let that put you off, it's really fantastic and these 3 take you on one of those adventure journeys. Especially the last third after the very special breakdown is absolutely insane imho, and I can only recommend you to let it run without a pause and just enjoy it till the end. :)
