They moved to Tokyo in the spring and their bookings have been picking up. This vid is from a show in April 2019 in their native Fukuoka at Club Utero. It was a double bill with vocalist Maki Oyama (best known for collabs with Aldious) and she performed with them. This was the best Japanese band I wanted to see live but hadn't, until I finally saw them in Sept. They finished their set a bit early and I requested some improvised walking-bassline 4/4 jazz and dang if they didn't play some. Can play anything. (Miyu started playing the 7-string at 13 yo.)

That's so friggin cool! I bet they are amazing to see!

As you so perfectly pointed out too, that section after Miyu's bass part is simply otherworldly. I've been listening to metal/rock for the past 30 years but not many tracks caused such tear-inducing, breathtaking emotions like the last few minutes of this. Genuinely one of the greatest musicians of the last few decades, not only due to their instrumental technical skills but their ability of writing these perfect song structures....and yes, they don't need vocals or words, they allow their instruments to sing and take us on journeys into unimaginable depths. Hal-ca is indeed a genius!

I think they should be known more to heavy metal and rock fans all over the world.
Thank you for introducing them to everyone✌

This song was my introduction to this absolutely amazing band. I have probably watched this video at least two dozen times, always blown away. One of the best guitar performances I've ever seen/heard, this coming from someone who has been a guitar fanatic for well over 25 years. Haruka is my main inspiration these days, simply the best. There are a ton of killer guitarists from Japan, but she is truly special. And Miyu and Mio more than hold their own. Their Guernica + A album is a progressive metal masterpiece, and they are only getting started. That musicians this young can write and play like this completely blows my mind. Their live in the studio versions of Church, Faced/Burned, Disperse, and Day 26 are worth checking out, and all of their anime cover videos from this year are awesome as well. Glad to see you recognize genius when you hear it! Thanks.

This is among my favourite performances I have seen by them if not my top one. I already love this song, but this performance shows so much passion and emotion. It's crazy that they were able to create something like this at such a young age, but their age is basically irrelevant (it just makes it even more amazing). This is top tier music and it doesn't need any other qualifiers.
I understand that some people prefer to have vocals in their music or think that it can be shorter, but to me this is very close to perfection of what I love about music. Still a raw recording that shows tiny mistakes, but it makes it feel so much more powerful and real to me and has way more emotion than any other record can.
I have done so in the past, but I want to thank Takako (and the couple other people that put Asterism fancams on youtube) for the recording and putting it on their channel. I really appreciate these, especially since I understand it's less common to record shows on phones in Japan compared to the West.

This was, simply put, amazing! I haven't stopped listening to it! As for vocals and long music, I say instrumentals that are done right can be better than vocals because they get that emotion across without words, and that's difficult to do sometimes! As for length, I'm a Dream Theater fan...bring on the length. LOL

I completely agree. And thanks to Takako and Chappy for all the great early fancam videos, really helped me see how truly amazing this young trio is.

Y’all, that solo section immediately after the bass solo gets me so emotional! It’s like a fusion of Gary Moore and Joe Satriani plus ALL Haruka Noma. She wrings my heart out.💪🏻🤘🏻

Thanks for getting to this, and no problem that you just watched it. There is so much to unpack. The last two minutes is the best two minutes of electric guitar I think I've ever witnessed. Simply out of this world. There are a half dozen versions of "Dawn" floating around, and no two are the same. This is my favorite version so far.

    • @GlassMoonGaming
      @GlassMoonGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +3

I agree completely about the last 2 min. To me, it rivals John Petrucci's Hollow Years from Budokan, and that's saying a LOT coming from me!

This song and perfomance SLAYS me. Full body chills EVERY time 🥶. The technical and compositional skills of these musicians is unbelievable, but the confidence and CHARISMA of the 3 take them to whole otHER LEVEL! Brilliant! Bucket-list band, man! Thanks much, GMG! 🕊🕊

I know I've praised Hal-Ca a lot and rightly so.
But this boy, 17 yo at this point, before his bass solo, is just overflowing with confidence. He knows he's gonna slay it and everyone is meant to see it 💪🏻
So, when are going to react to Asterism again? 😉

Hal-ca just scored a deal with ESP guitars. She is now an offiical endorser. From her Instagram: "I've been using an ESP guitar for a while, but now I'm officially an ESP endorser 👏✨ Thank you for your support 🎸"
One of the guitars she shows in her Instagram post has "five" pickups. The other one has four. This is going to be fun.

That means Miyu only just turned 17 back then. He was born in the same year as Hal-ca, but Miyu was born in March and Hal-ca in November (she turns 20 on November 23rd).
It's amazing how they were able to create such emotional and technical songs at such a young age while still being a very coherent song and not just a bunch of shredding for the sake of it.

@@hit0015 sorry but nope, this was recorded in a club in Hal-Cas hometown Fukuoka where they, afaik, did some regular performances over time.

That was the last stop on their only U.S. tour so far.
