- Hello, dear ones! In this video, I turned an abandoned armchair into a work of art and now it will continue to serve as favorite place to sit in the garden.
I decided to show the whole process because I saw the potential for transformation in this neglected piece of furniture 💪😍🌊

Jakub, I am as moved by this restoration as I was with an old, beautiful abandoned antique rug a few years ago. How you treated this chair shows the loving and caring man you are. It's beautiful and I can see why it was a favorite chair.

I hope the owner puts some wood oil or sealants on the wood. It is so beautiful and clean , I hope they protect the wood so it can stay this perfect for many years to come.
The gentleman who recovered the armchair said he would secure the wood appropriately. He was very pleased with the effect 😍🥰

Looks a bit like an Ikea “Poang” chair… but not exactly.
In museums, they make a distinction between “restoration” and “conservation”.
Restoration can mean throwing out the foam and fabric and maybe by finding matching fabric, maybe not. And sanding and varnishing or painting the bentwood. It would look “good as new”, good as the day it was bought, and a lot of it would be new.
Conservation extends the life of an artifact while it keeping its integrity as much as practical. It is still the chair it was, with its signs of a life lived. (This is how we see you treat your carpets too.)
And what a spectacularly good job you did!

This chair looks fabulous! If it were my chair, I'd finish the wood off with Howard's Feed-N-Wax. You could re-hab a garbage can and I'd watch the video!
Howard's products are what I use to restore furniture. I would start with Restor-A-Finish, with steel wool in between coats. Then the Feed-N-Wax.

It reminds me of those scratch art things, it has colour under and black on top and it’s scraped away to make pictures or patterns. The shade of blue so vivid, you’re a magician Jacob! 👏🏼

I had to watch this video for a second time. YES, it was that gratifying to see it be cleaned. All it needs now is a light sanding and a coat or 2 of wood sealer. It could last a few more years. 👍👍

To dobrze bo nie raz padały tezy że celowo są brudzone dywany a sam spacerując z psem znalazłem taki sam fotel tylko już bez materiału i po krzakach rzeczywiście leżą dywany i zastanawia mnie to jakim cudem one tam trafiają.Ja mając śmietnik nie targał bym dywanu gdzieś w krzaki.

Looks pretty good. The timber needs a light sand and finishing with a polyurethane coating. Must admit, l would have undone the screws and pulled chair completely apart. It looks like an Ikea chair, is it?

The cleaned chair looks great, but I'm concerned about the padding underneath the fabric. It can still contain mold spores that grows mold in the summer humidity. The chair should be stripped down to the frame and reupholstered before it's used again.
