    When we reached the door room in Frankenstein's Castle, there was a hinged panel that was closed on the correct exit, so all of the doors were incorrect doors lol. We had a great visit to the park, there really is no other place that matches how it feels. We also ran into Gene; very nice man who cares deeply about the park, the locals, and the fans.

      It's sad how long we spent in that room, we did not find the "secret door" & used the "chicken exit".. and at that point, our friend found the secret door :D
      I only wish they had the elevator sequence in the 1st room.
      They used to explain you were descending into the castle basement while the floor shook & lights rotating making it seem you were going downward.
      Now that 1st part is just a lame room you walk through, doesn't set the scene like it used to.
      ALSO, we used to go outside twice, but one walkway has the animatronic guy lifting his head, do we just bypass those doors as we go through?
      Did they reroute us?
      I would pay good $$$ to walkthrough with the lights on & see behind the scenes.

      That old elevator sequence sounds fantastic and I hope it one day returns!
      I saw Gene on Lost Coaster, but I didn't want to disturb him since he was with other employees.

    I loved my visit there, and I look forward to getting back there at some point. I'm finding that I like these independent parks like Indiana Beach, Mt Olympus, Adventureland more than the big corporate parks of Cedar Fair and Six Flags. The ride collection might not be as good, but I like the feel of these parks more.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree the independent parks just have a special atmosphere to them. That's why places like Knoebels that offer both elite rides and atmosphere are so special.

    thanks for visiting our childhood park.
    We live 3hrs from Kings Island & 4 from Cedar Point, but Indiana Beach is an 1.5hrs....
    Many many company picnics took place there.
    I'm so thankful Gene Staples stepped up, and I"m happy to hear you had a good experience at our local park.
    Please come back :D

    When I visited there last June, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my time at this park. There were some hiccups such as them opening the rides one hour after park opening, all the roller coasters except Cyclone running one car or train instead of two, and the All American Triple Loop not even Bering open yet, it was definitely worth visiting because of how unique the ride lineup was, and the setting on Lake Schafer was totally worth it. I can't see myself being in a hurry to return, but I know I will be back sometime in the future, especially when All American Triple Loop is operating.

      The operations at this park have always been the biggest issue. I love the rides and atmosphere.

    Loved the review, it was good. We went for the first time opening day. Thought we'd spend a few hours on our way back from WI. Got to the point where even there was a afternoon storm, we booked a hotel so we could stay all day.
    Call me crazy, I actually like Hoosier Hurricane more than Cornball, but I like all the parks coasters.

    • @CanobieCoaster

      I too am glad I had a full day my recent visit. And I'll definitely call you crazy haha.

    • @TheMrLebaron
      @TheMrLebaron 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CanobieCoaster I think its because I live in Western PA, and Out N Backs are so rare here. Almost all are Terrian coasters, so getting to ride a big out and back was great. I liked the views oh Hoosier Hurricane to, and it felt a lot faster than conrball. But yeah no air time,

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's fair!

    • @TheMrLebaron
      @TheMrLebaron 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CanobieCoaster I do agree that if they reprofiled some of the drops it could be better. Also I think it has much better presence than Cornball. When you come into the tunnel and onto the bridge, the first thing you see is this massive beautiful roller coaster that you get to walk over its second drop. I would bet money that MOST guests see that, and its the first ride they want to ride.

    Great in depth review! I really wanted to go this year but unfortunately I don't see that happening with their lack of enforcement. Quite a shame because I'd really love to get here and support the place.

    Man I wish Minnesota had a hidden gem like this on one of our lakes. Can't wait to make it out here for quimera2.0 this year and cornball. I imagine you have plans to revisit to reride quimera?

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since I rode Quimera at La Feria, it's a park I'd likely add onto a trip rather than it being a primary goal. I'm thinking of doing a Chicago/Michigan trip, so I may add it on there.

    Unfortunately I have to wait until next year to get to Indiana Beach, but Cornball Express, Steel Hawg, and the Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain look like decent coasters that I can't wait to get on next year. Also, nice review.

    Fun fact: The only reason Falling Star is still in operation is because Gene Staples purchased the ones from Adventureland and Bay Beach. The ride will have parts for a loooong time.

    They liked and enjoyed Tig'rr at Indiana Beach, but the version at Great Escape had a lot of experience issues. Which issues did they have with that one?
    They gave a brutal and uncomfortable ride. It was the worst and shakiest Schwarzkopf coaster they've ever experienced in the world.
    The ride was in darkness, there it was easy that they smashed and slammed badly against the side of the vehicle in the turns and drops.
    The building where the ride was housed, did the building have air conditioning or ventilation?
    A) Yes
    B) No
