Excellent video! Well done. Lots of great points. I love techdeck too and have respect for them as I mentioned plenty of times as well. And I was never hating or angry, if anyone says that about me they are taking my words out of context. I do stand behind everything I said about originality and creativity etc. Ultimately they will do what they want to do and it’s all good, but the fingerboard scene has always been big on creating your own designs instead of copying others 1:1. Being inspired by designs is okay but direct copies not so favorable to most of us. Blackriver put in so much work to make the first professional fingerboard trucks in the world!
Yep - you know my feelings are similar to yours! I won't have my definitive opinion until I try one of the Pro Series boards out, but there are enough videos out there to have a baseline!
Question; i saw you super imposing the new td trucks over brts. When were the original td trucks made compared to brts. Because i could say blackriver copied original td baseplates
@@Doomstacked_peasant Well, looking at the OG Tech Deck baseplates side by side with the BRT baseplates, it's safe to say they are fundamentally different. The difference is pretty drastic expecially when compared to the similarities between the new Pro Series vs BRT. I can share a quick TH-cam short comparing them later!
X-Concepts > Spin Master. Tech deck will always have a special place in the fingerboard community considering they ARE the reason why most of us are here. I think they should keep focusing on getting brand new finger-boarders like they have been in the past vs going after the “intermediate” crowd. We ask for retro ramps like xconcepts used to make (maybe they don’t own the rights) but I’d rather see them being back retro stuff vs trying to complete in the pro market. We love techdeck, the one who make’s amazing plastic entry level completes for $3-$6, the scene doesn’t really need these.
Ya dude. They have all these Classic series decks, I think a classic TD obstacle pack would do well. I’d even be hyped to see the old style kicker/stairset/QP/Rail modular setup. Cheese and crackers mini, even another replica spot series with new spots.
I agree. Tech Deck has the entry level product on lock. It's a good spot for them to stay, considering they keep missing the mark on anything past that.
Thanks for the recognition of the hard work that we put into the communities across the United States! Love the channel, and love your content! Season 3 of our Competitive Fingerboarding Summer Tour dates drop next Tuesday 2/7/23! 🛹❤️🔥💯
Alot of $3 tech deck users never experienced using a pro fb like dynamic pro, berlin wood boards , black river boards. Once they try it there like this is smooth urethane wheels more maneuverable lighter board feel even makes tricks easier then that sandpaper texh deck
The quality problem doesnt even start at techdeck. I bought a berlinwood deck which was way to crooked in shape. It almost looked like a misshapen board. I bought blackriver trucks which had locknuts that were broken already and came off. also i had winkler wheels. The bearings became loose. I spent over 100$ for a wreck of parts. I will never again spent so much. Id rather buy cheap stuff and have the same quality😂
Bro I bought a Blackriver starter, it came with trucks that are worst than my 10 years old tech deck...like after 5 kickflips the wheels literally took off from the truck, which also was affected with the bolt litterally loosen and nearly fell off...wheels are plastic, but doesn't even spin good (only one of 4). With the amount of money I spent I didn't expect this thing to happen tbh. Ordered some trucks and wheels from Aliexpress, paid like 25€ for the all (4 trucks+8 pvc wheels)...I don't think they will be worst then the one I got now tbh
I agree with this statement. BRTs have taken a nose dive these past couple of years. My last two sets had a kingpin issue and the last set of winklers I had were slipping bearings. Not worth it anymore, and still pretty expensive.
Man I love every fingerboard brand and tech deck was there when the other ones were hard or expensive to obtain (even more where I live) and I think that hating a brand that is trying to grow just by the excuse of knocking off a design is kinda dumb, which fingerboard brand trucks were used when black river have not yet developed their trucks? man customizing and upgrading tech deck trucks were a piece of art on their prime time!! I still remember a young Mike Schneider making videos about it on youtube and now criticizing it's just sad... Let's just take this as a step on fingerboarding, maybe this can take a future pro to the moon!!
One can be a fan of Tech Deck while being critical of certain product decisions - part of me is hopeful that this is a sign Tech Deck is going to finally go all in and support fingerboarding events. I've always found their base product to be the best entry level item of any hobby I've seen! Now, the Pro Series seems to be another story 😂 but I will form my opinion of the product when I finally get one!
I'm coming at this a little bit late. But at your point at 8:25 in, they DO have the resources available. They did collabs with the handboards with Independent and Tensor.
Like anything else in life, I won't have an opinion until I try it myself. I have Berlin wood and flat face completes and I also have just plain tech decks. As a consumer, I'm just here to have fun and enjoy it so that's what I'm going to do. PS. Mike's g15.12 board has helped me tremendously. Thank you for that creation
I got mine a few days ago and to be honest, I could go in depth about the pros and cons with the new pro series. I will say that the first thing I did was put some illpills wheels on almost instantly. Those rubber wheels have decent bearings, but I wasn't too fond of the size and feel. Secondly, I put on black velvet grip rather than having grip as thick as the board itself. The pro series grip was surprisingly grippy though. I've also noticed that the deck itself isn't shaped the best. Unlike your average blackriver deck, the edges aren't rounded and the shape of the deck is a little angled. I haven't had any issues with the trucks so far, other than one axle sticking out slightly further than I'm comfortable with. I'm also not a big fan of inverted kingpins. The deck is nice, considering it's 34mm. I do enjoy the concave and shape of the kicks. It's as thick as a 7ply BR deck for being a 5ply. I ride 7ply anyways, so that worked out fine. Overall, it's a good first step into the pro scene for Tech Deck. It's better than other completes I've used that cost about $50. I think After taxes I paid around $75 and received it in about 5 days. I genuinely do enjoy the board, especially since I've swapped out the wheels and grip. I'm going to order a new set of BRT or Dynamics for it soon. Overall rating, 7/10!
Thank you for sharing your experience! Glad to see there are many positives to build on :D Your experience echoes what I've heard: Good: Decent deck / trucks Not good: wheels / tape $75 doesn't sound too expensive for a decent setup!
Fb Christopher had someone grind his down a little bit. I’m assuming that’ll make it much better board feel wise. With as many pro decks they have to make, I’d also assume they don’t have the time to fully sand them down. I wish they just added some China urethane or plastic wheels, I don’t understand why they went the duro route, such a random wheel to include. As if bearing slip isn’t a big enough problem, adding a two part wheel doesn’t make sense to me. I wonder if they’ll have “pro pack” replacement sets, kinda how they have the skate shop packs with the extra trucks/wheels etc. I’m all for TD doing this, was hoping they didn’t get too crazy with certain things. They nailed it aside from the wheels. I’ve also seen both style kingpins, wonder if they’ll have the two available and not just inverted.
@@cdplaya Nice! Denver also won a Tech Deck competition at Maloof back in the day! We used to build fingerboards and ramps for fun in my garage back in like 2006 lol good times… Thanks for the content! 🙏🏼
That's amazing! I'm asssuming you still fingerboard these days? Side note, checked out your channel and I love it! Subbed and watched like ten videos :D
Would love to try one because the deck does seem a lot better than the performance series but i can't justify spending $70 plus another 30-40 for new wheels when I could get a pro setup with dynamics for the same price if not slightly more
I been a huge fan of this tech deck since the day it came out never stopped loving tech deck to me this is huge from the cute little Plastic decks all the way to wood that’s big and a great step in tech deck I love it so much I stayed loyal to this brand pro series is awesome I can’t wait till I buy one when I have up the latest one i have is the wooden performance series plan b that is definitely incredible and so fun so am a fingerboarder keep up the great work tech deck much love.❤️❤️❤️
I posted an initial review of the pro series... after watching this and comparing the trucks again I think TD ripped off br 2.0s but used the inverted kp like dynamic. they work great but I can see why mike would be frustrated! knowing td can produce the boards at an insanely low price yet they are still charging 69.99 seems like a cash grab to me but i also tried to build a similar board from budget fb companies and it costs the same so tech deck could def make it cheaper!. On one side its just another option but it def undercuts BR and the dual durometer wheels are also too sticky for most used to urathane wheels. You make some great points for both sides great vid!
I totally agree that tech deck could have taken a better approach on there trucks, and wheels, I definitely want to try one though and appreciate you bringing this up in a positive way!
Thank you Cliff! As you know, I love Tech Deck and am optimistic about what this COULD mean for the hardcore fingerboard scene! See you and the fam in two weeks my friend!!!
As a noob I sincerely appreciate the complete and thorough explanation of why it's controversial. It definitely would have been cool if there was some conversation between the big players involved and could have arranged a big hype launch campaign with a competitive tour.... Missed opportunities
Thank you for letting me know and glad you appreciated the video!! Yeah, there's def a missed opportunity here but perhaps there will be more chances to get it right!
That green tech deck pro is the board i just got to learn how to FB and 2 teak tuning boards.. im struggling learning how to ollie tho 🤦🏼♂️😂 🛹✌🏻 1 of the wheels on the green Tech deck pro is messed up and spins slow.. would spraying WD-40 help it bud?
You almost got a screen shot of me asking TD to show us these duals they spoke of. I played with those for 10 years before I knew of the wooden fb scene.
Agree with everything else you say tho.. different approach would’ve been fire but it’s Tech Deck. Like I said, expecting too much from a brand that has no fingerboarders working for them. Everyone knows this.. they focus more on skateboarding.
Here are my 3 takes on this: 1. The concept of dual durometer wheels isn't original and was not invented by Mike Schnider so he doesnt have the right to complain about other companies making them. (also it looks like the TD ones suck anyways) 2. No one who buys one of these is getting it instead of Flatface or Black River or any other high end FB branded item so is it really harming anyone? 3. When you charge way too much for a product and do not patent or copyright the design, prepare for the design to be copied and sold for less. It's common sense.
Yeah, I hear you on those points: 1) I, personally, think the design is different from Flatface, however, I have yet to own either a Pro Series deck or Dual Duro wheels 2) That is definitely true! There are brands that offer more affordable setups closer to this price point. I actually wouldn't be surprised if it leads into more sales long-term for the high end brands. 3) Blackriver does have a patent on its trucks! My two primary concerns are: 1) there was an opportunity to have an original truck design and yet the baseplate / hangers are clearly a near copy of the Blackriver design. 2) will they support pro fingerboarding now? They do a lot for their flow team, but will they provide meaningful support to all those out there hosting events and contests? Other than that, the tape and deck deck are original designs! Also, the display case that doubles as a box is pretty legit! There are quite a few reasons to be excited about the product.
@@cdplaya i agree with you. it would have been cool for them to make mini Indys or Thunders or something since it seems like teaming up with skate brands is their thing.
I did not! But really hoping to either in March or April - if I do be sure to say hi! I'll have a video post with what I'll wear so people can find me hahaha
After a year of giving it some thought, honestly these aren't as bad as I initially thought. The complete is overall great. The wheels are still a MAJOR MAJOR bust, however the rest of the complete is great in my opinion. That being said, there is no way I'm paying for these unless it's $30-$40 max!!!
Ehhh. They defenitely are inspired but they do have some differences. But i would like to see tech deck collabing with real truck companies to make fingerboard trucks.
my only thoughts about tech deck making pro fingerboards are the kids who are just starting Finger boarding and thinking they need the most expensive fingerboard that is made by tech deck and then just leaving it in there closet because they find out finger boarding isn't there thing.
Honestly I’ve been looking at getting one of these new pro tech decks for awhile but we have to remember it’s the deck that matters, if you want higher trucks or wheels you can always put different ones on. I personally still skate my 10 dlx pack from tech deck I got almost a year ago one because they are still good and I just don’t want them to go to waste and I’d rather by trucks from Blackriver rather than having to buy an entirely new board for 100 dollars. Even though blackriver has cheaper boards we have to recognize that tech deck is kind of seen as the toy company because of spin master. So the fact that tech deck wants to try and go pro is good, I feel like tech deck just introduced this wrong. Collaborating with a pro company would be the way I would take this on. But then again all communities have their share of problems. So this is going to just pass by and most of us might even forget about it.
You didn’t mention anyone on the tech deck team who actually fingerboards. We have a whole team of rippers and you didn’t once say anything about us and how they support us, helping a lot actually!!
I love that they are building up the team! That's an area they have put a ton of effort into over the past few years. I will be doing a History of Tech Deck video in the near future and will definitely include the team riders in there!
And not for nothing, I’m Black. I’ve met Mike and he acted like he didn’t even know me. He came to my city and acted as if we were ghosts to him. I went to his house and he did the same!! Idk to me over the years thinking about it, it’s rubbed me so bad. Tech Deck actually gave me and ANOTHER black person a chance when no other Fingerboarding company would!!!! I know it’s not racism but it definitely speaks volumes. I met Mike 3 whole times, never have I ever even had a full conversation with him. Mind you, when he came to my city there was like 12 of us at this event!!!! He acted as if he was a celebrity and it was wack.
Also, they support street leagues and dew tours x games etc, real skate events. Without those skate events, or pro skaters there would be not much Fingerboarding!!
@@Eusimentus Overall, I've had a great experience with Tech Deck especially from Steve James! I know they are passionate about their brand, and I'm hopeful the Pro Series is a sign they will invest into fingerboarding events soon! Side Note: been loving your content! You've put a lot of work into fingerboarding and building it up!

Damn bro is just built different like how the heck do you do tricks on your fingernails that’s fakie on a whole nother level btw can u pls do a vid on how to buy good fingerboard obstacles and Amazon and stuff pls thx love ur vids
Tech deck has been being copied for how many years without complains? How many kids started fingerboard "companies" by taking a tech deck and making a mould of it and selling fingerboards of that shape?
Fair point! Most of the early day shapes were bondo molded from a Tech Deck and we were also locked into the 26/27mm size since the only trucks available were those at the time!
I felt a bit skeptical when I saw this new product. It's not the first time TD tried to target an intermediate or advanced fingerboarder user. They did that many years ago with the TD Expert SK8. I had a pair of those, and even though it was a wooden deck, and wheels came along with bearings, the quality of everything was really bad. The bearings broke down in the first sessions, one of the wheels slipped out of the bearing. So, when someone shared a post about this new product, I felt like that, very skeptical. Regarding the trucks and wheels, having the resources the owners of TD have, it's a shame they are not able to come up with sth different than just a cheapy copy-cat alternative. Well, at least they tried sth different with the TD Expert SK8, the trucks had the Indy logo trucks on them, and they did look a lot similar to the real Independent trucks. Just an observation on the video. When you tried to showcase Dynamic trucks, the truck in the image was one of the new Independent trucks. Cool video, I love what you've been doing man on this channel. Keep it up amigo! Cheers and greetings from Nicaragua.
Still waiting here in Germany to buy one just to see what they offer… To be fair, for 70$ I didn’t expect a completely pro setup which can be compared to a real 100$+ setup but for this pricetag I except at least a board on performance level (worth something between 5-10$), nice tape (2-3$) well produced trucks with single axis hangars and already good bushings (something between 20-50$) and the rest of the setup goes into the wheels (from what I have seen till now in max 20$ retail more so 15$)… So when I should guess they calculate (in retail) 10$ for the board, 3$ for the tape, 35$ for the trucks and 22$ for the wheels, something around that… When I am right I would still say the setup is highly overpriced but at least it gives a semi pro setup with real graphics on the cheapest board you just could find (even my first presses are by far better…) with questionable wheels and solid trucks… In the end that’s not really much and I think most people how will buy this as first setup will end up with changing everything without the trucks in a couple of months… But again, till today I could sadly not speak in a review, it’s just from what I saw and what I heard till today… But when I am right I would say you still run better and cheaper with a complete from a „local“ fingerboard store… Here in Germany we didn’t have that much too that you can find one in every city but at least we have some and all of them offers online orders so it’s I a good way to buy your stuff… ASI Berlin for example offers completes that are in most parts just better as the pro tech deck but they are way cheaper with mostly better performance… The cheapest 20€ setup (shop complete 2.0) offers a 32mm deck which is way better produced as any wooden tech deck, cheap Chinese single axis trucks and the better Chinese bearing wheels without bearing pockets… Just for 5€ more you could also order beta bushings as well and for 25€ you have a setup wich performes nearly at same level as the pro tech deck (better deck, slightly worse trucks, wheels are more or less same level)… For just 5€ more you can get the 3.0 shop complete with 32 or 34mm decks (the same like on the 2.0), same wheels and shop trucks 3.0 which are a pretty nice step better as the 2.0, axis in hangar are stiffer and better pressed into the hangar with way better fit for single bearing wheels and a really nice baseplate with pivot cup I just seen on that trucks till now… So for just 30€ (with beta bushings) you got a setup what is at least on the same level when not even better as the tech deck pro (deck is way better, trucks I think are on same level, wheels more or less same level) And if you want duo material wheels just buy a shrink tube for a couple of cents, cut it in wheel big parts an put it on the wheels with a lighter (be careful not to damage the wheels, they could melt or burn pretty fast), with that tuning the wheels are exactly on the same level like the tech deck wheels when not even better, no Idee how good the bearings on the tech deck wheels but those in the better Chinese wheels are pretty well and hold up in most cases pretty well too (bearings slip still sucks but how it seems there is no advantage on the pro wheels from tech deck to this)… Or you even take one of the switching pro Modells from the shop (40€+) with a branded deck (switching, what ever they have left in stock from antidote till wush decks) in everything between 32-36mm setups, with 3.0 shop trucks and mostly shop wheels (the better Chinese bearing wheels) but even there thy sometimes offers setups with stuff like Ill pills but there we are talking about the fitting 100€ for the setup (galo oldschool shape Board in ASI design, 3.0 36mm shop trucks, boardrails, riserpads and the 70D ill pills in shop design)… I have tried the 2.0 and 3.0 completes and I think they are just amazing for this pricetag, the 20€ setup is already on the pricelevel as the performance series and the shop complete is by far better then this (better deck, better trucks, better wheels)… With that I will not say that the tech deck is bad but if you looking for highest worth for your money I could already say that you can get something better for less money then this pro tech deck… The only thing what could help the tech deck are the trucks, if they would be on the same level like brt or dynamics then maybe the tech deck could be worth it but something deep inside me already say „na, this would be too good…“ Hopefully spin master get this sometimes into sales here in Germany but before that happens I sadly still just could watch reviews and made a first opinion without a hands on…
For $69.99 I think I'd rather get a FlatFace G15 complete, but amazon usually sells Techdeck at a higher price than Target anyways. So maybe it'll be cheaper. Either way I don't think I would get one. I've seen reviews on TH-cam that confirm the wheels breaking, too. It's just not a great setup overall, which is kind of disappointing...
As someone who bought the 69.99 G15 complete I would pass on that and just spend the 40-45 dollars on just the Flatface G15 because the trucks sucked on the complete. I ended up paying more in the end as I got Dynamic trucks (have a Blackriver set up with BR trucks as well) and the Dynamic trucks opened up the G15 to be so much better. The pops and all. I got like 6 decks and the G15 is my favorite for comfort and popping tricks but the trucks and wheels that come with the complete are trashy. Lesson learned. I would not waste 70 dollars on a tech deck pro unless you had the disposable income to get it for the board and did all upgrades to it. Even then the wood is Chinese wood not worth that much money.
@@danieldiggs9574 I personally really like the Flatface wheels, It's just a preference thing I guess. Even if the trucks are bad It's still cheaper to get the complete than buy the wheels and deck separately without the trucks. At least the wheels don't break like the Tech Deck wheels, though.
@@Sloppy_fingerboarding Oh I should of added I picked up the newer G8 wheels from flatface for this. I was learning and at the time thought the wheels that came with it G6 were not good. I have them now for another board.
@@Sloppy_fingerboarding I really like the G15 set up I have and just the board in general. I worked a lot of extra hours last year and bought a Blackriver complete for over 130 dollars but I still haven't really felt good with it. Flatface was worth it. Major step up from the PREP board and Tech Deck I was using. I want to try this company called Goo LTD sometime but to be honest I may sell the Blackriver and pick up a second G15 board and use the G6 wheels already have.
Teck Deck has done the licensing agreements with truck brands before with the handboards. This was huge. It would be insane to see it here. An to the people saying that the wheels and trucks are different. No they are not. They are just bad copies. Copying something poorly is copying. They could have done ANYTHING else!
came across this video a good bit after its release lol. i bought one a while back because it had the revive lifeline graphic (andrew schrock nostalgia) and can honestly say it doesnt really offer anything i would even consider remotely competent in comparison to a broken knuckle complete with decent bushings and tape thrown on it for half the price. at its price point you could throw budget wheels trucks and deck on dynamic trucks and get something that feels significantly better (and yes i tried this to be certain). it is a shame cuz of the blatant "borrowed" designs and the fact that they are claiming it is "pro level". i think what they should have kept was the decks themselves thats like the only cool part of this thing. no one else has those licenses as you stated and i dont think anyone would have thought twice if they just put on the wholesale Chinese trucks that a lot of brands sell. additionally the dual durometer wheels suck. had bearing walk in like an hour lol it really is a shame. could have just had decent cnc plastic wheels with abec 9 bearings. they could have done a lot with these and kept the price point virtually the same and had a competitive offering. also the tape is ass they never should have experimented with that shoulda just bought .5 neoprene and stamped it woulda been straight heat i cannot lie. i dont fingerboard mine really. I bought it to keep in the box as a collectible for again, nostalgia, so not much of this really impacts me anyway I suppose. only broke it out cuz i felt like i had to at least once
Not mad at all! I'm actually optimistic on what it could mean for fingerboarding 😁 at the same time it's okay to have concerns on points such as quality, cost, similarities to existing products and lack of support towards the consumer base this product targets. Make sense? Have lots of love for Tech Deck!
It is most definitely a cash grab on TD's part. Their sales have plummeted over the years, coincidentally, as the pro fingerboard scene has grown. It's a shame they stooped to this level, but honestly, I kinda saw it coming. I can see some people grabbing the TD pro gear to try out, but will eventually go back to their high quality pro fingerboards. These "Pro" TD's are just a temporary solution. It won't last.
Yeah, I'm definitely skeptical regarding the motive! I would love to see them take a portion of sales from the Pro Series and support existing fingerboard events/contests. Doubt it will happen though!
@@Doomstacked_peasant Thank you! Yeah, the first batch sold out so fast lol! Then they released the second batch a couple of days ago, and it appears to have sold out as well!
I bought my pro series before release day on amazon. I got it about a week or so again and I've been using it since then. pros -pretty good board, but could be better -I like the case and the metal tool a lot -The trucks are better than any china trucks -better than any china complete out there cons -the price is pretty steep. I think $50 would be more appropriate -the trucks have very little thread on the axles, so if you change the wheels to something more expensive they're still going to make that annoying jiggly sound -the pivot cups are absolute trash -the design of how the pivot cup works with the hanger is really dumb. Instead of the hanger staying inside the pivot cup inside the baseplate, the pivot cup has 2 lips above the baseplate , and the hanger sits outside the baseplate basically, instead of inside. -they stole the BRT baseplate design 1:1. you can even fit actual BRT pivot cups inside. They sadly do not work with the hangers because the hanger has a thicker "end". -the wheels feel really weird because they are waayy to grippy. They feel like pencil erasers As a whole, this complete is better than any broken knuckle, lc boards and other brands that have china completes. But , those completes only cost about $25. I really wish tech deck made their own designs instead of ripping off the BRTs and Flatface dd. They tried to make something really good by copying some of the best products in the pro fingerboarding scene, but they failed in my opinion. I compared this complete to my custom board with BRTs, Unique deck and Urethane wheels I like that Tech Deck tried to make a "professional" complete, but they have to improve that
Fantastic review! Really thoughtful laying out the pros and cons 😁 I'm definitely going to scoop one up soon so I can also share my own thoughts. Thank you for sharing ❤️
The setup looks really unappealing imo, thick grip, blocky unrefined shape, brt knock offs and big overly grippy (I’ve heard) wheels, I think tech deck really need to work with serious fbers to get the setups slick and fresh
That was mostly my own thoughts after looking at all the pictures and videos I've seen. But I definitely want to try one out for a bit before I make my final opinion haha
@@cdplaya yeah I would like to try one at least, like many I started on tech deck’s pretty much and have fond memories of me n my friends learning the basics in science class on them lol, so seeing tech deck upping their game is cool
Im new to the game and so far the amazon budget. Theres alot of china trucks that look like black river but they are all trash. I agree with Mike Tech deck needs to make real quality with real skate brands.
The goal of tech deck os not to benefit us its to make more money so its easy to understand why theres no innovation, no imagination and overpriced goods
Is TechDeck really part of the fingerboard community or fingerboard scene? I've never met a community fingerboarder who rode a tech deck. Only person is this weird fingerboard tiktoker that rides TechDeck
I think it's more the delivery of the take perhaps. If he had articulated his argument like he did in the podcast with Fingerspace, most fingerboarders would understand his view!
As soon as they’re available in the UK I will buy one. But not to use. They look quite rubbish. It will be for my ridiculously large tech deck collection. Otherwise I will continue to use black river and other top end products rather.
It definitely will have collector value in my opinion. I will refrain from making my final judgement until I try one in person, but I will say the initial videos don't make it appear too good hahaha
@@cdplaya the initial videos really aren’t great. Especially with that hectic bearing slip 🙈🙈 that is such a bad advert for tech deck. But I still want one.
Im sorry but without tech deck CONTINUING to exist.....ALL the relatively small fingerboard companys would NOT be able to exist!
Much appreciated! And definitely, you are doing HUGE things for fingerboarding and deserve all the recognition you get!
Alot of $3 tech deck users never experienced using a pro fb like dynamic pro, berlin wood boards , black river boards. Once they try it there like this is smooth urethane wheels more maneuverable lighter board feel even makes tricks easier then that sandpaper texh deck
Also we have all of these and the ramps in our shop this weekend
The quality problem doesnt even start at techdeck. I bought a berlinwood deck which was way to crooked in shape. It almost looked like a misshapen board. I bought blackriver trucks which had locknuts that were broken already and came off. also i had winkler wheels. The bearings became loose. I spent over 100$ for a wreck of parts. I will never again spent so much. Id rather buy cheap stuff and have the same quality😂
THANK YOU. Notice how he ain’t comment back to this tho?? Lol crazy
And totally agree on your last sentence! That's what I'm hoping too 😁
@@cdplaya Yeah man! make the new pro series review soon! that thing is lit fire from my pov!!
I'm coming at this a little bit late. But at your point at 8:25 in, they DO have the resources available. They did collabs with the handboards with Independent and Tensor.
Ya, I had both ☺️ would love to see something similar for their pro setups
@@cdplaya I would absolutely love to be rocking Tensors on all of my setups. Would buy out the pro series just to get the trucks.
Thank you! I have seen bits of this affair on reddit but not a full story. Thank you for addressing this pretty large story
Thank you for checking it out! Just wanted to share some concerns that many have! Not saying that it's the only valid view point!
Glad to see there are many positives to build on :D Your experience echoes what I've heard:
Good: Decent deck / trucks
Not good: wheels / tape
$75 doesn't sound too expensive for a decent setup!
The homie Denver Espinoza @ 2:45 lol!!
Nice! My friend was P-Rod's fingers and "skated" against Denver in those clips! He said Denver was the man :D
Would love to try one because the deck does seem a lot better than the performance series but i can't justify spending $70 plus another 30-40 for new wheels when I could get a pro setup with dynamics for the same price if not slightly more
Thats a good point! If one needs to replace the wheels regardless, then one could just get a budget pro setup for about the same price!
Thank you! I watched your review as well and thought it was fair and well done!
I think that's one of the biggest things. Tech Deck is so massive that they could literally undercut any manufacture out there, successfully.
NGL I saw “Drama Alert” and thought Keem Star was talking about fingerboarding 😂😂, dope video though homie, just subscribed
OMG so true hahaha
That green tech deck pro is the board i just got to learn how to FB and 2 teak tuning boards.. im struggling learning how to ollie tho
🤦🏼♂️😂 🛹✌🏻 1 of the wheels on the green Tech deck pro is messed up and spins slow.. would spraying WD-40 help it bud?
You almost got a screen shot of me asking TD to show us these duals they spoke of. I played with those for 10 years before I knew of the wooden fb scene.
Close! Haha I didn't realize that they made dual durometer wheels back then. If they did then I'd def give them some credit!
Agree with everything else you say tho.. different approach would’ve been fire but it’s Tech Deck. Like I said, expecting too much from a brand that has no fingerboarders working for them. Everyone knows this.. they focus more on skateboarding.
Here are my 3 takes on this:
1. The concept of dual durometer wheels isn't original and was not invented by Mike Schnider so he doesnt have the right to complain about other companies making them. (also it looks like the TD ones suck anyways)
2. No one who buys one of these is getting it instead of Flatface or Black River or any other high end FB branded item so is it really harming anyone?
3. When you charge way too much for a product and do not patent or copyright the design, prepare for the design to be copied and sold for less. It's common sense.
Yeah, I hear you on those points:
1) I, personally, think the design is different from Flatface, however, I have yet to own either a Pro Series deck or Dual Duro wheels
2) That is definitely true! There are brands that offer more affordable setups closer to this price point. I actually wouldn't be surprised if it leads into more sales long-term for the high end brands.
3) Blackriver does have a patent on its trucks!
My two primary concerns are:
1) there was an opportunity to have an original truck design and yet the baseplate / hangers are clearly a near copy of the Blackriver design.
@@cdplaya i agree with you.
it would have been cool for them to make mini Indys or Thunders or something since it seems like teaming up with skate brands is their thing.
and Pro Series board is fire, I been cooking it for months now. No one seems to point that out and it’s crazy to me!!
Yo I just realized that clip of Steve signing Teck Decks was me filming on his phone!!! I love Tech Deck and the FB community!
Ayy im in some of the vous footage! wasn't sure if you made it out this past fall.
I did not! But really hoping to either in March or April - if I do be sure to say hi! I'll have a video post with what I'll wear so people can find me hahaha
Ah man. Sometimes I think y’all expecting too much from Tech Deck, respectfully
I would be so amped to see them partner with a company like Krux!
I just wish people knew more to this than what people are seeing, respectfully
my only thoughts about tech deck making pro fingerboards are the kids who are just starting Finger boarding and thinking they need the most expensive fingerboard that is made by tech deck and then just leaving it in there closet because they find out finger boarding isn't there thing.
That's definitely true! I'm hopeful that Tech Deck releasing a Pro Series deck means they will support fingerboarding contests and events
@@cdplaya I’m sorry for going off brother it just gets me in my heart man because Mike never gave a fuck about me man and Tech Deck did
@@Eusimentus Overall, I've had a great experience with Tech Deck especially from Steve James! 6:53 it's independent truck, not dynamic
Yeah, dragged the wrong pic in and when I realized it was too late 😂😂
Tech deck has been being copied for how many years without complains? How many kids started fingerboard "companies" by taking a tech deck and making a mould of it and selling fingerboards of that shape?
Fair point! Most of the early day shapes were bondo molded from a Tech Deck and we were also locked into the 26/27mm size since the only trucks available were those at the time!
@@cdplaya oh yeah I had a couple Bondo moulds lol
@@rw1567 same haha used a lighter to shape the concave and kicks and molded from that!
Yeah I made a mistake dragging the image onto the timeline! Thought I dragged the dynamic image but messed up 😭
i think im gonna hold off on picking up a pro series tech deck untill they improve upon all the cons you mentioned in this video
Excellent video! Love the content! Keep up the good work!
Thank you, Levine!!
Its just the foam tape that gets me 😂its almost thicker than the deck🤣
Still waiting here in Germany to buy one just to see what they offer…
To be fair, for 70$ I didn’t expect a completely pro setup which can be compared to a real 100$+ setup but for this pricetag I except at least a board on performance level (worth something between 5-10$), nice tape (2-3$) well produced trucks with single axis hangars and already good bushings (something between 20-50$) and the rest of the setup goes into the wheels (from what I have seen till now in max 20$ retail more so 15$)…
So when I should guess they calculate (in retail) 10$ for the board, 3$ for the tape, 35$ for the trucks and 22$ for the wheels, something around that…
When I am right I would still say the setup is highly overpriced but at least it gives a semi pro setup with real graphics on the cheapest board you just could find (even my first presses are by far better…) with questionable wheels and solid trucks…
In the end that’s not really much and I think most people how will buy this as first setup will end up with changing everything without the trucks in a couple of months…
But again, till today I could sadly not speak in a review, it’s just from what I saw and what I heard till today…
But when I am right I would say you still run better and cheaper with a complete from a „local“ fingerboard store…
Here in Germany we didn’t have that much too that you can find one in every city but at least we have some and all of them offers online orders so it’s I a good way to buy your stuff…
ASI Berlin for example offers completes that are in most parts just better as the pro tech deck but they are way cheaper with mostly better performance…
The cheapest 20€ setup (shop complete 2.0) offers a 32mm deck which is way better produced as any wooden tech deck, cheap Chinese single axis trucks and the better Chinese bearing wheels without bearing pockets…
Just for 5€ more you could also order beta bushings as well and for 25€ you have a setup wich performes nearly at same level as the pro tech deck (better deck, slightly worse trucks, wheels are more or less same level)…
For just 5€ more you can get the 3.0 shop complete with 32 or 34mm decks (the same like on the 2.0), same wheels and shop trucks 3.0 which are a pretty nice step better as the 2.0, axis in hangar are stiffer and better pressed into the hangar with way better fit for single bearing wheels and a really nice baseplate with pivot cup I just seen on that trucks till now…
So for just 30€ (with beta bushings) you got a setup what is at least on the same level when not even better as the tech deck pro (deck is way better, trucks I think are on same level, wheels more or less same level)
And if you want duo material wheels just buy a shrink tube for a couple of cents, cut it in wheel big parts an put it on the wheels with a lighter (be careful not to damage the wheels, they could melt or burn pretty fast), with that tuning the wheels are exactly on the same level like the tech deck wheels when not even better, no Idee how good the bearings on the tech deck wheels but those in the better Chinese wheels are pretty well and hold up in most cases pretty well too (bearings slip still sucks but how it seems there is no advantage on the pro wheels from tech deck to this)…
Or you even take one of the switching pro Modells from the shop (40€+) with a branded deck (switching, what ever they have left in stock from antidote till wush decks) in everything between 32-36mm setups, with 3.0 shop trucks and mostly shop wheels (the better Chinese bearing wheels) but even there thy sometimes offers setups with stuff like Ill pills but there we are talking about the fitting 100€ for the setup (galo oldschool shape Board in ASI design, 3.0 36mm shop trucks, boardrails, riserpads and the 70D ill pills in shop design)…
I have tried the 2.0 and 3.0 completes and I think they are just amazing for this pricetag, the 20€ setup is already on the pricelevel as the performance series and the shop complete is by far better then this (better deck, better trucks, better wheels)…
With that I will not say that the tech deck is bad but if you looking for highest worth for your money I could already say that you can get something better for less money then this pro tech deck…
The only thing what could help the tech deck are the trucks, if they would be on the same level like brt or dynamics then maybe the tech deck could be worth it but something deep inside me already say „na, this would be too good…“
Hopefully spin master get this sometimes into sales here in Germany but before that happens I sadly still just could watch reviews and made a first opinion without a hands on…
Damn Conrad made it in this video! Aka Rad Ramps.
Conrad Muscarella! Yes! I wanted to show all three winners of the US Champs :D

Yes!!!!
i want bearing spite fire wheels, venture trucks, foam shake junt griptape, theres so much they could do with their company that theyre just not doing
6:53 lol you put a independent truck not a dynamic
Yeah, I grabbed the wrong image 😭 and I didn't rewatch the video 😞
I definitely want one for the deck and trucks but looking at some reviews and stress test it just don’t seem like it’s worth that 70$ price
“ hardcore fingerboarding “
How are you mad at the original fingerboard besides the keychains this is yall's daddy so respect
Not mad at all! I'm actually optimistic on what it could mean for fingerboarding 😁 at the same time it's okay to have concerns on points such as quality, cost, similarities to existing products and lack of support towards the consumer base this product targets. Make sense? Have lots of love for Tech Deck!
And before Tech Deck there were other fingerboard manufacturers!
But that guy does make a good point about collaborating with an existing truck company
It’ll last as long as I’m around 😘

@@carterle2460 i dont know about that. I have an extensive collection of a wide variety. Your definatly paying more for a name

I bought my pro series before release day on amazon. I got it about a week or so again and I've been using it since then.
pros
-pretty good board, but could be better
-I like the case and the metal tool a lot
-The trucks are better than any china trucks
-better than any china complete out there
cons
-the price is pretty steep. I think $50 would be more appropriate
-the trucks have very little thread on the axles, so if you change the wheels to something more expensive they're still going to make that annoying jiggly sound
-the pivot cups are absolute trash
-the design of how the pivot cup works with the hanger is really dumb.
They feel like pencil erasers
As a whole, this complete is better than any broken knuckle, lc boards and other brands that have china completes. But , those completes only cost about $25.
I really wish tech deck made their own designs instead of ripping off the BRTs and Flatface dd. They tried to make something really good by copying some of the best products in the pro fingerboarding scene, but they failed in my opinion.
I compared this complete to my custom board with BRTs, Unique deck and Urethane wheels
I like that Tech Deck tried to make a "professional" complete, but they have to improve that
Fantastic review!
@@heroicsquirrel3195 man textbooks are goated obstacles hahaha
@@cdplaya haha and Bunsen burners
Tech deck def the og but the game has evolved very far. Be like if ford still just made the model T.
Very minimally if at all! Hopefully this shows they are investing into the scene as well :)
They did all right in 2012, just check td expert sk8
Mega L take from Mike
I think it's more the delivery of the take perhaps. If he had articulated his argument like he did in the podcast with Fingerspace, most fingerboarders would understand his view!
Bruh MASSIVE L for TD they can’t even deal with the reality they have to blocked me and a lot of others fingerboarders lmfao
People taking fingerboarding serious is scary. it’s just a miniature toy version of a useless wooden toy. Let’s just have fun.
Im sorry but tech decks pro model base plate is about the same shape as there OG base plates from 20 years ago! You know the ones that EVERYBODY copied! Let your product speak fit itself! If your truck's are the top of the line like you say.... then why you mad?
I don't have a truck product nor am I mad - this video just outlines the thoughts of many people that are a part of this hobby
I definitely want one for the deck and trucks but looking at some reviews and stress test it just don’t seem like it’s worth that 70$ price
