- If you ask me what’s my family’s favourite food, it must be everything related to rice. Zongzi is one of them. During each Dragon Boat Festival, we make lots of zongzi: classic plain zongzi that go well with white sugar, salty zongzi filled with ham and mushrooms, fragrant and sticky sweet zongzi… Plus seasonal tender lotus leaves and must-have crawfish in summer, it’s so pleasant to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival ahead of time.

Dawang stays home and Laifu hangs out with Apenji as she collects all the things she need for her dishes. Grandma is there to lend a hand. Pretty bracelets, even Dawang gets one😂♥️♥️Grandma taught Apenji well, the dishes are coming together. Dawang and Laifu eat their dinner first. Wow! 我喜歡台灣的客家肉粽有炒香菇及紅燒肉還有鹹蛋黃，我娘家媽媽還會加上干貝超級香又鮮甜，重要的是客家粽要先泡米後再直接翻炒到8分熟才會加入所有內餡尤其香菇也是炒過的，多加了一朵因為我家女兒愛吃香菇，南部粽自從我愛的奶奶走後再無人可包出那種味道，所以也就不吃了，但是我 婆婆才是真正客家肉粽的無敵，有人一直慫恿婆婆包肉粽賣，婆婆說費時年紀大了不包了，婆婆的內餡就是炒菜脯跟豆干丁現在家裡比起以前好太多太多也就最多加上紅燒肉又肥又瘦米飯炒到鍋氣十足，因為是用灶以柴火起火，就要看經驗及炒功，我老公念念不忘老媽的粽子，現在則只愛吃丈母娘包的肉粽，一次至少吃2顆才夠滿足，我遠在日本大阪讀書的大女兒每到端午節只能看著我們拍阿嬤包的肉粽留口水哈哈

This reminded me about my childhood, when my grandma put that type of flower on my shirt during DuanWu. Our daycare sent each of us a duck egg to bring home with colorful decorations. I hope China will still keep these traditions passing alone. In big cities, these become less popular than before!!

In China, eating Zongzi（glutinous rice dumplings）is one of the most essential folk activities of the Dragon Boat Festival.I still remember my grandmother used the ancient folk method to soak glutinous rice in alkaline water made from wood and plant ash.Maybe you think it's amazing, but the Zongzi made by this way is very delicious😊

Hello Dianxi from Malaysia. The sticky rice you made, remind me of my childhood in my grandma house. We called “Chang Kueh” here with the leaves like you used made it more fragrance. I thought it used bamboo leaves until I saw your video today. I used to Eat it with course sugar or sweetened milk and sometimes with grated coconut. So good! Still eat till today.
