    The Rivian R1T is worth more than the selling price. It is an awesome vehicle that is basically 3 vehicles in one (off roader, sports car, and truck). This should not be compared to the Ford Lightning or any other pickup truck for that matter. This is an offroad adventure vehicle with a truck bed. I own one, I love it, and I have some reviews on my channel.

I also like the way Andrea dresses to match her test drive vehicle. I'm surprised one of the vehicle manufacturers haven't placed her in one of their commercials yet. It is also great to see how a couple agrees or disagrees on driving the same vehicle and whether they like the options or accessories the same or not. Thanks!

    I have this car too. No problems with gear tunnel. The brake regen took about 2 days to become an expert in, but I have to admit it was jarring at first. My complaints are with the lack of buttons and knobs, but that said it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. Also… I priced out the Tacoma, Bolt, and Miata GT and that came out to $130,000 USD! Much more than the $95,000 USD as tested price.
    FWIW, when compared to a Tesla Model X it’s my opinion you get a whole lot more and a better looking vehicle (outside AND interior) for a lot less with the Rivian

      You find it worth buying a car from an automaker that has the brake light shared with the turn signal, and the brake disappears while the turn signal is on, not to mention it’s so tiny like on some Korean junk. I would find the disregard for safety unacceptable, but it seems this just stems from lack of imagination and what’s important in a car

    As for the Rivian, (I’d like to preface I’ve yet seen one)… I feel that it’s price is ludicrous, I’ve been proven wrong on the company’s longevity and style-wise… I simply cannot quite fathom how so many people find it attractive (I apparently am alone thinking this). Another great review!
    Yeah, I don't see how designers with such an obvious eye for detail could overlook something like the regen braking issue. The failure to offer Apple CarPlay/Android Auto is a bit of a head-scratcher as well.
    Maybe these features can be offered after an over-the-air software update?
    Hopefully Rivian will be able to bring retail prices out of the stratosphere when the new US plant (just a couple of miles away from where I live) opens. Economies of scale and all that.
    And, as you point out, this is a boutique vehicle for a narrow economic demographic. Traditional pickup truck drivers will likely stick with familiar brands. But they certainly seem to have stolen a march on Tesla.

I love new tech as much as the next person, but often used items like wipers, volume, lights, HVAC, steering wheel adjustment should be immediately accessible and analog manipulation of those controls are virtually fool proof! Having to go through menus or scroll through lists to access or operate those features is a step BACKWARDS in usability! Probably why I plan to hold on to my 2012 mostly analog car for as long as possible!

    You can probably get one used for a better deal than new but the only way I would even touch an electric truck is if it has good range and the range doesn’t go down by over 100 miles when towing

    So you suggest two alternative vehicles that aren't even in production yet. Either include the CyberTruck (as Tesla is the largest EV maker in the world) or take the Chevy and the Ram off the list.

    • @Motormouth...
      @Motormouth...  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tesla isn't in production yet. We have actually seen and touched the Ram and Chevy at auto shows. Btw the biggest truck makers are Ford, GM and Stellantis.

      @Motormouth guess you need to attend the events the CT had been at. On top of this, they are regularly seen in the wild testing in preparation for launch in quarter 3. Our you can just wait until they start selling and destroy all other brands by the end of 2024.

    The hot topic bit where you lay into them on pricing was fantastic! These asshole shaming people about sustainability while only making products for upper middle class fools need to be taken to task. We’ve been promised affordable EVs for a decade now and there’s basically two models, and they’re either junk (Nissan) or unobtainable and already cancelled (Chevy).
    I’m basically ready to give up on electric. It’s for rich people.

    Your game analogy was bang on. The three vehicles you each picked, which btw were all good picks , put it all in perspective perfectly. I would have put the Range Rover in the top 4 for picks for your consideration not for the category but for the target market . This vehicle is a complete joke ...I would be embarrassed to drive one because its so obviously over priced and geared for a Freudian complex you can probably surmise on your own ! ....

    While I wouldn't buy an EV at this stage of their (and their infrastructure's) development, this is the only EV I would buy if I had money to burn (which people who can afford it probably do). It wouldn't be the only car in my garage in that case, obviously, so I'd have an ICE vehicle to use when range anxiety might be a factor and this Rivian to use otherwise!

    • @bcluett1697
      @bcluett1697 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could be they are sourcing different batteries with similar performance and like Zack says, maybe some of them are limited by software and they don't want the hassle of customers chasing them to get it unlocked or suing over getting a lesser battery.

    • @BlixemBlixem
      @BlixemBlixem ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was a weird answer. The only battery pack currently available is 135KWh. It is no secret. Since the other 2 packs are not yet in production, maybe Rivian has not yet finalized the exact numbers.

    Electric pickups should also be required to post their range when towing a standardized load - say 10,000 lbs. Those 300+ range figures would disappear in a heartbeat.

    • @ericjarvis3051

    I think the cost of the Rivian looks even worse to us since it's directly tied to the american price with the exchange rates and so many other vehicles are actually cheaper in Canada. I would wonder if this truck eats tires with all that weight and the speed/acceleration. It looks nice for a sledgehammer on wheels. Wouldn't want to get tapped in a Yaris against on of these lol. It would be interesting to know what it does in crash testing. I would like to see an electric vehicle crash test comparasin someday like between the e-trucks that will be out next year.

    The Rivan aside, car prices are out of control. I have been noticing as of late the most of the vehicles I see in my area of the world are not the high end models, but affordable options such as the Hyundai Elantra or Venue. Car manufacturers are pricing themselves out of business.
