The outfield inserts were a great addition after their first edition. I've got both editions and the second edition, which came out the second year of the game, is by far it's best out of the two. I saw the owner of a game store playing it with one of the other players in his league back in 1987. I knew right then that I had to purchase the game. The creator of Payoff Pitch told me that he also had PtP back then and he based part of his part of Payoff Pitch's pitching fatigue system on the way that PtP did it.
You have right there what I believe to be the very best cards-and-dice baseball game. Competitors give you a game that relates to baseball. Dynasty League and its forerunner Pursue the Pennant ARE baseball, with all the descriptive details and variety of results. The little extra time you must take to get through the multiplicity of plays and the numerous charts you need to consult is totally worth it! Baseball’s answer to da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. A masterpiece!
Oh wow! You got the true cards and dice version. Here I was typing a message to you to talk about what I thought was good and bad about the PC version but you don't have to worry about any of that. Hope to see boat loads of this on the channel. This is a game that is never shown by the channels I watch. Anyway even if you never play it on the channel enjoy eh. They got some of the most beautiful cards if not the best in the hobby.
I just returned to PtP last year, with the 1975 and 1969 sets. I just ordered the 1982 set this weekend. I’ve only played with the regular size cards and they fit well in the APBA sized envelopes.
It's my favorite baseball sim. I've been playing it since 1986. Enjoy Dave! The ballpark charts correspond to the season of cards you are playing. The ballpark inserts were brought back in 2023 and are great.
I love DLB. It will take a few games to get a good flow. If you invest the time you will find this game to be a very immersive baseball sim. This is the game I used to complete my one and only complete C&D replay. I did the 1957 season and had a blast. The variations from weather, ball parks, wind, etc. make every game unique. Let me know if you have any questions.
The 2023-Present ball park wall inserts along with the grass/turf field insert are placed into the game box to create any of 30 current 3-D ball parks. Without reading the Official Rulebook you figured out how to play!
The ballpark inserts and play “mat” are meant to play the game within the box, it goes back to the game’s roots. The pages of 1972 ballparks contain the ballpark information for things like Deep Drives, Foul Territory, and playing surface. The “inserts” just made a comeback, and include the same ballpark info on the ballpark “pages”. Unless you plan on playing within the box, the ballpark inserts are eye candy, but they also include some info for majestic homeruns, like upper deck or on the roof.
I have a few tips that greatly reduce any chart flipping. About 80% of the time you roll the dice once and read the result off the player card in the blue normal result.
You won’t regret your purchase, the game is fantastic and it’s not at all that difficult to play
I played PTP when it first came out. It was super fun. The outfield inserts are fantastic. You should enjoy this!

You are going to LOVE the visualization of the infield and outfield range checks.
Range checks are not something to be loved. LOL!
I might get this game just buy a season I am interested in
The ballpark strips go inside the box and wrap around the edges of the inside of the box.
How did you miss that, Dave? I think there's a photo of it on the box. 😂
Rick Wise was a good-hitting pitcher. He batted 8th sometimes for the Phillies.

I've been told that SOM went to SADV because of PtP.
The inserts will fit nicely inside your Daniel Forcier Dice tray. Or you can use them inside of the box.

For a hockey guy, you sure have been doing lots of baseball during hockey season…Good on ya, Dave! I love it.

I would love to get more seasons for PtP. I'll have to check the site out. I didn't know that there was a board mode for Dynasty League.
Oh my, that’s all I play. I don’t do big replays, so I greatly prefer the cards and dice for my games, series and mini-tournaments

Truly a great game. Just got off of work and am tuning in ASAP as I’ve been hoping you’d get and showcase this game!

Howdy Dave! Looking forward to a replay. Happy Holidays!
This is a great game!
Large card size shouldn't be an issue since you're not laying them out on a playing surface like basketball or hockey.
Pursue the Pennant is involved but i always thought it played a good game of baseball. If you are going to do Hockey, Hockey Bones sounds great!
